Joker is available for Foster to Adopt!
***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form***
As a foster-to-adopt family, you will have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.
During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.
Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit
https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Meet Joker! He was rescued by our partner in Mexico, and while his history is unknown-he’s looking for a bright future here in Canada! Joker's foster describes him as a spunky little low rider who loves to cuddle. This little guy is hard to take photos of because he can’t seem to sit still long enough! He is sweet, gentle, and a bit mischievous. He loves to be pet and will give you endless kisses if you let him. He loves to play but also enjoys sitting and watching the world go by.
Joker is great with new people and people he knows. He prefers to meet new people are neutral territory instead of in his home. Outside of the home he is curious and wants to great everyone he sees. He has only met children 9+ but he loved being around them. Younger children would have to be watched more carefully as Joker likes to resource guard.
Joker loves people and gets along with friendly dogs. He would do well with a resident dog who can teach him how to be a pet. Joker has not been tested with cats and is looking for a cat-free home at this time. A home where his human(s) are around most of the time would be ideal. We don’t believe he had ever been in a home, or had a family prior to arriving to Canada. Everything was new to him but within a few weeks, he had completely adapted.
Joker is an intelligent and a medium-high energy dog. He will need at least two 30 minute walks a day and plenty of canine enrichment. He loves bones, food puzzles, and lots of sniffing. His new family should be prepared to support him with basic training, such as manners and leash skills. Joker is potty trained but his adopters should prepare for some accidents as he transitions to a new home. He is food motivated and will focus easily when indoors. Joker currently knows basic commands like sit, lay down, to stay out of the kitchen and come.
He sleeps in his crate overnight and goes in without any hesitations. He is left free rein for short periods with no issues. Joker has not been left alone for long periods but does not show signs of separation anxiety.
