Please contact Marilyn at 856-275-6905 for more information about this pet.  This dog is located in Newark, DE. Visit us on the web at https://fur-everpaws.com/fur-ever-paws-adoption-application/ to submit an application. Please contact the foster directly at 856-275-6905 (call or text) or via email at Fureverpawsdogrescue@gmail.com&#226&#128&#139 Fur Ever Paws Dog Rescue is a small no kill rescue operating in the Delaware/Maryland area. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and places homeless, neglected or abused dogs from high-kill shelters in the south into loving, responsible committed and permanent homes. We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you! Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here, you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Adoption fees vary based on breed. All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed). We provide a spay or neuter voucher to all of our adopters. &#226&#128&#139 December 21, 2025, 3:15 pm

Story
This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
We'll also keep you updated on Tommy's adoption status with email updates.

Story
ABOUT MINNIE Need a goofy companion? Meet the magnificent Minnie! She is a 3.5 year old shepherd/lab mix that loves to play. Minnie came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Louisiana when they no longer had space for her. During her first few days, she was her sweet, loving self but quickly became overwhelmed by the shelter environment, often pacing in her kennel. We reached out to our volunteers to see if someone would be willing to give her a break from shelter stress. Minnie has since been very active in our Doggy Day Out program, which gives her the opportunity to decompress and explore the world outside of the shelter. Minnie has even enjoyed a sleepover in an employee's home. Not only did she appear house-trained, with no accidents in the home, but also slept soundly in her crate overnight! She quickly showed off her goofy, playful side. Whether it's a game of tug with you or entertaining herself, she is always up for some fun! Minnie loves to chew on hard bones and rubber balls. She is a fast learner and knows basic commands. Since she is food and toy motivated, the possibilities are endless with her! Here's what a few of our Doggy Day Out volunteers had to say about her: "I had such a great day with Minnie! She’s such a happy, fun and intelligent dog! Minnie had so much fun walking around Rittenhouse Park with me and my mom. She really loves sniffing and exploring. Minnie walks great on the leash and is very smart. When I opened the front door of the car, she hopped in the front and got straight to the backseat, knowing where she’s supposed to sit. Minnie was very well behaved in the house. She sits and gives paw for treats, which she takes very gently. Minnie absolutely had a great time in the house. She played with sooo many toys, and enjoyed playing fetch. Though Minnie has a ton of energy, she also enjoys sitting for belly rubs and giving kisses. Minnie really is a special dog!" - Zoe "Took our girl Minnie out today and she was the ultimate cuddle buddy. We camped out under a tree, watched some senior softball, and I even got some work done. She was a total rockstar with all the people walking by. I love hanging with her." - Taylor *Minnie is seeking a home as your only pet! She can be selective with dogs and has made some doggy friends, but in a home environment, she would prefer to be your one and only! If you're interested in Minnie, you are welcome to submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is first-come, best-match basis. We are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in a specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children's and other dogs, must come for the meeting to ensure its a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fee's include the animals spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
I adopted Ru when he was 10 weeks old. He is now 7 years old. I was able to teach him a few tricks and house train him but he does have anxiety, which I believe can be fixed with further training, and lots of exersise. He's a great dog when he's relaxed and calm but his anxiety can be triggered pretty easily. I now have a wife and 2 kids, which he does great with. However his anxiety has become too much for us to handle and causes us alot of stress. With proper training and exersise I know he will be an amazing dog. He loves to snuggle and run. Ru needs someone who can give him lots of exersise and get him training and unfortunately we are unable to do so.
