Knut came to us at 3 weeks during a winter storm old and was one of the biggest babies we had seen. That is why we named him after a famous polar bear cub. We are unsure of his breed, and as he gets bigger our guesses keep changing. We do think he has some hound in him due to his elongated snout. He is now 9 months old and weighs 60 lbs. He is neutered, microchiped, and has had 3 rounds of vaccines. We expect him to be quite a large dog fully grown, possibly over 80lbs. However, Knut is a gentle giant. He is very sweet and passive and loves to play with the other dogs. But his favorite thing to do is eat. He is a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. He is ready for his forever home and a family that wants a big dog with a big heart.

This cutesy girl is Louise. She arrived as a stray on 10/2 at the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Louise is a mixed breed that weighs 35 lbs and is about 1 year old. She has the most pleasant and charming personality. Louise is amiable and sweet natured and was more than happy to let me pet her and give her plenty of loving. She walks beautifully on a leash. She did her business in the shelter yard. Louise looks like she is smiling in her pictures. She likes treats! She appears to have been well cared for and has a soft silky coat. However, sadly her people have not come looking for her so she’s in need of a rescue or adopter and hopes that her stay at the shelter will be a brief one.

Meet Hercules! He is a 1 1/2 yr old male Lab Retriever mix that weighs 69lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/8 as a stray. It`s easy to see with a name like that, how handsome and incredibly charming he is. We feel he did have a family as he appears to have been well cared for and is really smart. He knows the sit, back, and leave it commands. He walks great on a leash and takes treats gently. He is an affectionate guy that will come up to you, put his head or even his paws in your lap just to be close. Then he will flash you a big smile! Hercules love to chase balls. He will bring them back, drop it at your feet and wait for you to throw it again to him. Walking past other dogs barking at him, he doesn`t pay any attention. We do always ask if there will be another dog in the home, please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. He has very quickly become a Staff and Volunteer Favorite. He deserves to find a loving family of his own that can provide him a secured yard to play in and definitely live indoors where he can be close and loving to his human companions.
