Story
Meet Olaf - the sweetest and most well behaved puppy. He is a 7-8 mon old, 48 lbs lab mix. He is so gentle, smart, and goofy. Labs will typically be 60 to 80 pounds fully grown. Olaf is great with other animals and kids! He loves toys!! Give him play time any day, followed by a multi hour nap. He has a great balance of play energy and relaxed downtime. He settles really well at night in his crate with little to no barking/whining. He Is a great eater and is very food motivated, which will be helpful for training! *special note: Olaf is a distemper survivor! Which simply means he has a twitch that is most prevalent on his right front leg. This twitch doesn’t have any affect on his daily life or when he sleeps. The twitch is almost completely unnoticeable while he’s playing or running about. Because of the twitch, he is a bit more cautious about his physical limitations and will sometimes need help getting into the car or onto high furniture. Olaf is working on leash training, and is good when he gets moving. However he is nervous about moving cars on the street, so sometimes he will just refuse to leave the front porch. He will require consistent and patient training to help develop his leash walking. He has some basic commands including “sit”, “come”. At bedtime you walk him to his crate and point; he goes straight in. Olaf is a distemper survivor, and as a result has a neurological twitch/tick. You really only notice it when he’s still, resting or falling asleep. It does not affect his general mobility, however it does sometimes make it hard to not slip around on smooth/slick surfaces. He would do best in a home without a lot of smooth wooden stairs. As long as there is texture, he should be fine. Sometimes he needs help getting into the car or higher furniture. Olaf will make the perfect addition to a warm & loving home. Fill out an app @ texaschihuahuarescue.org Pre approved applicants use the email you were given. Story
Currently in Texas. 5-8 month old female smaller lab mix. She is currently 13 pounds but still a little thin. She has a good appetite and is putting on weight quickly. Jane was found stranded and abandoned behind a garbage can. She was covered in fleas, and ticks and extremely malnourished. Jane is still a little shy but she is so sweet and adorable, submissive and kind with a heart of gold. Jane is going to be an amazing family dog. Great with all other animals and children. We are not exactly sure what breed of dog Jane is but we are assuming a lab mix of some sort however, I do think she will be more medium sized not too large. Maybe 40 ish pounds fully grown. Jane is just a doll, with some good luck and a guardian angel . She was such a sad mess, in the rain and mud , head hanging because she had no strength left to even raise her head or eat on her own. Within a few short weeks Jane had made a full recovery. With every passing day she becomes more confident. Jane is happy and playful and it is a joy to see her light shine through. It makes us sad to think of where she would have been if we did not find her. ❤️ Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Apply to adopt at Texaschihuahuarescue.org Coal (male) is a 6-8 month old labrador retriever (likely mixed). Weighing 40 pounds, with room to grow. Purebred labs will typically be 60 to 80 pounds when fully grown. Coal is a playful and sociable dog. He is eager to greet both people and dogs on walks, and loves engaging in play with his foster sister and other dogs. He is very smart and VERY food motivated - this makes him quick to learn. He consistently sits and comes when asked, but would benefit from on-going training on basic commands and obedience. Coal enjoys going on walks and visiting the dog park, and just generally being outside. He is high energy and will benefit from a home that is active and is able to exercise him 2-3 hours per day. Coal is quiet in his crate when left home alone, but is chatty when playing or out in the yard! Coal is currently being monitored for a very mild anemia (a condition in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells), but is otherwise a very happy and very healthy pup. Overall, Coal is a sweet boy and will thrive in a home that can provide him with ongoing structure and lots of love. He would make a great second dog, but is confident and would be fine on his own given that he has the opportunity to socialize with other dogs. M | 2Y | Labrador Mix | Neutered | UTD on shots | Dog Tested | No cats | Not kid tested | Housebroken | Working on crate training | Low energy | Loves to cuddle Search for perfect pupper ends here! Easy going, relaxed, chilled out, all these words can be used to describe our adorable Luciano. Calm and neutral, his laidback attitude makes him the perfect pet. He prefers to be in his own space, as long as hes around his humans who can cuddle him from time to time. Luciano is extremely expressive about his excitement and if given a chance would definitely chase a cat or rabbit (he’s getting trained to control this urge though). Lover of treats and sniffing games, we believe if given a chance Luciano would be a good hiker! Luciano is crate trained and easy to take on walks, good with training, he still gets a little nervous around sudden noises like traffic and fast cars, but it's nothing some patience and training cannot take care of. All Luciano needs to be happy is love and naps, so if you’re the family that can give him both, click the link below. Apply here: https://www.barkatthemoonrescue.ca/dog-adoption-application
