My name is Maka. I'm a great boy looking for a new home! I came to Hopalong because my first family could no longer take care of me after 7 years.   I am very obedient and calm. I'm really dog social, great with people, and love to please. I already know how to sit, stay, and lay down. I go to the bathroom in the outside yard, but I prefer to do my business when on a walk.   I do not jump up when it's time to eat, but instead wait patiently until I'm told to eat. I do not hoard food and am a slow eater. While I do have my favorite foods, I will eat anything. I do protect the home and I will let you know when strangers arrive but will relax when you tell me it's ok.   Some of my favorite things to do are going for walks and lying in the sun. My foster sometimes works in the backyard, and I just hang out next to him. Lita arrived to us as her owner was unable to keep her in their current living situation. Lita has been primarily outside her whole life. She is a shy girl but does seek attention and enjoys pets. She previously lived with another dog. When meeting a dog at the shelter she was a little tense at first, however relaxed quickly. We are recommending a quiet home with older children (Teens & Up) as she can get overwhelmed. Lita has had it rough and not to her fault has been re-homed more than one time. Stella is a sweet black lab/ golden retriever mix. She has been an integral part of our family, but an unforeseen move has made it so that we have to find a new home for her. Stella has a gentle and loving disposition, is patient with young children, and gets along well with other dogs. She has never been around cats, so she may be on the curious side if she is to meet one. Unfortunately, Stella is no stranger to being home alone during long work days. She is also a survivor of a house fire that has left her a little cautious of chirping smoke detectors (she may hide in the bathroom). Stella is a good listener. If a gate is left open she may peek out, but she'll stay in the yard. She can sit and shake hands. She does drool in the car during road trips, but she is a well-travelled pup all the same.
