Story
Looking for a playful, loving companion who's ready to impress you with his intelligence and melt your heart with his affectionate nature? Meet Bolt!I'm a sweet, adorable, medium sized 2 year old husky and bull terrier mix who absolutely loves head scratches, belly rubs, and spending time with my favourite humans. Whether we're going for walks or just hanging out at home, I'm happiest when I'm with you. I'm a great walking buddy, and I'm really good at loose-leash walking, so I can make sure you enjoy our walks just as much as I do.People tell me I'm a quick learner-and I agree! I already know sit, down, twirl, spin, jump, stay, and shake paw. I'm super food motivated, so if there's something new you'd like me to learn, just let me know payment of the edible variety is involved, and it's as good as done! When we're not out on a walk, I enjoy solving puzzles, chewing on tennis balls, and having a blast with my frozen Kong ball.I'm also a social boy-I'm quick to make friends with new people and have been well-behaved with other dogs. I'm a loyal companion who will always be there to brighten your day.I do have some medical needs, but don't let that worry you! I just need a bit of extra care and attention. I promise, the love and joy I'll bring into your life will far outweigh any effort required. My care staff would be happy to share all the details with you!If you're in search of a fun, loving, and loyal companion to brighten your life, I really think I could be your perfect match. If you want to meet me or get more information, you can reach out to yorkregion@ontariospca.ca or call 905-898-7122 X 306. My animal ID number is 254840. I have been in foster but I will be returning to shelter on Sunday June 1st if you wish to come see me. I can't wait to meet you! Story
Luna is a chill but spunky senior girl. She was surrendered to us due to some medical complications that have since been resolved. She likes to bask in the sun, and also enjoys relaxing in the snow. She truly loves to be outside enjoying the fresh air. Luna is a vocal girl who likes to howl and "talk" to her people. She makes us laugh every day with her bossy quirks .Luna is looking for a quiet home. She can be protective of her space occasionally, and will need time to slowly warm up to new people. Luna's family would need to come to Dog Tales for frequent visits before bringing her home, in order to help her transition to her new family. An experienced adopter with no dogs or children is Luna's ideal family.

Story
Jackie’s journey has been a truly remarkable one. When he first came to us, he was very feral and understandably uncertain of the world around him. Since then, Jackie has made incredible progress and has grown into a confident, happy dog. He’s now excited to meet new people and has blossomed into a social butterfly, eager to form connections and share his warmth with everyone he meets. While Jackie has made great strides in his socialization, he can still be reactive around other dogs, so he would do best as the only pet in the household or with careful introductions to compatible companions. With his newfound confidence, Jackie is ready to find a family who can continue to guide him through this next chapter in his life. If you’re looking for a dog who has overcome challenges and is ready to offer love and companionship, Jackie is the perfect fit. He’ll need a patient and understanding family who can help him continue to grow and thrive in a secure and loving environment.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ZOUT hails from the Northern community of Mishkeegogamang and came south with his siblings (Fennel, Cardamom, Anise and Saffron) to find his forever family. He’s received his first set of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. We have a picture of his mum and she’s a white Husky of around 50lbs and we can only assume dad was a Lab due to the colouring of 2 of his siblings. Dad’s breed is just a guess though and we really don’t know his breed or what size he was. This laid back, chill boy has a lovely soft coat and a loving nature. He loves to play with the many dog toys he has in his foster home and he has a Nyla bone to chew on to help with his teething. ZOUT is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also nap in it during the day too. House training is still a work in progress and he will go on a pee pad in the home if he isn’t taken outside quickly enough. He’s just started to go on walks and it’s slow going as he has never worn a collar or leash before. He’s also slowly learning that he can go to the bathroom while outside on her walks too. ZOUT’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on hikes and walks in the woods. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for him. He should do well in a home with another dog seeing as he’s a puppy and accepting of other dogs. He hasn’t met a cat but if there’s one in the home that’s dog savvy then they should get along. We always recommend a slow and monitored introduction to other animals in the home while the new dog is kept leashed. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided be’s not left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving and gentle towards animals. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe while he has a run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to take him for puppy/obedience training to help him to become the best boy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of him (preferably in a cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.  If ZOUT sounds like he’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 29, 2025, 5:37 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.FOSSIL hails from the Northern community of Poplar Hill and came south with his mum and (Luminox) and siblings (Hublot, Audemas and Zodiac) to find his forever family. He’s received his first set of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. His mum weighs approximately 38lbs/17kgs and she’s a white Husky mix but we have no info on the father although we are guessing dad was a Lab due to the colouring and temperament of the puppies. He’s the most vocal one in the Watch Litter and he has the Husky howl down pat.  He's mischievous and playful and  always running off to look for something fun to do. He loves  to  play  games of tug and is always finding new things to play with. He also loves being pet and if you scratch him just right, his leg will shake. FOSSIL is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also nap in it during the day too. House training is still a work in progress as he’s just starting to learn to go to the bathroom outside. He’s just starting to go for short walks on a leash and harness but hasn’t quite mastered walking as of yet and he seems quite happy to just sit down and relax rather than take a few steps. He’s noted as having droopy ears but right now they’re kind of sticking out sideways but we suspect they will end up being erect ears. He is pretty food motivated so we do recommend he be fed in his crate and use a slower feeder. He’s working on his manners and he’s just starting to sit for his food and take treats “gentle.”  FOSSIL’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on hikes and walks in the woods. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for him. He should do well in a home with another dog seeing as he’s a puppy and and he has two medium sized dogs in his foster home. There is a cat in his foster home too but he hasn’t had too much interaction with him so if there’s one in the home that’s dog savvy then they should get along. We always recommend a slow and monitored introduction to other animals in the home while the puppy is kept leashed. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time.
