Joker / M / 2Y / 32lbs / Jack Russel X / Good with Balanced Dogs / Appreciates Slow Intros w People / No Kids Please / Untested with Cats / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto **Follow Joker’s journey on Instagram: foster_doggo_toronto Meet Joker! He was rescued by our partner in Mexico, and while his history is unknown-he’s looking for a bright future here in Canada! Joker's foster describes him as a spunky little low rider who loves to cuddle. This little guy is hard to take photos of because he can’t seem to sit still long enough! He is sweet, gentle, and a bit mischievous. He loves to be pet and will give you endless kisses if you let him. He loves to play but also enjoys sitting and watching the world go by. Joker is great with new people and people he knows. He prefers to meet new people are neutral territory instead of in his home. Outside of the home he is curious and wants to great everyone he sees. He has only met children 9+ but he loved being around them. Younger children would have to be watched more carefully as Joker likes to resource guard. Joker loves people and gets along with friendly dogs. He would do well with a resident dog who can teach him how to be a pet. Joker has not been tested with cats and is looking for a cat-free home at this time. A home where his human(s) are around most of the time would be ideal. We don’t believe he had ever been in a home, or had a family prior to arriving to Canada. Everything was new to him but within a few weeks, he had completely adapted. Joker is an intelligent and a medium-high energy dog. He will need at least two 30 minute walks a day and plenty of canine enrichment. He loves bones, food puzzles, and lots of sniffing. His new family should be prepared to support him with basic training, such as manners and leash skills. Joker is potty trained but his adopters should prepare for some accidents as he transitions to a new home. He is food motivated and will focus easily when indoors. Joker currently knows basic commands like sit, lay down, to stay out of the kitchen and come. He sleeps in his crate overnight and goes in without any hesitations. He is left free rein for short periods with no issues. Joker has not been left alone for long periods but does not show signs of separation anxiety. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Joker’s adoption fee is $850. Story
Hi, I'm Poker. I may seem a bit shy at first, but once you get to know me, you'll see I'm as sweet as can be. I'm a gentle soul, always careful not to startle anyone. I love to cuddle with people I'm comfortable with, it's my favorite thing to do, especially when I'm feeling a bit nervous, which is quite often. I'm also very loyal, I'll always be by your side, ready to give you my undivided attention. I may need a little time to warm up, but once I do, I promise to be the best friend you've ever had. I seem to do ok with other dogs, though it is probably best that they are around my size because I am quite small. I'm not really sure how I would do with cats or children, especially because of my nervousness. I'm a little anxious here and really want to make my way to my new home. Do you think you might have the perfect home for me? Adopting me would mean a world of unconditional love and loyalty. I promise to make every day brighter with my sweet, gentle nature.

Story
Health Issues - Has a history of pancreatitis, for which she must remain on a low fat diet. - At the present time, Lexi is slightly overweight, which will need to be monitored. Temperament - Lexi is a sweet girl with lots of character and energy which is typical of her breed. - Even though Lexi is a senior dog, she requires regular walks and activities to keep fit. - She is a very smart girl and learns things very quickly and she loves to explore with you on walks. - Lexi loves to jump up on your lap and have cuddles at the same time as watching what’s going on around her. - She is attentive, alert and will bark at sudden noises and movement. Owner Suitability - Lexi is a people dog and loves to be part of the family. - She needs to be in a home with no other animals and no children. - Lexi will need time to adapt to her new environment, get to know her new routines and people, all with patience and consistency. - Experience with Jack Russell Terrier would be bonus, but not necessary.
