Story
Chucho is about 8 years old but loves to run around like he is much younger. He is a rescue from a southern US hurricane we think he might have been a herding dog from a ranch in Texas. He is very sweet, calm and well mannered. He is great with the 2 and 4 year old kids. He never barks or whines. He doesn't beg or ask for much - just to be fed twice a day, watered, and to be let out regularly. He doesn't even play with toys. Chucho deserves to be with someone who has time for him - go on walks - ride in the car, etc. We will be sad to let him go and need to be sure he gets into the perfect home.He is on a daily dose of Thyroid. He just had his vet check within the last month.

Story
Meet Todd – The Wiggly Boy Who Will Give You His Whole Heart Todd is sweet, silly, playful, and just a little shy when he's figuring out someone new. Give him a little time, patience, and consistency, though, and you'll quickly discover the affectionate, adventurous dog underneath. Todd bonds with his family quickly, loves other dogs, and genuinely seems to want to be the very best boy he can be. And when he's happy to see you, Todd doesn't just wag his tail. He wiggles his entire body. Todd Loves: -Walks -Hiking and outdoor adventures -Running -Tug toys -Sniffing and exploring -Playing with other dogs -Playing with toys -Chewing on bones -Watching TV with his people -Zoomies -Spending time with the people he trusts Todd's Favorite Thing: Playing with other dogs. Todd absolutely loves his canine friends and plays very well with them. Having another friendly dog around could be a wonderful way for him to enjoy himself while continuing to build confidence. He's an athletic, adventurous guy with medium energy, so he's ready to get outside and have some fun—but he doesn't need to be moving every second of the day. A Little Patience Goes a Long Way Todd can be shy at first and nervous in unfamiliar situations, but he warms up quickly. His confidence is already improving with exposure, and his foster has seen just how quickly Todd can bond once he realizes he's safe. Todd doesn't need someone to rush him. He needs someone willing to give him a little time, consistency, and encouragement while he continues discovering that new people, places, and experiences can be good things. His foster puts it beautifully: "If you give him that, he will give you the world." The Full-Body Todd Wiggle Some dogs wag their tails when they're excited. Todd apparently decided that wasn't enough. When he's happy to see someone, his entire body gets involved. That silly, wiggly greeting has become one of the things that makes Todd so endearing. Once this initially shy boy knows you, there's no question about how happy he is that you're there. A Few Things to Know: -House trained -Doing well in his crate with a structured routine -Does experience some crate anxiety -Loves other dogs and plays well with them -Good with children -Medium energy -Athletic and adventurous -Shy when first meeting people -Nervous at first but warms up quickly -Confidence is improving with continued exposure -Can be nervous in unfamiliar places -May bark or vocalize -Pulls on leash and needs continued leash practice -Responds best to patience and consistency Great Activities for Todd: -Neighborhood walks -Hiking -Running -Sniffing adventures -Park visits -Tug games -Playing with dog friends -One-on-one bonding time -Exploring new places at his own pace -Toys and chew bones -Family TV time -Zoomies when the mood strikes Best Match: -First-time dog owners -Active or outdoorsy families -Patient adopters -Families with children -Homes with another friendly dog -Someone willing to continue building his confidence -A family that can provide consistency and structure -People looking for an active companion who also wants a strong bond with his family Three Words That Describe Todd Best: ❤️ Silly ❤️ Playful ❤️ Wiggly Foster Location: Sparta, WI Meet & Greet Availability: Todd's foster is happy to meet approved adopters. Todd was found living on the streets of El Paso, Texas, and was taken to the shelter. From there, he got his chance to leave shelter life behind and begin the next chapter of his story. Some of those early experiences may help explain why Todd needs a moment to take things in when something is unfamiliar. But what his foster is seeing now is a dog who is learning, gaining confidence, and forming strong bonds with the people around him. Todd is very sweet and truly wants to be a good boy. Give him a little patience while he figures things out, and you'll get to watch that shy exterior give way to the goofy, playful, wiggly dog underneath. And once Todd decides you're his person, his foster says he'll give you the world. Ready to meet Todd? Visit www.tailsofhopewi.org to submit an application.
