Chevy is a husky mix and is about 6.5 years old and weighs 45 pounds. Chevy’s a perfect gentleman with excellent manners and he’s a total sweetheart! He loves people and other dogs and knows basic commands such as sit, down and wait. He is also kennel-trained. Chevy loves to be affectionate, but also respects your space and doesn’t jump on people. Meet Apollo! He’s an enthusiastic guy with a heart for adventure! He’s an active husky who would love to exercise or go on hikes with you. He’s house trained and knows some commands, but he’s easily distracted at the rescue. Apollo was owner surrendered to us after his owner could no longer care for him. He’s about 5 years old and weighs 40 pounds. Meet sweet girl Princess! She’s a 40-pound Siberian husky with piercing blue eyes. She is the perfect size and is fully grown at 4 years old. Puppy days are behind her which means no chewing and no puppy antics. Her dream day consists of cuddling, being wherever her human is, and laying in the sunshine. Princess was found as a stray. And yet, she is the sweetest and cuddliest!She walks great on a leash and loves car rides. Princess does tend to resource guard by pushing other dogs out of the way, so she needs some work on boundaries—kennel training would help a ton! To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email apurvis@arl-iowa.org.---- Can be uncomfortable with new people, new things, loud noises and fast movements, but he has made good progress in our care and recovers much more quickly now; looking for patient people who will treat him with understanding and help him continue to gain confidence - Once he feels comfortable he'll give you lots of big tail wags, bounce over to you for pets, put his front legs flat on the ground asking you to play, and even get the zoomies! - Loves treats, especially peanut butter, and that will be a great way to build trust and form a bond with him - Can be busy at times, but once you're his friend he loves to just hang out with you - Still a little unsure of having a leash put on, but once it is he walks well - Looking for a teens-and-up home right now to set him up for success - Can be shy and unsure of other dogs (dog intro required) - Will be a great friend for someone who can give him extra time to settle in and help him build up his confidence so he can enjoy all the good things in life! I adopted Goldfish from the ARL just over a year ago and he has been a challenge. He is about 5 years old. He has done well with obedience training over time and has picked up many skills. He is a bit stubborn though and requires an owner with patience. He does not like to be man handled. He does not like the groomer or his paws being particularly touched but allows me as I have worked with him in gaining trust. He has a strong herding instinct with large groups of people in the home and certain dogs he does not get along well with. He does well with female dogs and submissive males as I have a submissive male in the home that he gets along with well. Unfortunately, he does not fit my busy social life as much as I wanted him to. He loves to roam outside in the backyard and lay out there. I think he would thrive with a large open space. He can be energetic but tires quickly. He loves to be pet and loves his butt scratches.
