MEET APOLLO…..a stunning, 7 yr old (DOB October, 2018), 15 lb, tan, Lhasa Apso X, who was given up by his family and brought to the South Central Shelter because they lost their government housing and were evicted! They provided a great deal of information about him, and it’s clear they loved him dearly. However, the first thing they wrote was that he was purchased at a pet store as a “mini Shih Tzu.” WRONG!!! This boy may not be 100% Lhasa (we never promote as purebred unless we are 100% sure), but he looks more like a Lhasa than a Shih Tzu and he isn’t a “mini” — he’s just the right size.
Apollo is still a little shut down trying to understand where his people have gone. He came to us from the shelter with a double eye infection and does not enjoy having drops put in his eyes! We think they sting, but they are helping him and he’s getting better. Apollo will pull his head away and growl when you try to put the drops in…then kiss you abundantly to tell you he loves and forgives you. He can be snappy but not to hurt, just to warn. He is not aggressive, just a little frightened of the unknown. If you put him in your arms and love him….he’s all yours. But, for this reason we think he would be better off without children in the house. We believe a family who understands the Lhasa personality will adore Apollo, who is a lover, not a fighter! He is starting to warm up but it takes him a bit of time.
Apollo is a good eater when eating something he likes! He will let you know if he feels like being picky, which isn’t often….but there is no guessing with him! He loves to be loved and really needs extra TLC right now, which he is getting. Seems to be potty trained, but we never guarantee. Will you let Apollo light up your heart and life…and will you light up his?
