Story
Hi, I’m Larry! Larry is a bonded pair with his brother, Moe.   Your future best friend with a legendary head tilt!   My brother Moe and I are the last two pups from my litter still searching for a forever home—no clue why, because I’m 100% certified good boy! At just over 1 year old, I’ve already mastered the art of loyalty, love, and making you smile.  I've been in rescue since I was born...but I have learned so many things. I can sit, walk really good on a leash, I do great in my crate at the adoption events, share food with my friends and love all of my dog brothers and sisters!   I’m eager to please, love my humans deeply, and when you talk to me… I give the cutest little head tilt that’ll melt your heart.   I may still be waiting, but I know the right family is out there. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, and loving pup to complete your crew—I’m your guy!   Come meet me… I’ve been waiting just for you.   ##2345330##

Story
Hey there, I’m Moe! Moe is a bonded pair with his brother, Larry   Still waiting… still wagging… still hoping for you!   I’m one of the last two pups from my litter—my brother Larry and I are the dynamic duo still looking for our forever homes! We look a lot alike, but you can spot me by my extra splash of white.   I've spent my entire life in rescue and I turned one at the beginning of the year. I’m a total lovebug who thrives on human attention. Belly rubs? Yes, please. Snuggles? Always. A best friend for life? That’s what I’m here for. I love to bring my toys, treats and even my bowls to you. I would love a family to be active and go on adventures on, even if those adventures are playing ball with my kids in the yard! I get along with other dogs, but I seem to prefer females (and my brother, of course). When we go for walks, I am a very good boy on my leash!  When we go to adoption events, I am so good in my crate!  I just like to take naps and get all the pets from new people, young and old.  Kids are my favorite! I don’t know why I’m still waiting, but I do know this: the family who picks me will be getting a heart full of love and a loyal companion for life.   Come meet me—you just might fall head over paws!   ##2345326##

Story
Introducing Madeline!! This gorgeous little gal was added to the euthanasia list at a local shelter after only 2 days because she was so scared she wouldn't walk on a leash. Thankfully a wonderful family stepped up to foster her, saving her life with only minutes to spare. Now in a home Maddie is thriving and loving every minute of it. Maddy is a good girl with the softest fur. She is doing great with potty and kennel training and loves attention. She walks well on leash and rides nicely in the car ready for your next adventure. She likes all dogs and cats she has met with proper introductions and would love a friendly fur sibling in her forever home. Although she’s blossoming in a home environment, it’s clear Maddy hasn’t had the easiest start in life. Sadly, stray dogs are sometimes treated very poorly, and we suspect she may have experienced that kind of cruelty before she was rescued. She warms up quickly to adults and older kids, but around smaller children she becomes very frightened and will retreat to a corner shaking. With patience, kindness, and positive experiences, we hope she can continue to build confidence, but she will need a family committed to helping her work through those fears. Madeline is estimated to be about 9 months old and currently weighs 40 lbs. We expect she’ll grow into the perfect medium-large sized companion. She has so much love to give, and we can’t wait to find her the forever home she deserves, one that will continue to socialize her, provide training and exercise, and help her grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. She may have had a difficult start, but Madeline’s future is bright. Maddie is being fostered in Houston Texas but is available for adoption many places around the country. Her adoption fee of $600 includes the cost of transport. If you think Madeline is your next best friend apply today: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog

Story
Meet Oliver or as we call him, Ollie! Ollie’s journey hasn’t been easy. When he was first rescued, he was nearly hairless and suffering from painful, mange ridden skin (see last photo). He had been on the euthanasia list at a municipal shelter. A volunteer and a foster fell in love with him, a rescue said yes, and hence started Ollie’s healing journey. Fast forward a few months, he is a handsome, happy, and full of life boy! Most of his fur has grown back beautifully, though he still has a bald patch around his neck and shoulders that may never fully regrow. But honestly, It just adds to his charm. His glow-up is truly something special. Ollie is one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. His fosters call him their “golden child” because he’s just about perfect. Ollie is fantastic with every person he meets, including kids, and he absolutely adores other dogs. Ollie is both potty trained and kennel trained. He loves playing with other dogs, chewing on toys, going on walks, car rides, and just chilling. His foster family absolutely adores him, and watching him blossom has been nothing short of heartwarming. Ollie does need weekly baths to keep his skin healthy but they are quick and easy, and he is very cooperative. He is estimated to be around 6-7 years old and weighs about 55 lbs. If you think Ollie is your next best friend apply today: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog Ollie is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas, but is available in many cities around the country. The adoption fee includes the cost of transport.

Story
Betsy is a FUN dog who loves to be with other dogs, maternal and bouncy. She is not aggressive or bossy but does have a bark and her terrier DNA comes out when meeting new smaller dogs. She has spent most of her time with bigger dogs and enjoys being the 'shortie' of the playgroup. She has been fostered with kids, other dogs and in a house/apartment. She is crate trained and loves routine - literally bounces up and down, runs outside then back into her crate to nap. Betsy is not food motivated, nibbles through the day, but has managed to become a bit fluffy. 50 lb dog now, she loves car rides, water! and sunbathing. She has participated in local rescue events, wiggling her whole body to meet new people and barking with excitement. Betsy is spayed, up to date on vaccines and very health - a bit fluffy as she has matured, now 5 years old. Her breed had been a guess until now! a donated DNA test revealed the classic Houston mutt mix of American Pit Bull Terrier, Lab, Boxer, German Shepherd, Shar Pei, Chow Chow. She is a short dog with medium double coat and a sharp mind. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee ($400.00) includes transport options to PNW (WA, UT, ID), Midwest (MN, WI, MI, OH, IL, IN) or select New England States (NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT) by pet transport partners. Story
Hi my name is Frankie, and I am looking for my forever family! I am a bit on the shyer side in really busy environments like the shelter. I was in a foster home for a couple weeks and worked with my foster family on crate training, potty training, and basic commands. I am also learning how to manage my puppy-like excitement. With my history of nervous behavior, I would do best in a home without children under 5. I have enjoyed playgroups with other dogs at the shelter, and an older sibling could help boost my confidence! I have a history of living with cats but may be too playful for some!Interested in getting to know me? Reach out to the HSHV adoptions team to start the process!
