Story
Ezra is a happy-go-lucky boy with energy to spare and a big, friendly heart to match! This fun-loving pup is always ready for action — whether it’s running, playing, or zooming around just because he can. He would thrive in an active home that can help him burn off some of that enthusiasm. Ezra loves to run and play, and one of his favorite pastimes is sprinting up and down the fence line with his doggy neighbors, just having the best time. Beyond all that energy, he’s a very good boy. He knows some basic commands, is eager to please, and absolutely adores people. If you’re looking for a friendly, playful companion to keep you moving and smiling, Ezra might just be your perfect match. We estimate Ezra to be about 1-2 years old. All dogs and puppies come spayed and neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fees are $75.00 for adult dogs and $100.00 for puppies at the time of adoption. Our adoptions are done by approved applications, so you must apply and be approved before being able to meet any of our dogs or puppies. To be approved, you can apply online at: https://www.storycountyiowa.gov/1486/Adoption-Application or you can apply in person. Applications can take a few business days to be approved and you will be emailed with communications regarding your application.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
- Loves people and companionship and will ask for attention from everyone in the room - Enjoys tummy rubs - Goofy guy with tons of energy - Loves to chew on bones and play, especially with ball toys - Will enjoy having lots of space to run in his new home - Smart guy who already knows sit - Tends to be a linebacker-type player with other dogs, which some dogs may not appreciate; will likely do best with a select group of rough-and-tumble dog friends with a similar play style (dog intro recommended) The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 48.5 Age: 1yrs 5mths 2wks

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
- Sweet, mellow girl, who loves toys and likes giving kisses- Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip: "What a laid-back dog. She had no interest in snacks or chew toys, but she did like playing tug-of-war and fetching a tennis ball. And the belly rubs. I think we could have spent four hours doing nothing but my scratching her belly and she would have been happy. We went for a walk in my neighborhood and she did well. Slight pulling but no yanks or lunges. She met my girlfriend and my neighbor and charmed both of them."- Prefers to do her own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more in a home after she's had time to decompress - Has a history of being stressed by young, noisy or busy children, but has done OK with kids who are calm and polite (mature home recommended) - Has done well with like-minded dogs and may enjoy a dog friend in her new home - Needs a home with no cats - Has struggled with medical handling, specifically needles, and would benefit from a veterinarian who uses Fear Free techniques This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. Story
Ruby is a stunning Husky mix with a gentle soul and wonderful manners. This beautiful girl has the softest, sweetest presence and is an absolute joy to be around. She listens well, knows commands, and truly wants to please her people. Ruby has already shown what an amazing dog she is by raising four puppies and doing a phenomenal job. She was a devoted, loving mom and has transitioned seamlessly into being a calm, affectionate companion. She loves people, does well with other dogs, and is a dream indoors. Ruby is fully house-trained, crate-trained (though she doesn’t need one), and has excellent house manners, no chewing or destructive behaviors. Outside, her playful Husky side shines. She loves to run, play, and show off her zoomies. Like most Huskies, Ruby thrives with regular exercise and mental stimulation. If bored, she may try to explore, so a secure yard and an active lifestyle are important. She has been around cats and will bark at them, but with time and guidance, this may improve. Ruby would do best with an adopter who understands the Husky breed and is ready to give her the activity, structure, and love she deserves. In return, she will be a loyal, affectionate, and truly special companion. ✨ Ruby is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventions. 💛 Adoption Fee: $200 (Local – Texas) 🚐 Out-of-State Adoption Fee: $450 (includes transport) If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, and loving Husky mix to add to your family, Ruby just might be your perfect match. 💕🐶
