Story
Available for adoption! If you would like to meet Biscuit, please email mckenzie.cook@lincolncounty.org to set up an appointment as he is in a foster home currently!Introducing Biscuit!Biscuit is 3 years old and thought to be a Husky mix. Biscuit is described as a happy go lucky dog who loves everyone. He is heartworm negative however, he does have a medical condition that he will need help maintaining. He is under treatment for Discospondylitis- a disease caused by an infection that has entered the intervertebral disc of the spine, causing abnormal gait (high stepping in Biscuit’s case) and neurologic stability/spine stability issues. He has been maintaining it well with help from our vet staff and his foster, but he is needing a place to call his true home. He will need to be on long term medication to help him slowly repair the damage this disease has caused to the best of the medication’s capabilities. It is possible he may not fully overcome some of the effects of this disease. Biscuit is social with cats, dogs, and children. Biscuit’s adoption will be a little different due to his medical status to help ensure he goes to the best fit for him. Biscuit`s adopters will need to have a veterinary reference that they are in good standing with, as well as sitting down with our medical team to help understand his needs. This will need to be done over the course of 3 meet and greets with everyone in the home, dogs included. We try to keep barriers to adoption as minimal as possible, but want to help ensure he will have proper medical care for his condition as he moves into the home. If you would like to meet Biscuit, please email mckenzie.cook@lincolncounty.org to set up an appointment as he is in a foster home currently!

Story
Milo was rescued in charlotte, NC. He is 1 year old, and he was kept in an apartment room over 12 hours a day. His owner was giving him away because “she couldn’t stand his whining” and everyone in the complex was complaining about it. He is not house trained and has hardly been exposed to the outside world until I got him 2 weeks ago. He is not good with cats, and is very playful. He loves dogs but his size is intimidating to some and when you combine that with his puppy energy, it can be stressful to some dogs. I walk with crutches and can’t provide him with the exercise he needs for that reason. He is starting to get anxious from being inside too much because all he wants is to run and play outside. I don’t have a fenced yard to let him play in because my other male dog did not get along with him and I have to keep everyone separated. I just wanted to save this baby from that bad situation or to be taken to a worse one, but I can’t keep him and I feel like I am failing him.

Story
This is a COURTESY POST, so this dog is not at the Cornelius Animal Shelter. If you're interested in Keo, please contact his foster parent at 302-438-5766. Meet Keo! This big teddy bear is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. We believe Keo is around 3 or 4 years old. Our son started fostering him when his prior owner left the area and couldn’t take Keo with him, but he wasn’t an appropriate dog for a small apartment. When he first joined us, he was underweight and having gut issues. After much testing we discovered that Keo has a form of Addison's Disease, which is easily treated with a small dose of prednisone. His health is now excellent, and he’s at a good weight and is very happy! We’ve been fostering Keo for several months now, and he gets along very well with our 4 other dogs (both males and females). He loves to play, preferring to chase and be chased rather than retrieving balls or sticks. Keo loves taking walks and he likes to wade in the water down at the lake. He likes a comfy dog bed and will sleep on the floor right next to your bed if you let him. He doesn’t get on the furniture unless invited and is not a “counter surfer”. When Keo is excited, he vocalizes like a husky, but is otherwise a quiet dog – he doesn’t bark at other dogs or passers-by. As a larger black dog he looks imposing, but you can see the sweetness and focus in his beautiful blue eyes. Give Keo a chance, you won’t regret it! He deserves a great home.

Story
Meet Ace, a friendly and affectionate 1 year old, handsome Siberian Husky. Ace is playful but gentle and is very loyal. He still has puppy in him which makes him so much fun. He likes other dogs and kids but maybe better with older kids since he still does a bit the puppy nipping and jumping, which is common with young dogs and huskies. Ace is very smart and loves kisses. Ace weighs 55 lbs, is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccines and is heartworm negative. He is potty trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash with a harness. Please email info@angelstotheanimals.org to arrange a meet and greet or request an application. Please give this sweet boy a chance and he will love you forever!!

Story
Jax came to us in late November with his sister who has already been adopted. He is a 5 year old large and gorgeous Siberian Husky. Jax has had a hard time transitioning to the shelter, so we wanted to open up the possibility of an experienced dog owner and/or someone knowledgeable about the breed. Jax's previous owner stated that he is sweet, gentle, and smart but gets defensive in the crate. In the shelter, which is often stressful for dogs, he isn't a huge fan of men and interactions with strangers. He loves being outside and will sit politely and give "paw" for treats, which he takes very gently. He also loves stuffed toys! However, he does not trust staff or volunteers. He needs a confident owner and a safe space to work on his trust. It is possible that Jax will improve and return to his sweet self once he is in a different environment. He is up to date on his vaccines, female dog friendly, and crate trained. He has had accidents in his kennel, but it may be because he is still intact, as his previous owner noted that he was crate trained. He is quite vocal, which is pretty normal for the breed and is sometimes hilarious. He is not neutered but will be before adoption. Please come down to meet him!

Story
Athena was from a shelter and is a very good dog she came in as a stray so she she had no back story. It turns out her breed is not allowed in the home that I rent and have to search for her a home that she can be in. She loves attention she just started coming out of her shell and playing with toys. She normally just lays around when we’re just watching tv or in the kitchen. She’s very curious about new people and animals she wants to play with any dog she sees she gets very excited. She is a lovely dog and hope to find her a happy home
