Male | 2Y | Mixed Breed | Neutered | UTD on shots | Dog neutral | No cats Not kid tested - likely fine with 12+ | Housebroken | Crate trained | Low energy | Obedience Trained | Takes daily glucosamine This young pup has an old soul! Luciano is a low energy boy who likes to keep to himself mostly. He is happiest in a low traffic home with humans who are happy to both share and give space. He takes a bit of time to warm up to new people - proper introductions and space have been super helpful for Luciano - as well as yummy treats! Once you're in his circle, he'll let you know that he wants pets and attention - otherwise he's happy just existing nearby with some space. Luciano has basic obedience down - and is super smart and food-motivated. He is also fully crate trained (despite not liking it much at the beginning) and his future home should continue using his crate so he always has a safe space when visitors come over and to prevent regressing with separation anxiety. This handsome man is currently living with 2 dogs and co-exists very well, however, cats and smaller pets are off-the-table as his prey drive is quite high. He's not one to play (with toys or his foster siblings), instead he prefers expending his energy by doing some training and going on walks. Speaking of which, this boy walks in a perfect heel! He's currently walking on a prong collar to help when he see pesky critters. Luciano has one back leg that is slightly longer than the other that he takes daily glucosamine for (in the form of treats). It doesn't seem to bother him on the day to day - he's quite happy taking short walks to keep from getting too stiff. Though he may take time to adjust in a new home with new people, Luciano will make an amazing addition to a low traffic home as long as he is provided with ongoing structure and routine, and lots of treats! If you're looking for a smart, loving, low energy pup to add to your family - apply to adopt Luciano today!

Story
Hammy / Male / 1.5 years old / 53 pounds / Lab Mix / Good with Dogs with Proper Introductions / Good with Cats / Good with Kids Aged 10+ / From Tennessee / Fostered in Toronto ** Follow Hammy’s adventures on Instagram: @twoqueersandafosterdog ** Meet Hammy! Poor Hammy was surrendered to the pound in Tennessee when his owner could no longer care for him. He has since made the journey to Toronto to find his forever home. Hammy is described by his fosters as sweet, gentle, goofy, and silly. He loves going for walks, sniffing, playing with his stuffies, shredding paper (and toys!), playing fetch, chewing bully sticks, snuggling, and napping. There is not much this happy-go-lucky guy does not like! He currently lives with two cats and enjoys trying to get them to play with him. After all this, he likes to sprawl out in bed with his fosters and sleep quietly through the night. Hammy is very sweet and affectionate with the people he knows. He loves to brush up on you for pets and will follow you around waiting for your attention. He is generally very curious about new people and eager to please them. He appreciates a slow approach and does not like when anyone reaches over his head for pets so it is important to advocate for him and protect his space. Hammy has met kids over 10 years old and done well with them. He would do well with older, respectful, dog-savvy children who can respect his boundaries. He can get overstimulated and may jump up. He seems interested in kids when out on walks and would likely be gentle and kind to children. Hammy gets three 30-minute walks a day, plus some pee breaks. He also gets indoor enrichment like puzzle toys and bully sticks. Hammy can pull on leash when he gets excited but is working with his foster on loose leash walking. He seems comfortable outside and doesn’t react too much to anything he comes across (except the odd very loud noise). He can sometimes be overeager to meet new people or dogs but his fosters are working on this and practicing “engage/disengage”. Hammy is very good in the house. He is not crated and has been left for up to 2 hours on his own and is slowly increasing that time. He can take a bit to settle but will eventually lie down and rest while his fosters are out. He has tried to chew things he shouldn’t when he is in a playful mood but is easily redirected. He likes to nap during the day and sleeps through the night in bed with his fosters. Hammy is very dog-social and loves playing with other dogs on the farm in Tennessee. Since coming into foster care he has not interacted with any dogs yet. When he sees other dogs on leash he tends to jump up and pull towards them. He wants to engage but needs to learn proper manners and a calmer approach. He would do great in a home with other dogs who are respectful of his boundaries. He would require proper introductions before meeting any new dogs. He currently lives with two cats and is curious and playful with them but mostly leaves them alone. Hammy is working on basic obedience but his current training mostly focuses on loose leash walking and getting his attention while out on walks. He is working on polite greetings and leash walking. Hammy is potty trained. Hammy’s perfect forever family would be patient and have time to focus on his training. He needs a family that can provide lots of walks, adventures, and hikes, as well as enrichment. He would do best in a family that is knowledgeable about canine body language. He would do best in a home with a yard where he can get some zoomies out and would prefer to be in a quieter area rather than right downtown. Hammy is a total sweetie and a joy to be around. He is silly and goofy and has a heart of gold. He is eager to please and just wants love. His future family will be very lucky to get him. Hammy has undergone treatment for heartworm. He does not require much in the way of special care but he will need to stay on a heartworm prevention until he has had two negative heartworm tests at least six months apart. Fetch + Releash will cover the cost of the heartworm prevention for the first six months as well as the follow-up heartworm test(s), provided they are done at our partner vet clinic. The adoptive family will then be responsible for covering the cost of the next six months of the heartworm prevention medicine. If you’re interested in adopting Hammy, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Hammy’s adoption fee is $850. Story
Hello! My name is Snickerdoodle!I am a sweet little puppy with lots of energy to spare! My GHS friends are not sure of my mix but think it is boxer/bulldog. I am very excited to move into my new home and get the ball rolling with my socialization. It is very important that I join a family that has the time and patience to dedicate to my socialization and training, and who can handle my excitement. To become a well-rounded, socialized adult, it's important I have frequent and positive interactions with new people, children, other dogs, visits to the vet clinic and other unfamiliar environments (like friends' homes and pet stores). It's also important I continue to get practice with handling and grooming so I continue to be comfortable when I am older and go for vet visits, get nail trims and receive brushing and grooming. *If you apply to adopt me, please have a certified positive-reinforcement trainer in mind to sign up for puppy socialization classes, as this will be required prior to adoption. **IF THIS LISTING IS STILL POSTED THIS DOG IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. NO NEED TO EMAIL ASKING IF THE DOG IS AVAILABLE. PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS BIO THOROUGHLY AS INFORMATION ON HOW TO APPLY IS CONTAINED IN THIS LISTING** For Adoption: Cinnamon! Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process. To apply for adoption and for more information on our process and requirements, visit our website at https://pounddog.ca/adoption-info/. Let us introduce you to Cinnamon! She is a very good looking three year old Lab/Pointer cross, and she is the happiest, most affectionate dog you will meet! She is large sized, about 50 lbs and 26 inches tall (at the shoulder). Cinnamon has shades of chocolate, with a swirl of white fur on her chest and a couple white spots on her toe. Her eyes are honey colored and it is easy to get lost staring into them as she happily pants, smiling at you. Cinnamon is not only good looking on the outside, but is a total sweetheart on the inside. She loves to do the “spin and plop”, cuddle, and fall asleep next to you. She has such a happy and goofy personality that will make you cherish her as part of your family. She is perfectly house trained and crate trained. She has no crate anxiety and will happily hop into the crate on command for breakfast, dinner, or even a treat. She can happily stay in a crate for up to 9 hours if needed and calmly naps during that time. She also sleeps in her crate at night just fine and enjoys a good bedtime snack when she goes in for the night. She is also very comfortable eating her meals in the crate. She is well-behaved indoors. She loves chewing on bones and will entertain herself with them for hours. Cinnamon loves to play tug and play fetch in the yard. She has such a happy playful personality. Cinnamon gets very, very excited about other dogs. She sometimes still barks at a dog while out on a walk. She gets reactive when she sees another dog so we have been working on this with her. She has been improving day by day. It will be necessary for her future owners to continue this training. Her owners will need to be experienced with leash excitability in a dog as well so she is not a suitable dog for a first time dog owner. If you have rules about walking and adhere to them, her walks are very enjoyable. Make sure to keep a positive rapport with her on walks, but also be strict about her walking behaviour. Higher-levels of obedience training will highly benefit Cinnamon as she is very smart & eager to please her owners. The challenge and mental stimulation provided by higher levels of obedience training will allow this sweet dog to work on some of her finer points and keep her brilliant dog brain occupied. Attending dog school is a mandatory requirement to make sure Cinnamon can reach her full potential. Cinnamon is already attending dog classes in foster care and loves the learning and interactions she gets there. Cinnamon is a very healthy, athletic, active dog and her forever home must be up to the task of keeping her exercised. Successful owners will ideally enjoy playing retrieve with Cinnamon, go for fast paced, long walks/runs and take her to obedience training. Cinnamon is not a suitable dog for someone who just wants to take their dog for a walk once a day and not much else. Cinnamon can play too rough for many dogs liking so a home as the only dog would be a best fit for her. Cinnamon is such a people pleaser that doing things with people makes her very happy. She loves to go for car rides and travels very well in the car. She is quiet and relaxing in the vehicle even for long car rides. Cinnamon loves people very much but because of her enthusiasm we would recommend a family with older kids. With her high energy and stimulation levels, she needs to be in a home with no other animals. She loves having a fenced yard so she can run around and play. She is such a fun dog to have around. She is always happy, very affectionate, loyal and loving. We want to make sure that this big sweetheart makes her way to a great adoptive family that will take care of her for the rest of her life.
