Story
Meet Mr. Potato, a sweet mini lab mix with a big heart! He was found as a stray in Bakersfield, a city where too many dogs are sadly abandoned. He is about 1.5 years old and weighs 29 pounds. While he is still settling in at Shelter Hope and can be a bit timid, we are learning more about Mr. Potato’s personality every day as he gradually opens up. He is affectionate, thoughtful, and loves being close to people, soaking up gentle pets. This chill, curious little guy enjoys observing the world around him and is friendly and sweet with kids and other dogs. With patience, plenty of treats, and positive reinforcement, he is slowly gaining confidence. If you’re looking for a relaxed, loving, and loyal friend who will grow in trust and affection with the right person, Mr. Potato is ready to meet you and blossom in his forever home! ------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Step 1) Application Step 2) Phone Interview Step 3) Appointment Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only. Be ready to adopt: If selected, our rescue counselor will contact you to schedule a phone interview. Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. More on our process: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!
