Story
This is Teddy. He is a great dog, has a lot of energy and has not had the proper training to keep it in check. He jumps when people walk in the door, etc, but is never mean. He is 3 1/2 years old, neutered and potty trained. He's also up to date on shots and microchipped. He does go in a crate when we leave the house because if not he will tear things up or get into the trash if able. He currently lives with another dog and a cat. He does very well with both although my other dog gets annoyed that he wants to play so much and snaps sometimes. He likes to "pretend" chase the cat but has never hurt him or even tried to. He has gotten a couple squirrels. I got Teddy as a grief dog after my mom passed and didn't properly think it through. Unfortunately, he has been neglected and not been walked enough or had enough time spent with him to correct the minor behavior issues and I am too burnt out. He needs someone that will spend time with him and take care of him like he deserves.

Story
Charlie is a really good, chill boy that just doesn’t get along with another dog in our household. Charlie was born on March 20th of 2021 and came home with us in May. He is amazing with children and is extremely patient. He love snuggles! Was taught “soft” to softly take treats. Loves running around outside and greeting people. Has never really cared for dog toys. He does very well with verbal communication, no physical discipline.

Story
Millie is five years old. We have owned her since she was a puppy. Our reason for looking to re-home Millie is because she has become aggressive with our older male dog when food is present. We were taken totally off-guard by this because in every other way, Millie is the sweetest, most friendly dog. She loves and gives affection. She loves to play and is very intelligent. We have two cats and Millie never has issues with them. But after three incidents with our other dog, we have come to realize that she needs to be in a home as the only dog.

Story
Meet Bear – The Gentle Giant With a Heart of GoldAt 3 years old and 106 pounds of pure love, Bear is everything you’d hope for in a Labrador: affectionate, loyal, and endlessly kind. This big guy was found wandering with another one of our residents and has been melting hearts since the moment he arrived. Once his cone comes off, he can’t wait to reunite with his buddy for some well-deserved playtime!Bear may be new to the shelter, but he’s already made quite an impression. He adores people and will happily press himself against you just to soak up every bit of affection he can get. True to his “gentle giant” nickname, he’s calm, polite, and not a big jumper — he simply wants to be near someone who loves him back.Like any young Lab, Bear will continue to benefit from consistency and guidance, but his solid manners and easygoing nature make him an absolute joy to be around. Every day, he wins us over a little more, and we can’t help but think about how lucky his future family will be.If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who will greet you with soft eyes, a wagging tail, and endless devotion, Bear is ready to fill that role and your heart. If you would like to meet Bear, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea & tick prevention.Bear is currently heartworm positive, and will be starting treatment soon. FMAR covers the full cost of heartworm treatment and works with Home Care Veterinary Services for the treatment. You`re still encouraged to apply to adopt Bear! We`ll work closely with you to ensure his treatment continues smoothly and he gets everything he needs to thrive in his new home. His treatment after adoption would continue through HCVS until successfully completed. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received.**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your applic
