Nemo is a member of our Platinum Paws Program. His adoption fee was sponsored through generous donations received during the Bettye White Challenge. Learn more at ohar.org/platinumpawsNemo's tinder profile reads: Handsome dude seeks human companion. For life. I'm the real deal and I'm looking for a commitment. I've been married before and was left high and dry so if you're just here to play around keep swiping. I like to take things slow. I'm a foodie. I like dogs and won't judge their size. Cats... haven't tried those yet. Kids. Bleh. They can stress me out so they need to be on the chill side. Just being honest. Did I mention how honest I am? Well, I am. I'm also a catch. Come catch me! Love, NemoAdoption Process: After your application is approved, a home visit is schedule. We will bring the pet to you and help with introductions to your current pet(s). Are you a homebody that was social distancing before 2020? Then I'm the dog for you!I'm a self-proclaimed wallflower, who isn't into big parties or big crowds. I like my personal space when meeting new people and prefer to go at my own pace. But don't let my shyness fool you. Once I know you're cootie free all bets are off and I turn into a total mush bucket.I love playing in the yard with other dogs, especially the lovely ladies. I am also an enthusiastic learner and enjoy learning new things with the help of my trusted people.I listen well and have been told that I'm the perfect gentleman. My ideal family would be someone who continues to give me praise and has another dog that I can be best friends with. Are you that person? If so, connect with OHAR to learn more about me!Adoption Process: After your application is approved, a home visit is schedule. Story
Say hello to Marley!Marley loves people and other dogs! Marley can play all day with his canine companions and will look up at you with a Cheshire cat grin when you show him affection. Marley is an intelligent doggo who can be a bit of a stinker. He knows what he can and can't get away with and will sometimes test boundaries to see how far he can go. This usually entails his demands for a pet and a "good boy" before he goes into his kennel. It's hard not to chuckle at his devious little ways.Marley is obsessed with toys and food. And when we say obsessed, we mean obsessed! To the point that he hoards them all to himself and doesn't want to share. That means if his new family has another dog, they will need to keep toys out of reach when unsupervised and feed separately. But that's not a big deal when you have Marley's adorable face looking up at you in admiration.Learn more about Marley by contacting OHAR today!

Story
Knut came to us at 3 weeks during a winter storm old and was one of the biggest babies we had seen. That is why we named him after a famous polar bear cub. We are unsure of his breed, and as he gets bigger our guesses keep changing. We do think he has some hound in him due to his elongated snout. He is now 9 months old and weighs 60 lbs. He is neutered, microchiped, and has had 3 rounds of vaccines. We expect him to be quite a large dog fully grown, possibly over 80lbs. However, Knut is a gentle giant. He is very sweet and passive and loves to play with the other dogs. But his favorite thing to do is eat. He is a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. He is ready for his forever home and a family that wants a big dog with a big heart.

Story
Grizzly came to us with 3 of her siblings when they were only a couple of weeks old. We do know that their mom was some kind of Labrador mix, but due to the fact that the puppies have dewclaws and their size we assume they are a Great Pyrenees mix. Grizzly is the largest of her siblings. She is a big happy girl that loves to play. She is brave and smart and the first to try new things. She love the outdoors and is very affectionate.

Polar Bear came to us at only a few weeks old with his 3 siblings. We know that mom is a Labrador mix. Due to the fact that the puppies have dewclaws and their size we assume they are also Pyrenees mixes. He is the smallest of his siblings and the most shy. He is cautious to try new things and will stand back and watch. He can be a bit fearful at first, but once he figures it out he is happy and playful. He loves playing wirh his siblings, but is just as happy laying on the couch. He is very sweet and loving.

Story
Meet Morris, a mixed breed boy picked up along with his sister Missy by one of our officers and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 9/22/2023. He is currently about 1 1/2 years old, weighs 54 pounds and is neutered. He has been at the shelter over 5 months and is hoping any day soon that someone will see what a terrific boy he is, and that he will be able to leave the shelter soon and that his time at the shelter will be a thing of the past. The most important thing to know about Morris is that he is a big love bug! He is affectionate, a lapdog wannabe, gives kisses and snuggles and is crazy about belly rubs. He loves walks and exploring the outside world, and though he does walk on a leash and is making progress, he needs additional leash training. He will sit for treats and does take them politely. He has a high energy level and will need a home in which he will be given daily playtime, exercise, and enrichment in order to fit in well with his new people. He is even open to learning new commands. Morris absolutely positively wants to live inside with his people so that he can be a cherished part of the family. A shelter volunteer who has spent time with Morris and sings his praises, has sponsored his adoption. Will you consider whether you can take this youngster into your heart and home and offer him the kind of life he deserves?

Story
Bella is a 6 year old pure breed, golden retriever, she is the sweetest dog in the world a little bit shy but amazing, she’s good with kids with other dogs and really really an amazing best friend, she is lazy sometimes but sadly that is because she has a thyroid problem which the vet told us is not serious but she has to be taking medication every day, she loves to cuddle and gives the best hugs in the world, it’s really hard for us to do this, but our situation has change and Bella and my two other dogs deserve better that what we can give them right now, they don’t need to be together, they just need someone willing to be there for them and give them all the attention they deserve.
