Story
Brownie — who may also be called “Chaucer,” because like the characters in The Canterbury Tales, he’s on a pilgrimage — could it be to find you? Brownie is outstanding in the home, wonderful with kids, and excellent with people. While he hasn’t been officially cat-tested, he may be okay with cats as well. He’s truly a foster favorite. He is gentle, affectionate, empathetic, and deeply loyal. And he has those antenna ears! Brownie has had a difficult past. He was found in a dumpster along the San Fernando Highway, and there is reasonable evidence that he may have been used as a bait dog. Because of this trauma, he must be the only dog in his home. When Brownie first came into rescue, he required urgent veterinary care, including the removal of embedded foxtails. He has since fully recovered and is thriving, with a soft coat, bright eyes, and a growing sense of safety and confidence. Brownie has completed professional training with Cade Overturf of Your Best Companion and has made wonderful progress. To support a successful transition, complimentary training sessions are included for his adopter, providing guidance and continuity as he settles into his forever home. Brownie loves walks, hikes, tug-of-war, and simply being by your side. He enjoys training, responds well to structure, and blossoms with consistent, calm leadership and affection. He is a kind soul with so much love to give and will be a devoted companion for the person or family ready to offer him a stable, dog-free home and a fresh chapter. Note from foster: Brownie is a gentle, affectionate dog who thrives with structure and consistency. He’s calm in the house, enjoys his walks and training, and forms a deep bond with his person. Because of his past, he needs to be the only dog in the home, but with people he is loyal, intuitive, and deeply loving. With a stable, dog-free home and continued guidance, Brownie will be a devoted and rewarding companion.

Story
Meet Duncan! Duncan’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. When we saw him on social media listed for euthanasia due to severe skin issues, dental disease, and his age, we knew we couldn’t let that be the end of his story. We stepped in and brought him to CARES, where our team quickly realized he needed specialized dermatology care. At MASH, Dr. Ganz performed a full exam and biopsies, fearing possible autoimmune disease or skin lymphoma. Thankfully, the results came back negative for cancer and autoimmune disease — just chronic inflammation! With Atopica and medicated baths, Duncan’s skin is healing beautifully. It may never be perfect, but he’s feeling so much better and thriving every day! Duncan is a 9-year-old, 45-pound Lab mix with a heart as big as his smile — and yes, he really does smile! He’s sweet, loving, and full of playful energy. He listens well, aims to please, and adores being around people. Duncan shines as a family dog — gentle and patient with kids, loyal to his people, and always ready for fun. He loves chasing balls, carrying toys, and resting his head (or whole body!) right in your lap. If you’re looking for a joyful, devoted companion who will fill your home with love and laughter, Duncan is your guy!

Story
Meet Stella: A Sweet Soul Searching for Her Forever Home! Stella is an 8-year-young Labrador mix with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines! She adores people and enjoys playing with bigger dogs, making her a wonderful companion for an adult-only home where she can be the spoiled queen she deserves to be. This resilient girl was found on the streets after a kind-hearted Good Samaritan feared she had been hit by a car. Thankfully, she hadn’t—but she still needed a hero. That’s when Hope For Paws stepped in to rescue her! Now, Stella is ready to find a forever home or a foster family to shower her with love. Though she has a bit of arthritis (as wise pups do!), she still loves to run, play, and chase after her favorite tennis balls. She’s a perfect mix of playful and cuddly—a loyal friend who just wants a safe, loving place to call home. Could you be the one to give Stella her happily ever after? If you’re interested in adopting or fostering this sweet girl, please reach out today. Let’s find Stella the loving home she’s been waiting for! #AdoptStella #FosterMe #RescueDog #HopeForPaws

Story
Meet Nala! A smart and affectionate almost eight-year-old Labrador Retriever mix currently in Portland, OR, whose golden fawn coat is just as warm and comforting as her snuggles. Nala is a true heart dog, a deeply intuitive companion who mirrors your energy and mood. Up for a hike? She’s lacing up her metaphorical boots! Ready for a Netflix-and-snuggle night? She’s already curled up on the couch, ball by her side! At 65 pounds, this sturdy girl is a perfect blend of playfulness and soulful connection. Her favorite pastime? Chasing her beloved ball and settling in beside you when it’s time to relax. Bonus perk: Nala is an excellent road-trip companion! She rides beautifully in the car, doesn’t get motion sickness, and is happy as can be along for the adventure. Highly intelligent and eager to please, Nala knows a long list of commands and thrives on structure and routine. She's crate trained, has medium energy, and makes a fantastic shadow for someone who enjoys steady companionship. She experiences separation anxiety, but once she understands your rhythm and schedule, she settles beautifully, no destruction, just a little longing for your return. Nala is currently taking daily medication, not because of any general anxiety, but to help her cope with the stress of living in a multi-pet household. In quieter moments, she’s peaceful and sweet. But over time, tensions have built between her and the other resident dog, leading to escalating resource guarding and altercations. Though she’s not reactive on walks and has shared space and even food with a calm, elderly male dog, Nala has made it clear she needs to be the only pet in her home where she can truly relax and feel secure. She also takes Trazodone as needed for high-stress events, like fireworks. Nala is looking for a new loving home where she can be the center of attention. Your loyal shadow, hiking buddy, snuggle champion, and ball-chasing queen! A home with adults or older children would be the best fit, where her boundaries can be respected. If you’re someone who appreciates a dog with spirit, heart, and a whole lot of character, she might just be the girl for you! Could Nala be the joyful, steadfast companion you’ve been waiting for? Meet Loreto! Loreto is a four-year-old Labrador Retriever mix in Carlsbad, CA, with a handsome black-and-white coat and a loyal, affectionate nature. Weighing around 70 pounds, he’s a solid, loving companion who’s ready to settle into a home that values patience, structure, and connection. Originally from Mexico, Loreto has adjusted well to life in a home environment. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and sleeps comfortably through the night. Loreto knows “sit” and enjoys learning, especially when training is calm, positive, and consistent. He has also shown that he can be adaptable, recently doing well on a road trip and in public settings. Loreto is still developing confidence in dog social situations. He has done well with some dogs and can succeed with slow, thoughtful introductions, but he continues to work through fear-based reactivity. He may thrive with a confident canine companion after careful introductions and ongoing guidance. He would do best in a home without cats or small animals. Loreto is suitable for a household with mid to older children who can respect his boundaries and enjoy spending time with an active, engaged dog. His favorite activities include daily walks, playing ball, and relaxing close to his people. Companionship is what matters most to him! Loreto is looking for a calm, supportive home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. In return, he offers steady loyalty, affection, and a strong bond with his humans. If you’re searching for a devoted companion and are open to thoughtful introductions and continued support, Loreto could be a great fit!
