CURRENTLY FOSTERED IN TEXAS Hartley is apx 5 years young and weighs 13.5 pounds. He is a funny kid. We are assuming Jack Russell terrier mixed with Chihuahua but he takes up 85% JRT traits and 15 % chihuahua. He is very stubborn, honorary at times, and has selective hearing. He also loves to play a good game of chase when you are trying to get him inside . He does not show a huge prey drive here but he is a confident dog and very alert. Some training would do him very well. All this to be said, he is also very loving and affectionate. He is not a huge fan of someone grabbing his head /face or neck area in a quick manner. Judging by his scars on his body and his appearance when he came in and how he acted at the shelter, I am guessing that Hartley has had a very crappy life before coming to us and has possibly been abused. It is also a little hard to tell what days he is going to decide to be a Jack Russell and what days he is going to decide to be a lazy Chihuahua. Sometimes he is the most laid-back dude you have ever met. He is observant and quiet and just kind of sits around and does nothing and then other days he is on green light lol he LOVES toys and butt scratches. I would not put him with young children under the age of 10 just because of the face aversion (he has never bitten or growled) . I also do not think he would do well with very dominant dogs that test him, he has a little stubborn streak and I am not sure would back down easily. He certainly sets the tone in the play yard with the boys that he is the boss man, but he can also be very gentle and loving and has been with other dogs both at the shelter and with us here. He is not bad with dogs, I just dont think he will back down if another dog bows up on him. he was found as a stray and was probably on the streets for all of his life . He really enjoys being inside, having a bed, toys, attention and blankets, but I think he is still learning how to be a “pet “ and not a stray. He just needs a little extra TLC, someone that is dog savvy, someone that has patience and a lot of love to give and is willing to put some training into him as I think that would greatly benefit him . He needs a leader. If you baby him he walk all over you, he is very smart and he knows the “mom voice” haha . He is a good boy, deserving of a loving family. When I was found, the lower part of my right hind leg, below the knee, was already missing. Life hasn’t always been easy, but I still have so much warmth and affection to share. Now, I’m hoping to find a loving family and discover the joy of growing close to someone, one little step at a time. I may be a little cautious at first. But if you give me time to feel safe, I’ll gradually show you all the lovely little sides of my personality. A LITTLE ABOUT MY HEALTH The lower part of my right hind leg, below the knee, is missing. I walk with a slight limp, but I manage my everyday activities well. Long walks can tire me out, so please walk gently at my pace and let me rest when I need to. I love exploring the world at a comfortable, unhurried pace. During kennel transport, I sometimes develop sores at the end of my right hind leg. My caregivers say that previous sores have healed quickly with cleaning and antibiotic ointment. I would appreciate a little extra care and attention to this area when we travel. MY PERSONALITY I can be a little shy when we first meet, but it doesn’t take me too long to warm up. A gentle approach and a few tasty treats can help me feel comfortable enough to open my heart. I’m a calm, gentle girl with lovely manners. Around other dogs, I’m considerate and tend to go along with my friends. I may not be the first to rush over to greet you, but I have my own quiet way of showing love. Once I feel comfortable, I’ll come closer and share my sweet, affectionate side. I haven’t met children under 13 yet, so we don’t know how comfortable I would feel around younger children. • With Dogs I’m friendly toward dogs of all sizes. I’m gentle, polite, and happy to adapt to my doggy friends. • With Cats My reaction to cats hasn’t been observed yet. MY FAVORITE BALANCE OF ACTIVITY AND REST I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy spending time outdoors, and afterward, I’m happy to settle down and rest quietly at home. Long walks can be tiring because of my right hind leg, so please follow my pace. With little breaks along the way, I can enjoy our outings more comfortably. MY EVERYDAY HABITS I have plenty of walking experience and follow my handler well without pulling on the leash. I’d love for us to enjoy walks that feel comfortable for me, without pushing me to walk too far. I don’t guard food from people or other dogs. I rarely bark, and I’m a calm girl who enjoys a peaceful daily routine. I toilet both indoors and outdoors. In a new home, I’ll need a little time to learn where to go and how our days will unfold. A consistent routine and gentle guidance will help me settle in. Hello, my future family! My name is Sandeul, and I’m a 1-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix boy, weighing about 13.2 lbs (6 kg). If you met me, I’d probably greet you with a curious little face and wonder if you might have some love—and maybe a tasty snack—to share with me. 😊 My sister Saebom and I were found after we were left behind in a rural village. One day, the person who had been with us simply left, and we suddenly had to figure out what happened next. Thankfully, we were rescued and brought to the Dream Tails Adoption Center, where I’m now safe and waiting for my real forever family. I’m a very friendly boy who enjoys being around people. I don’t need a long time to warm up to most new people, and once I feel comfortable, I’m happy to stay close and enjoy their company.
