Labrador Retriever Mixed Breed (Medium)

Story
Sandy and his brother Don were found in the hills as strays at about 3 months of age. A man took them in and raised them until they were about 8 months old when circumstances forced him to give them up. They came to the Sanctuary very wary and timid. Everything is new to them. But they have quickly warmed up to staff, and are learning to walk on a leash. Sandy is extremely affectionate once he is comfortable with you. A big lap dog! Both boys are very food motivated, but eat together....no food or resource guarding. Sandy readily gives up his bowl or whatever his brother wants from him. He is a gentle, loving guy. Sandy will make a great and loyal companion but will need a calm, patient human to show him the world beyond the deep woods in the hills. The staff loves both of these boys. Please call 707-459-4900 for more information on Sandy.

Story
Willie is dog-friendly. He is dominant, however, and a little food-aggressive. He doesn't share with other dogs and takes a while to get comfortable with new people. He is energetic and playful, and would be a great hiking buddy (on-leash kind of guy!) Willie is protective of his people and is not by any stretch for a beginner; he is a dog for a very experienced home. Adults only.

Story
Story is playful, clever, and always up for an adventure! He aced his training classes and loves making friends—whether it’s with people, other dogs, or even the occasional cat (when they’ll allow it). He’s at home on a hiking trail or racing around the city dog park, where he’s just as happy chasing a ball as he is being chased by his dog buddies. Story is a pro at off-leash parks and beaches, and his recall is excellent. He’s well socialized to both city and country life, unfazed by bikes, and even good around skateboards. Story forms strong bonds with his people and has happily lived with a family of five. However, he can occasionally be startled by unfamiliar children, so we’re recommending an adult-only home just to be safe. His energy is a perfect medium—always eager for a walk or an adventure, but content to relax at home, often at your feet or close by. Story is healthy, fit, and a wonderful companion.

Meet Baxter! He is a sweet loving boy who tends to bond quickly to his person. He is very playful and will need a home that is active and can provide lots of mental stimulation. He is not kid friendly and would do well in a household in a rural setting. Baxter aka Bax Street Boy, is very cuddly and affectionate once he trusts you. He gives excellent kisses and has a very soft coat. He loves scratches and gets the zoomies frequently--his happiness is adorable and so endearing! He would love a more rural environment where it's quiet and where he has space to run around. He would love an adult only home who don't have that many visitors as he can be nervous with anyone new. ADOPTION FEE: $500

Meet our lovely Labby Boy, Truckee! What a charming and easy going dog he is! He loves his walks, and chills out after some initial pulling, though once he gets into a routine and less kennel time, with consistency he should learn pretty quickly to walk at your side. He plays then settles in for love and attention. Very friendly with all he meets, Truckee will make a great family dog with sturdy, older kids, or just playful adults with time for daily activities, hikes, trips to the park or beach! He would love a home where he can get lots of attention, run around a yard ideally with a playmate, and play with his toys. Training and consistency will go far with this affectionate goofball!

Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. **My adoption fee is one half off! Adoption fee: $200.** Melody has it all and wants to share it with her forever family! This beautiful nugget of a dog is smart, affectionate, and great with teenagers (16 & up). Young, energetic, and people-oriented, she just wants to play the day away with her people in a yard or go walking on trails. Melody needs a firm guardian and correction for the jumping and nipping she does - small little grabs at clothes and occasionally that tiny little bit of a pinch on skin - she can be an exuberant jumping bean! We have worked with her but it needs to continue - trying to crop her wings and keep her grounded is a fete! Melody is not a dog park dog, she is an alpha dog, and a super physical player. She is best suited to being the only dog in a home and no cats or young children. She is happy to run and play in a yard; she loves treats and may do scent work - hide and seek.... She is best with stay at home folks with a big yard and as a running companion! This girl is a real go-getter like a big active lab crammed into a tidy little chunk of a body that's bursting at the seams! Because of her active nature, Melody will do best in an environment with a tall, secure fence. Her above average intelligence has led her to become a bit of an escape artist and she is adept at climbing fences and opening doors (but not to run away... just to be with you!). However, these tendencies are fixable since Melody is a good listener who is eager to please and very treat motivated. Melody understands hand signals and voice commands, she will stop any undesirable behavior with correction, and making the effort, providing consistency and enough exercise she will want to please! If you think you are ready for a go-getter-girl like Melody, come meet her at Milo today! **Melody's adoption fee is one half off! Adoption fee: $200. Melody comes with a 20 day get acquainted period with her adoption, time to adjust to her new surroundings. Please give time and patience to new adoptees, particularly dogs from the Milo Sanctuary. Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.

Story
Note: Special Needs Dog due to Behavior/Shyness. This dog is bonded and must be adopted with Pepe. Are you looking for a gorgeous dog? What about a very shy dog? If you answered yes to both of these questions, Chee Yoo could be the perfect dog for you. Chee Yoo is a beautiful, 5 yo medium/large female dog that came to Jelly's Place from South Korea in July 2021. Why has such a wonderful dog not been adopted yet? Read further to find out. Chee Yoo is very timid and nervous around people. She LOVES other dogs, and has become best friends with another Jelly's dog named Pepe. Pepe has a very similar personality to Chee Yoo and the two of them are like 2 peas in a pod. Chee Yoo can guard her food which is not surprising given where she came from. So, care needs to be taken with another dog when food, especially high value foods, are around. During her time at Jelly's Place, Chee Yoo has gone from hiding in the corner to taking daily walks on a leash. She is becoming more comfortable and confident, but still has a long way to go. She has learned to trust her primary caregiver, but is still not comfortable interacting with other people. Chee Yoo would do best in a calm, quiet home with dog experience and older or no children. Chee Yoo is NOT a dog for first time adopters. She needs adopters who are willing to be patient and to give her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable, confident and loved. Another dog in the home is essential. and we prefer to keep Chee Yoo with her buddy Pepe. If you are interested in adopting Chee Yoo, we recommend that you come and spend time with her on several occasions so that she becomes comfortable with you. Chee Yoo is UTD on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Applications are being accepted and qualified applicants will be contacted.
