Story
?? Meet Pope! ?? Pope is a striking, 1-year-old husky mix who’s looking for a second chance at happiness. Before coming to the shelter, Pope lived his life as a stray—wild and free. His finder described him as friendly, great with their children, and wonderful with their other dog. Out in the world, Pope’s gentle and social nature truly shone. But life in the shelter has been challenging for Pope. While he’s still a sweet and friendly guy, the shelter environment makes him nervous and less outgoing than he was as a free spirit. We’re not advocating for Pope to wander the streets again, but we do wish for him to find a loving home where he can rediscover the joys of outdoor adventures and finally leave the stress of shelter life behind. Here at the shelter, Pope is working on learning to walk on a leash. The busy, unfamiliar environment can make him anxious, and sometimes he’ll flatten himself to the ground when his leash is put on. Pope needs a patient, understanding owner who can help him build trust and confidence at his own pace. With gentle encouragement and time, we know Pope will blossom into the happy, adventurous companion he’s meant to be.If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a handsome, sensitive soul, come meet Pope at the shelter (??430 Bristol Dr., Statesville, NC). He’s waiting for his forever family—could that be you?

Story
We found Marshall abandoned at a Marshall's store. We were not looking to get a dog but couldn't leave him. As it is, we absolutely cannot keep him (or the coonhound in the picture, who we also found..) due to being away for work literally over half the time. He is extremely sweet natured and loving, a bit nervous, very quiet for a husky, is great with other dogs he's met and cats (we have a handful of cats), and little children/babies. Totally up to date on shots, has been neutered. I don't like the idea of rehoming a pet that believes he is "part of the pack" but due to life situations and being unable to give the time and attention that he requires, he NEEDS to go to a different home. I love this dog but cannot keep him and cannot afford to keep paying someone to take care of him when I'm gone for work. Ideally, someone would take him and the coonhound (Lenny) who has a similar story and is in the same situation as Marshall. But I understand if you can't take both. Probably 6yo.

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Celine Dion – a stunning 4-year-old Greyhound/Lab mix with a personality as big as her name! Weighing in around 58 pounds, Celine was rescued from the euthanasia list at a Houston shelter and has been thriving ever since in her loving foster home in North Carolina. She’s spayed, healthy, and available for out-of-state adoption once matched with an approved adopter—transport can be arranged to bring this superstar home to you! Celine is joyful, curious, and always ready for fun. She brings a playful spark wherever she goes—whether it’s romping in the yard with dog friends, chasing her favorite toy, or exploring new places. Her ideal playmates are other large dogs who enjoy an energetic buddy and don’t mind a little bounce in their step. She’d also be perfectly happy as the center of attention in a home where she can get plenty of activity and enrichment. This sweet girl is making great strides with her leash manners and training. She’s crate trained, housebroken, and settles quickly after an initial burst of excitement when it’s time for a walk. She’s eager to please and motivated by treats, which makes her a fun and responsive learner. Celine adores people and has done wonderfully around her foster’s 12-year-old child. She gets so excited to say hello that she sometimes forgets her size—but she’s learning to greet people more gently and is improving every day. Because of her enthusiasm, we recommend a home with kids over 10 who are comfortable around playful, happy dogs. She’s respectful with toys and food, shows no guarding behavior, and enjoys being near her humans for affection, praise, and snuggles. In the car, she may pant at first, but she’s gaining confidence with each ride—and a few more adventures will help her become a travel pro. Celine would thrive in an active home with room to stretch her legs, regular walks, and loving guidance to help her keep growing into her best self. Whether she’s your one-and-only or joins a friendly pack, she’s ready to fill your days with laughter, companionship, and love. Ready to be serenaded daily with joy and tail wags? Celine Dion is waiting to steal your heart. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
