Story
Meet Cocoon Age: 2 years Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Brown Weight: 16 kg (35 lbs) Height: 49 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story   Cocoon was rescued from a small mountain village where he had been confined in a raised wire cage, kept for meat purposes along with two other dogs. A kind individual began secretly taking care of them. Around Boknal (the traditional summer days associated with dog meat consumption), the two other dogs disappeared. Determined to save the remaining dog, a report for abuse was filed, and after significant confrontation with the owner, Cocoon was finally rescued in October 2025.   He is now experiencing life outside of a cage for the very first time.   ‍‍‍ Social with People   Cocoon is affectionate and friendly, not only with familiar people but also with strangers. He happily approaches for pets and leans his body in for affection.   He currently lives with children under 13 and does very well with them.   When his people return home, he can get overly excited and may jump up enthusiastically — younger children could accidentally get knocked over during these moments. With structure and training, this can continue to improve.   He allows being picked up (arms under his belly) and will show his tummy once he feels comfortable.   Social with Other Dogs   Cocoon is generally friendly and curious with other dogs. He approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and initiate play, especially those similar in size or larger than him.   If another dog challenges him, he may respond, so careful introductions are important at first.   With dogs he knows well — especially confident “big brother” types — he can be submissive and even roll over to show his belly.   On walks, he wants to greet every dog he sees. His enthusiasm can be overwhelming for shy dogs, and if another dog reacts defensively, Cocoon may stand his ground rather than back away.   Cats   Cocoon has not been formally tested with cats. However, he does show interest in birds and small movements outdoors and may try to lunge toward them. While manageable on leash, he appears to have some prey drive. A cat-experienced home would be safest.   Energy Level   Having lived confined for much of his life, Cocoon is now discovering the world with curiosity and excitement. He is highly interested in everything happening around him.   Previously, he would become very excited when seeing other dogs during walks, but he is gradually becoming more stable and regulated.   With sufficient outdoor activity and enrichment, he settles nicely at home.   Walking   Cocoon can pull on leash, especially at the beginning of walks due to excitement and curiosity. After about 30 minutes, his energy noticeably decreases and he walks more calmly.   With consistent daily walks and routine, he continues to improve.   He enjoys sniffing much more than fast walking — expect lots of stop-and-go sniff breaks.   Other Behaviors   • Does not guard food from humans • May growl if another dog approaches while eating • Accepts treats politely when sitting side-by-side • Can be vocal when playing with other dogs • Calm in a kennel • Jumps in and out of the car independently • Primarily eliminates outdoors • Marks frequently during walks   Ideal Home   Cocoon would thrive in an active home that can provide: Consistent structure and leadership Proper dog introductions Continued leash and impulse control training Plenty of outdoor enrichment   He is a resilient, affectionate survivor who is learning what it means to be safe and loved.   After everything he has endured, Cocoon deserves a home where he will never be confined again — only cherished. Story
Janggo Age: 2 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Beige, Black, White Weight: 15 kg Height (shoulder): 50 cm   Rescue Story Janggo was rescued from a wildfire-affected area in 2025. She had been taken by a household to be used as a wild boar hunting dog, but because of her gentle nature, she was deemed unsuitable. Instead, she was tied up and left to guard a field.   ‍‍ Personality with People Janggo is naturally affectionate and enjoys being around people, but due to her past of being tethered and isolated, she can be cautious and a little timid with strangers at first.   If someone nearby has treats, she will approach on her own—sometimes pawing gently to ask for them . When approached for petting, she may briefly step back, but once she feels safe, she lowers her body and comes closer, even lying down to be petted.   In open spaces, she may initially avoid being caught and run before settling. However, once she bonds, she becomes very affectionate—approaching first, rolling onto her back, and asking for belly rubs   It took her about three weeks after rescue to fully trust her caregivers at the center. She can be picked up by supporting under her belly, and once comfortable, she happily shows her belly.   She also knows basic commands such as sit, down, and wait.   With Other Dogs Janggo is very social and friendly with other dogs. She approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and play, regardless of their size. Even if another dog provokes her, she tends to avoid conflict and shows a gentle temperament.   With Cats She may try to chase moving cats during walks, but shows little interest in cats that are stationary.   Energy Level She has a moderate energy level. After sufficient outdoor activity, she settles down calmly to rest. When she has compatible playmates, she enjoys running and playing, then resting in between . If there are no playmates, she is content to relax on her own.   Leash & Walks Janggo is both curious and a little cautious. On calm, familiar routes—or when following interesting scents—she may pull slightly in the direction she wants to go.   In busier urban environments, she tends to stay close to her handler. She often walks with her ears slightly back, showing she may feel a bit uneasy in crowded areas. Sudden loud noises can startle her at times.   Other Behaviours • No food guarding toward people or other dogs • May bark to ask to come out when other dogs are being let out • May show demand barking before meals • Tends to bark along if other dogs bark at unfamiliar people • Settles in a kennel after a brief period of whining • Experiences motion sickness in the car • Primarily does outdoor potty • Tolerates baths well and is calm during nail trimming • Overall gentle and easy-going temperament   Janggo is a sweet and gentle girl who just needs a little time to build confidence. Once she feels safe, her affectionate and loving personality truly shines Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook or Instagram! Meet Joan – A Sweet and Gentle Jindo Mix Puppy Looking for Her Forever Home   Joan is a beautiful 6-month-old Jindo mix rescued from a dog meat farm, and despite her difficult beginning, she has grown into an incredibly loving, social, and gentle puppy with a heart full of trust and affection.   Name: Joan Age: 6 months Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Ivory Weight: 10.6kg Height: 43cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Joan was rescued from a dog meat farm and is now ready to start a new chapter filled with love, safety, and happiness.   Social with People Joan absolutely adores people. She happily approaches both familiar faces and strangers for affection, leans in for pets, and enjoys being touched by everyone — men and women alike. She is comfortable being picked up with arms under her belly and will even roll over to show her belly to people she has just met.   Social with Other Dogs Joan is extremely friendly and playful with other dogs regardless of their size. She enjoys greeting new dogs and inviting them to play. Even around high-energy or pushy dogs, Joan tends to avoid conflict rather than react, and she integrates very naturally into group play without causing trouble.   Cats Joan has not yet been observed around cats, but cat testing can be arranged.   Energy Level She has a moderate energy level. Joan enjoys outdoor activities and walks, but once she has had exercise, she settles down calmly and relaxes nicely indoors.   Walks Since Joan does not have extensive walking experience yet, she may hesitate when something unfamiliar or scary appears. However, she is naturally curious and, with a little patience and reassurance, she follows along very well.   Additional Notes Joan does not guard food from people or other dogs and rarely barks. She stays calm and quiet in a kennel. She is a little nervous about getting into the car and usually needs to be lifted in, but once inside she settles well. She generally prefers going potty outdoors.   Joan is a truly sweet-natured puppy who would thrive in a loving home willing to continue helping her build confidence while giving her the affection and stability she deserves.   If you’re looking for a gentle, social, and easygoing companion, Joan may be the perfect addition to your family. Story
Meet Lily, a five-year-old, spayed Jindo mix girl with a beautiful yellow coat and a solid 20kg frame. Lily is a sweet, timid girl who needs a gentle and patient companion to bring out her best self. She’s not one for forced interactions or being picked up, as these situations can overwhelm her. While she has no aggression whatsoever, her go-to response when afraid is to avoid and retreat. A calm and understanding adopter who enjoys the process of building trust—perhaps with treats and positive reinforcement—would be the perfect match for her. Lily tends to freeze up if strangers try to touch her, though she tolerates it without protest. She’s not naturally outgoing, but her subtle displays of affection, like a wagging tail in the morning to greet her primary caregiver, are incredibly rewarding. While she’s okay with being petted and even kissed, she doesn’t actively seek attention and may show slight discomfort. Because of her sensitivity, Lily would not do well in a home with young children, as their unpredictable movements and rough handling might stress her out. When it comes to other dogs, Lily can be selective. She may engage in conflict if another dog provokes her or if they’re overly excitable or nervous. She’s best introduced to new canine friends carefully, as she prefers to avoid greetings with unfamiliar dogs during walks. Despite this, she has no issues sharing space with compatible, calm dogs. While she has no resource guarding issues with humans, she may growl if another dog approaches her food. Outdoorsy adopters will be thrilled to know that Lily is a seasoned walker who loves hiking and exploring nature. She walks beautifully on the leash without pulling and has a balanced energy level—active and engaged outdoors but calm and relaxed at home after a good outing. Lily’s also a great travel companion. She’s a pro in the car, calmly riding in a kennel or hopping in and out of vehicles on her own with just a little guidance. She’s mostly an outdoor potty dog and is easy to manage in this regard. With her gentle demeanor, hiking-ready attitude, and polite leash manners, Lily is ready to be a loyal companion to someone who will appreciate her subtle charm and respect her boundaries.
