Story
Meet Cocoon Age: 2 years Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Brown Weight: 16 kg (35 lbs) Height: 49 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story   Cocoon was rescued from a small mountain village where he had been confined in a raised wire cage, kept for meat purposes along with two other dogs. A kind individual began secretly taking care of them. Around Boknal (the traditional summer days associated with dog meat consumption), the two other dogs disappeared. Determined to save the remaining dog, a report for abuse was filed, and after significant confrontation with the owner, Cocoon was finally rescued in October 2025.   He is now experiencing life outside of a cage for the very first time.   ‍‍‍ Social with People   Cocoon is affectionate and friendly, not only with familiar people but also with strangers. He happily approaches for pets and leans his body in for affection.   He currently lives with children under 13 and does very well with them.   When his people return home, he can get overly excited and may jump up enthusiastically — younger children could accidentally get knocked over during these moments. With structure and training, this can continue to improve.   He allows being picked up (arms under his belly) and will show his tummy once he feels comfortable.   Social with Other Dogs   Cocoon is generally friendly and curious with other dogs. He approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and initiate play, especially those similar in size or larger than him.   If another dog challenges him, he may respond, so careful introductions are important at first.   With dogs he knows well — especially confident “big brother” types — he can be submissive and even roll over to show his belly.   On walks, he wants to greet every dog he sees. His enthusiasm can be overwhelming for shy dogs, and if another dog reacts defensively, Cocoon may stand his ground rather than back away.   Cats   Cocoon has not been formally tested with cats. However, he does show interest in birds and small movements outdoors and may try to lunge toward them. While manageable on leash, he appears to have some prey drive. A cat-experienced home would be safest.   Energy Level   Having lived confined for much of his life, Cocoon is now discovering the world with curiosity and excitement. He is highly interested in everything happening around him.   Previously, he would become very excited when seeing other dogs during walks, but he is gradually becoming more stable and regulated.   With sufficient outdoor activity and enrichment, he settles nicely at home.   Walking   Cocoon can pull on leash, especially at the beginning of walks due to excitement and curiosity. After about 30 minutes, his energy noticeably decreases and he walks more calmly.   With consistent daily walks and routine, he continues to improve.   He enjoys sniffing much more than fast walking — expect lots of stop-and-go sniff breaks.   Other Behaviors   • Does not guard food from humans • May growl if another dog approaches while eating • Accepts treats politely when sitting side-by-side • Can be vocal when playing with other dogs • Calm in a kennel • Jumps in and out of the car independently • Primarily eliminates outdoors • Marks frequently during walks   Ideal Home   Cocoon would thrive in an active home that can provide: Consistent structure and leadership Proper dog introductions Continued leash and impulse control training Plenty of outdoor enrichment   He is a resilient, affectionate survivor who is learning what it means to be safe and loved.   After everything he has endured, Cocoon deserves a home where he will never be confined again — only cherished. Story
Name: Daram Age: 3 years Sex: Spayed Female Neutered: Yes Breed: Jindo mix Color: Beige Weight: 15 kg Height (shoulder): 46 cm   Rescue Story   Daram first entered the city shelter in July 2023 without his mother. He spent about a year living in the shelter before being rescued in June 2024 and moved to the AKR center.   She was suffering from a skin condition and was quite timid, so he was not ready for adoption right away. In October 2025, he moved to a foster home where he spent about five months receiving treatment for his skin and working on socialization, including learning to enjoy walks.   Daram has a patch of missing fur in the middle of her back. It is believed that the area was shaved at the shelter to check a wound, and the fur unfortunately did not grow back.   ‍‍ Socialization with People   Daram can be a little shy with new people at first. He will take treats and slowly warms up, but usually only allows petting after she has had time to get to know someone.   With her foster mom, whom she has lived with for about five months, she happily runs over when called and shows lots of affection. She is a dog who needs a little time to build trust, but once she bonds with someone, she becomes incredibly loving and devoted.   She is comfortable being gently lifted by placing an arm under her belly, and when she feels safe with someone, she will even show his belly.   Socialization with Other Dogs   Daram will greet unfamiliar dogs politely but usually does not play with them. However, when she meets a dog he likes, she becomes very happy, wags his tail, and follows them around.   She tends to feel uncomfortable around high-energy dogs but is a true peacekeeper — even if another dog tries to provoke her, she simply avoids conflict.   She relies quite a bit on other dogs for comfort, and having another calm dog in the home can help her relax much more quickly in new environments.   With Cats   During walks, she may look at cats out of curiosity, but she calmly follows her handler when guided away.   Energy Level   Daram has a very low energy level indoors and loves to rest quietly — she spends most of his time relaxing and sleeping.   When she goes outside, she becomes a bit more cheerful and interested in her surroundings, but even then she moves at a gentle pace. She is a very relaxed and easygoing dog.   Walks   Daram has plenty of walking experience and walks well on leash without pulling. She enjoys quiet areas and follows her person nicely.   However, very busy roads with heavy traffic can sometimes make her nervous, so her foster usually takes her to calmer places for walks.   Other Notes   • No food guarding toward people or other dogs • No separation anxiety — she stays home alone very well • Rarely barks • Currently does outdoor potty • Car rides are still a little scary for her and she may drool due to motion sickness. Using a non-slip mat seems to help.   If you’re looking for a gentle, quiet companion who forms deep bonds with her people, Daram may be the perfect match. She simply needs a little patience at first — and once she trusts you, she will love you with her whole heart.
