Story
Meet DiegoDiego is a 4‑month‑old Lab/Hound mix who made the long trip from Georgia in search of a brighter future. We don’t know how he ended up in the shelter, but we do know this: he’s packed with personality, spunk, and pure puppy joy.Diego is a zippy little comet in the yard — he loves to sprint full‑speed, veer around you at the last second, and then circle back with that “did you see me?” sparkle in his eyes. He’s playful, goofy, and always ready to turn any moment into a game. We’re not sure how big he’ll grow, but his heart is already huge. Diego has so much love to give, and he’s eager to find a family who will help him learn, grow, and enjoy all the adventures ahead. If you’re looking for a fun, spirited pup who will keep you laughing and fill your home with energy and affection, Diego might be your perfect match.Diego's adoption fee is $300, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Meet NicoNico is a 4‑month‑old Lab/Hound mix who traveled all the way from Georgia with his brother, Diego. While Diego is the zippy goofball, Nico is the snuggly heart‑melter of the duo — the one who leans in, melts into your lap, and decides you’re his whole world. He’s still very much a puppy, which means he’s full of energy, curiosity, and that wiggly, joyful enthusiasm that makes every day brighter. Nico loves being close to his people — under your feet, beside your legs, tucked against your hip — because in his mind, he’s still tiny enough to fit anywhere you are. We’re not sure how big he’ll grow, but we do know he’s overflowing with love and ready to share it with a family who wants a loyal, cuddly companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate pup who will follow you like a shadow and fill your home with warmth, Nico is ready to wiggle his way into your heart.Nico's adoption fee is $300, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Breed(s): Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Mix Age:  3 years Weight:  65 pounds Vetting Status:  Neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative & maintained on preventatives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking for a dog that is all about YOU? A best friend, a loyal companion? Trevor may just be your guy!   This handsome, eager to please fella was found as a stray, completely emaciated. He gained over 25 pounds and looks like a completely different dog!   Trevor is crate trained, but  much prefers having less restrictions and more freedom. His house manners have been stellar in his foster home -- no accidents or incidents. Trevor loves people, a love bug that wants to be the center of someone's world!   Hanging out and being in your presence & playing with his K-9 companions fulfills his days.  Stuffed Kongs are certainly on the favorites list too.   This sweet boy is a highly intelligent and rapidly picked up on learning an array of commands to include sit, lay, paw, kennel, down and no.   Trevor also enjoys going for a car ride & will gladly offer to ride shot gun on all your important trips...  petstore, mcd's, bank with a drive thru giving out cookies, etc. Trevor has been exposed to a vast array of other dogs, both big & small.  He would love to have K-9 companions,  but surely would not argue with being a SHD (single hound dog) & the center of attention.  Cats seem super fun to chase (eek!) and would NOT be recommended. If you think Trevor may be the pup for you, please visit the link below to fill out an application. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TREVOR  is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 9, 2026, 12:18 am

Story
We rescued Diana as a puppy 9 years ago. She’s a snuggle bug, missing a few teeth, and will have to have a few more pulled as she gets older. She became a cyborg with a metal bone in her left hind leg. Diana does not let that stop her from romping around in the snow or chewing every one of her toys into pieces. Of course, she loves those destroyed toys and picks her favorites out of the trash if anyone tries to throw them out. She is food motivated, especially peanut butter and any stray dropped food. Her training includes sit, down, place, den, leave-it, wait and her favorite “free” cue. Diana takes prescription medication mostly for separation anxiety. She attaches quickly to family and friends. She is territorial and anxious around new people and dogs, but falls wildly for anyone she is familiar with.

Story
Meet ZeusZeus is a 2‑year‑old Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix with a heart full of drive and a mouth full of tennis balls — seriously, this boy could play fetch for hours and still be ready for more. If you know Chessies, you know they’re smart, energetic, and deeply loyal, and Ricochet is no exception. He loves people, loves having a job, and loves being part of someone’s day.Shelter life has been stressful for him, and he’s doing everything he can to stay upbeat, but after 7 months with little to no interest, we honestly don’t understand why he’s still here. He’s handsome, fun, eager to please, and ready to give his whole heart to the right person.Zeus previously lived with another dog and has done well with dogs here.Zeus has been deemed Potentially Dangerous in Maryland due to repeated incidents of running loose, barking, and behaving aggressively toward other people and dogs. This is not the same as being deemed dangerous—it simply means he’ll need a responsible adopter committed to keeping him safely managed. For more details, our staff will be happy to explain what this means. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, tennis-ball-toting best friend who will fill your life (and your yard) with love and laughter, Zeus might just be your perfect match. 🎾🐾Zeus's adoption fee is $0, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet!
