Story
Meet River, a spirited and affectionate Husky whose zest for life is as boundless as the rivers he's named after. With a stunning coat and eyes that sparkle with curiosity, River embodies the adventurous spirit and intelligence typical of his breed. True to his Husky nature, River has a passion for the great outdoors. He's an explorer at heart, always ready to dig into new adventures, sprint through open fields, and embark on long, meandering walks. He dreams of finding a companion who shares his love for active pursuits and can match his pace step for step. River's enthusiasm is only matched by his sweet and loving disposition. He's a social butterfly who enjoys the company of other dogs, navigating the world of friendships with the grace of a diplomat. His leash manners are impeccable, making him the perfect partner for adventures far and wide. Despite his bold and adventurous exterior, River has a tender side. He can be a bit cautious about indoor environments and may take his time adjusting to new spaces and experiences like crossing thresholds. But given time, patience, and a gentle touch, River shows an incredible ability to adapt and find comfort in his surroundings. River is looking for a forever home where his boundless energy and affection will be cherished. A family that understands the unique needs of Huskies and is committed to keeping his curious mind engaged and his athletic body active would be ideal. He'll thrive in an environment where his space to explore is safely monitored, ensuring his adventurous escapades always end safely at home. If you're looking for a loyal companion to share in all of life's adventures, River may just be the perfect addition to your family. Come meet him, and let the current of his charming personality sweep you off your feet!

Story
Pumpkin is a nearly 5-year-old Husky known for his playful and friendly nature, particularly enjoying the company of other dogs. While he was raised alongside cats, his current disposition towards them is uncertain. Regrettably, Pumpkin's owner can no longer afford to care for him due to the demands of holding two jobs and the consequent guilt of leaving him alone for extended periods. Pumpkin seeks a new home that can provide him with ample space to play and run freely. If you're searching for a devoted and spirited companion, Pumpkin could be the ideal addition to your family.

Story
This is a COURTESY POST, so this dog is not at the Cornelius Animal Shelter. If you're interested in Keo, please contact his foster parent at 302-438-5766. Meet Keo! This big teddy bear is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. We believe Keo is around 3 or 4 years old. Our son started fostering him when his prior owner left the area and couldn’t take Keo with him, but he wasn’t an appropriate dog for a small apartment. When he first joined us, he was underweight and having gut issues. After much testing we discovered that Keo has a form of Addison's Disease, which is easily treated with a small dose of prednisone. His health is now excellent, and he’s at a good weight and is very happy! We’ve been fostering Keo for several months now, and he gets along very well with our 4 other dogs (both males and females). He loves to play, preferring to chase and be chased rather than retrieving balls or sticks. Keo loves taking walks and he likes to wade in the water down at the lake. He likes a comfy dog bed and will sleep on the floor right next to your bed if you let him. He doesn’t get on the furniture unless invited and is not a “counter surfer”. When Keo is excited, he vocalizes like a husky, but is otherwise a quiet dog – he doesn’t bark at other dogs or passers-by. As a larger black dog he looks imposing, but you can see the sweetness and focus in his beautiful blue eyes. Give Keo a chance, you won’t regret it! He deserves a great home.

Story
Meet Ace, a friendly and affectionate 1 year old, handsome Siberian Husky. Ace is playful but gentle and is very loyal. He still has puppy in him which makes him so much fun. He likes other dogs and kids but maybe better with older kids since he still does a bit the puppy nipping and jumping, which is common with young dogs and huskies. Ace is very smart and loves kisses. Ace weighs 55 lbs, is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccines and is heartworm negative. He is potty trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash with a harness. Please email info@angelstotheanimals.org to arrange a meet and greet or request an application. Please give this sweet boy a chance and he will love you forever!!

Story
Jax came to us in late November with his sister who has already been adopted. He is a 5 year old large and gorgeous Siberian Husky. Jax has had a hard time transitioning to the shelter, so we wanted to open up the possibility of an experienced dog owner and/or someone knowledgeable about the breed. Jax's previous owner stated that he is sweet, gentle, and smart but gets defensive in the crate. In the shelter, which is often stressful for dogs, he isn't a huge fan of men and interactions with strangers. He loves being outside and will sit politely and give "paw" for treats, which he takes very gently. He also loves stuffed toys! However, he does not trust staff or volunteers. He needs a confident owner and a safe space to work on his trust. It is possible that Jax will improve and return to his sweet self once he is in a different environment. He is up to date on his vaccines, female dog friendly, and crate trained. He has had accidents in his kennel, but it may be because he is still intact, as his previous owner noted that he was crate trained. He is quite vocal, which is pretty normal for the breed and is sometimes hilarious. He is not neutered but will be before adoption. Please come down to meet him!

Story
Athena was from a shelter and is a very good dog she came in as a stray so she she had no back story. It turns out her breed is not allowed in the home that I rent and have to search for her a home that she can be in. She loves attention she just started coming out of her shell and playing with toys. She normally just lays around when we’re just watching tv or in the kitchen. She’s very curious about new people and animals she wants to play with any dog she sees she gets very excited. She is a lovely dog and hope to find her a happy home

Story
Baxter is approximately four years old and came to us as a stray. He is likely a German shepherd/husky mix and is an adorable guy with one brown and one blue eye. He is extremely sweet and loving. He is good with my dog so we think he would love a doggie brother or sister. The foster doens't have children but based on personality we think he would be good with children. He has been totally housebroken and learned to use the doggie door on his own on the second day at his foster home. He has been fully vetted and is ready to go to his forever home. He does need work on walking on a leash and on basic manners but he's a smart boy and he'll catch on quickly.    Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications.   We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine.   The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. If it is not a match we will file your approved application and you can wait till you find the perfect match. ##1989229##
