This is a COURTESY POST, so this dog is not at the Cornelius Animal Shelter. If you're interested in Keo, please contact his foster parent at 302-438-5766. Meet Keo! This big teddy bear is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. We believe Keo is around 3 or 4 years old. Our son started fostering him when his prior owner left the area and couldn’t take Keo with him, but he wasn’t an appropriate dog for a small apartment. When he first joined us, he was underweight and having gut issues. After much testing we discovered that Keo has a form of Addison's Disease, which is easily treated with a small dose of prednisone. His health is now excellent, and he’s at a good weight and is very happy! We’ve been fostering Keo for several months now, and he gets along very well with our 4 other dogs (both males and females). He loves to play, preferring to chase and be chased rather than retrieving balls or sticks. Keo loves taking walks and he likes to wade in the water down at the lake. He likes a comfy dog bed and will sleep on the floor right next to your bed if you let him. He doesn’t get on the furniture unless invited and is not a “counter surfer”. When Keo is excited, he vocalizes like a husky, but is otherwise a quiet dog – he doesn’t bark at other dogs or passers-by. As a larger black dog he looks imposing, but you can see the sweetness and focus in his beautiful blue eyes. Give Keo a chance, you won’t regret it! He deserves a great home.

We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine.   The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. She was found at an abandoned house, left in a dirty pen with two other dogs, surviving without food or water for some time. For the past 9 months Panda Girl has been sadly waiting patiently for her forever home at a small town shelter, existing in a dark and depressing, tiny concrete cell. Despite her tough start, Panda Girl is a true sweetheart and still has a great attitude and grateful for any attention or moment outside her cell in the play yard. This girl is able to stay out in the play yard a lot because she gets along well with other dogs and adores everyone she meets. Her time in the shelter's play yard shows that she still has a  playful spirit and friendly nature.  This poor girl needs a break from this mundane existence in a shelter.  9 months is sheer torture and we hope someone will help her get out by fostering or even better, adopting.  Panda Girl deserves a loving family who will give her the care and companionship she craves.
