Story
Meet Ava Ava is a beautiful soul who’s been through more than any dog should. Life on the streets left her scared and unsure, and now she’s slowly learning that the world can be kind and people can be trusted. She’s sweet and sensitive — a gentle girl who just wants to feel safe and loved. Ava has some fear-based reactivity to other dogs, likely a result of having to fend for herself in tough conditions. But with patience, love, and continued support, she’s making progress every day. Ava is heartworm positive, but she’s receiving treatment and has a whole team rooting for her recovery. All she really wants is someone to give her the chance she’s never had — someone who will see past her fear and into her heart. Is that someone you?

Story
Sofia was hit by a car. Her pelvis was broken in two places. Her femur was broken. She was in so much pain that she tried to bite our vet twice. We barely knew her then. With the severity of her injuries and the long, hard rehab ahead, our vet was honest about the road she was facing and urged us to consider euthanasia. We were torn and overwhelmed. In a moment that felt impossible, we said we’d wait on her heartworm test to help guide the decision. She was heartworm negative — so she got the surgery. After 10 days in the hospital, something incredible happened. Sofia did a complete 180. The scared, hurting dog turned into a tail-wagging sweetheart and quickly became a staff favorite thanks to her gentle nature and loving spirit. During rehab, Sofia gave us 100%. She met every day with kisses, determination, and a joyful willingness to do the work. Her spirit is unreal and she's ready to share it with a new forever family. She fought for this life — and she’s absolutely worth it. If you’re ready for a meet and greet, kick off the process with an application at www.flyingbrescue.org/adopt. Our application is thorough but there are no right or wrong answers - we just want to make sure you and the pet are the perfect match. Once we receive your application, we will schedule a phone interview. Our adoptions include a 2-week trial period with fully refundable adoption fees during that period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer transportation services and have happy families as references. We value transparency, so don’t be afraid to ask us anything.

Story
When we say "active lifestyle dog", we are thinking of Kodi. Kodi is sthe life of the party—and somehow also a total lapdog wannabe. He’s a happy, social guy who plays hard, naps harder, and loves nothing more than hanging out with his dog friends (especially the ones who don’t mind a little rough-and-tumble play). While he’s not much of a swimmer, Kodi does love to lounge in the pool and cool off after a good romp—it’s his version of a spa day. Kodi’s fun-loving personality and sweet nature make him a joy to have around. He’s growing into a well-rounded young dog who’s ready for a family that can match his playful energy and return all the love he has to give. Play hard, love harder—that’s Kodi’s motto.

Story
Maya, a.k.a. Mama Maya, has been with us since May 2016. She is very loving and a great protector when it comes to our little ones. Playing soccer, frisbee, and basketball are a few of her favorite activities. In her spare time she does enjoy relaxing by a window to neighborhood watch. Maya also appreciates being taken for a 15-20 minute walk.

Story
This is Gracie, a golden lab retriever8 years oldFemaleSpayedSweet and playful personality, enjoys attention, but also enjoys resting very much. She's an inside dog, but enjoys time outside in the grass and sunshine resting and playing. She's crate trained, potty trained. She needs to be rehomed because we are a large family with lots of children and she has developed anxiety around babies and toddlers, especially when they cry. She is fine with the older children (4 & 6), but does not like to be around babies. We adopted her before we had kids so she has always been around them, but I guess as she's gotten older she has changed. It's hard, but she needs some peace and calm in her life.Thank you

Story
Hi! This is BC. We took him in from a rescue last Summer. He adores my special needs children, but longs for kids to play with him in a yard or home, which is something my kids struggle to do. He is so kind to them, other dogs, and our cat, he just craves more attention than our family can give. He is crate and potty trained, does not prefer rawhide dog bones but loves the silicone chews with flavoring. The only thing that scares him are the "wee-woos" as my kids say (sirens) so he will need gentle reassurance if a fire truck is going by. He would make a wonderful addition to an active family or individual.
