Story
Maya and Lobo are a friendly pair of labs who came to us as owner surrenders after their family could no longer care for them. They lived mostly outdoors, however, are quickly acclimating to the luxuries of indoor living, seeming to be housebroken with affinities for comfy beds! Maya is a loving, gentle girl who thinks she’s a lapdog! She greets you with a happy smile and nudge for attention. Lobo is a friendly, sweet mellow guy who also loves to be pet and get attention. They both are very bonded to each other, have been together their whole lives and will only be re-homed together. Both dogs have grown up alongside a child from 2 - 9 years old and were very gentle. We’re working on addressing some needed vet care and both pups need to lose about 30 lbs. But they are overall in good health and looking for a loving, patient home where they can go home together and continue their wellness journey!

Story
Rosie | Yellow Lab | 10-Years-Old | Spayed Female | Approx. 60 lbs. Sweet Rosie came to us originally in 2023 and has lived with kids, dogs and cats throughout her life and done well. However, the more we continue to learn about this sensitive girl, she likely is looking for a quieter home in her senior years, where she can live out her retirement getting all the attention she deserves. Rosie is an energetic senior who loves to play fetch, with toys, romp in the backyard and go on daily sniffaris. She loves to play with other dogs but is happy to come home and snuggle once she has had her daily outings. Rosie is looking for a calm, quiet home - a doggie friend would be a bonus, but mostly she is searching for consistent and dedicated humans.

Story
Meet our Mexican rescue, Canelo. 🐾 Canelo is a 7-month-old Lab mix weighing about 30 pounds, and he’s expected to grow into a medium-sized dog of around 40–55 pounds. Not every puppy gets a second chance. Canelo almost didn’t. At just a few months old, he was found alone on the streets of Jalisco, Mexico after being separated from his siblings when they were abandoned. He was miles away from them, painfully thin, suffering from bronchitis, and so weak he could barely stand. Every rib and bone showed. No puppy should ever have to start life that way. Today, thanks to months of love, veterinary care, and dedicated fostering, Canelo is finally healthy and safe in San Francisco. Now all he needs is the one thing we can’t give him—a forever family. Canelo is a happy, goofy, active puppy with a huge personality. He loves playing with other dogs but also enjoys winding down in the evenings with a favorite chew or toy. He’s sassy, playful, and guaranteed to make you laugh as he navigates his rambunctious teenage puppy phase. He loves rolling in the grass, chewing on toys (he’s still teething!), going for car rides, visiting dog parks, and joining every adventure. He’s food motivated and eager to learn. He already knows sit, paw, high five, and twirl—all in Spanish! He’s house-trained and thrives with structure, continued training, daily exercise, and enrichment. He would make an incredible hiking, running, or adventure companion. Canelo would do best with an active, dog-savvy adopter committed to positive reinforcement. A home with a confident, well-socialized larger dog would be an excellent match, and a yard or active lifestyle would help him burn off his puppy energy. Due to his mouthy, excitable teenage puppy behavior, he’s also not the best fit for homes with young children. Canelo has overcome more in seven months than most dogs experience in a lifetime. While his siblings’ stories remain unknown, he was one of the lucky ones who survived and made it to the United States for a chance at a better life. But his journey isn’t complete yet. He survived. He learned to trust again. Now he’s just waiting for someone to choose him. Please help us find Canelo the forever family he’s been waiting for. ❤️

Story
This incredible boy was found abandoned in an orchard, where he had likely been on his own for months. He was starving, dehydrated, and in terrible shape when he was finally discovered. Thanks to an amazing rescue network, Gabe was saved and flown to Napa, where he came into the care of Family Dog. When Gabe arrived, he needed serious help. He spent more than a week in the veterinary hospital receiving treatment for painful skin issues, eye infections, and overall neglect. He had bloodwork done, medical care, and time to rest and recover. And then came the best news we could have hoped for: despite everything he had endured, Gabe had no long-term health issues. Since then, Gabe has been nothing short of a miracle. With proper care, good food, love, and time, his skin has healed, his coat has started growing back, and he has gained much-needed weight. The scared, neglected dog who arrived in such heartbreaking condition has transformed into the beautiful, healthy, happy boy he was always meant to be. And through it all, Gabe has remained the sweetest soul. He loves people. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He is gentle, affectionate, trusting, and kind in a way that feels truly special after all he has been through. Gabe is one of those dogs who reminds you just how forgiving and resilient animals can be. Now, after surviving the unimaginable and fighting his way back to health, Gabe is finally ready for the next chapter: a forever family of his own. He deserves the very best happy ending — a home where he will never be hungry, never be forgotten, and never have to wonder if he is safe or loved again. Gabe is not just looking for a home. He is looking for his person, his family, his soft place to land. And whoever gets to love him will be incredibly lucky.
