Story
Adopt Jack : The 25lb Tornado of Joy!   Meet Jack — 6 years young, 25 pounds of pure muscle, chaos, and cuddles. Nicknamed  Jackass  (lovingly, we promise), this little guy is a one-dog comedy show with a high-jump that would make Olympic athletes jealous. Seriously, we’re not saying he’s part kangaroo, but we’ve never seen them in the same room…   Jack lives for walks, stuffed toys, and launching himself into the air like he just heard the treat bag open. He’s got the energy of a triple-shot espresso and the personality of that one friend who always ends up on the table at parties.   Important PSA: Jack takes his toys  very  seriously. Like, “not for sharing” seriously. So he’s not the best match for homes with small children who might try to borrow his prized squeaky dinosaur (RIP Squeaky #4).   But if you’re looking for a hilarious, loyal, and slightly dramatic sidekick who turns every day into an adventure —  Jack  is your guy.   Adopt him. You’ll never need a TV again. Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com to find out if jack is the right one for you! (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US!  We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php and http://www.hollysden.com/say_no_to_shock.htm (scroll down and click on the  "Invisible Fencing Systems" link). We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 17, 2025, 10:14 pm

Story
Always on the lookout for dogs that need rescuing, one of our kennel staff saved siblings Diego and Dora from a flea market. These two were a natural to come into rescue with us. They are a mix of Jack Russell and Heeler and are only 3 months old. Right now, they each weigh around 6 pounds, but they'll mature to between 30 and 35 pounds. Both very sweet, they can be a bit shy but only at first. They love to play with toys as well as other dogs. They're both crate trained. Such sweetness! (posted 12/24/25, ME) Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $160.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **December 24, 2025, 12:34 pm

Story
Bonnie is a 2-year-old Jackabull (Jack Russell/Pit Bull mix) with a heart that truly belongs to her person. She is incredibly sweet, deeply loyal, and thrives on close human companionship. Bonnie isn’t just a dog — she’s the kind of companion who wants to be by your side, on your lap, or cuddled up next to you on the couch whenever possible. Bonnie would do best as the only dog in the home, as she is insecure around other dogs and tends to resource guard her human, who she views as her greatest treasure. Because of this, she is also best suited for a home without young children. A calm, adult household — such as an older couple, a widower, or anyone looking for a devoted, one-on-one companion — would be ideal for her. She is fully housebroken, walks beautifully on a leash, and is up to date on all vaccines. Bonnie is food-motivated, which makes her eager to please and easy to work with using positive reinforcement. While she is not crate trained, she is accustomed to being on furniture and loves nothing more than being close to her human at all times. Bonnie handles routine care very well. She allows nail trims with gentle talking and slow movements, is comfortable having her teeth checked, and tolerates full physical handling for regular health inspections. Her affectionate nature, combined with her loyalty, makes her an incredibly rewarding companion for the right home. Bonnie has so much love and joy to give — she’s looking for someone who will treat her like family and cherish the unconditional devotion she offers in return. Apply today to adopt Bonnie.
