Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an application. * This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 27th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $750 Twinkie is living proof that the snack aisle got it right: tiny, sweet, slightly dramatic, and impossible to resist. At just 10 pounds, this adorable 5 year old little Morkie has somehow mastered the art of being both a dainty princess and the self-appointed ruler of every bed, chair, and cozy blanket in the house. Bonus: she's low-shedding, so the furniture she steals will stay (mostly) fur-free. Rescued from a shelter and now thriving in foster care, Twinkie is ready to find a forever family who appreciates a dog with personality, opinions, and elite snuggling skills.   Morning Routine: Powered by Snuggles and School Drop-Offs   Twinkie starts her day around 6:30am with a quick potty trip outside before immediately returning to what she considers her true profession: professional cuddler. She loves curling up in one of the family’s beds or beside her people on the couch for an early morning nap session.   One of the highlights of her day is helping with school drop-offs. She gets very excited for the car ride and takes her role as emotional support passenger seriously. Saying goodbye, however, is not her favorite activity. On the drive home, she may offer a few tiny cries to express her disappointment that her favorite humans did not, in fact, come back immediately.   Around 10am, it’s time for one of her beloved walks. Twinkie absolutely lights up when the leash comes out, complete with tiny excited yelps that sound suspiciously like a squeaky toy discovering espresso. After her walk, she’ll nibble at breakfast, lounge dramatically, and recharge for the important business of greeting the girls after school later in the afternoon.   Once everyone is home again, Twinkie settles into pure contentment. Evening walks, dinner, couch lounging, and bedtime complete her daily schedule. She sleeps beautifully through the night and would love to sleep in bed with her humans, though she’ll also happily settle into a comfy dog bed nearby if it meets her very high Goldilocks-approved standards.   Personality: Equal Parts Sugar, Sass, and Sentimentality   When Twinkie first arrived in foster care, she was shy and quiet. That phase lasted approximately five minutes.   As she became comfortable, her wonderfully expressive personality began to shine. Twinkie is incredibly communicative and seems convinced that humans should absolutely understand every one of her tiny emotional updates. She has different whines for different family members, soft little noises when she wants belly rubs, excited squeaks for walks, and dramatic commentary whenever she feels ignored for more than seven seconds.   She is affectionate without being overwhelming and loves simply being near her people. She’ll cuddle beside you on the couch, curl up in bed with you, or quietly follow you from room to room like a tiny fuzzy assistant manager. She was initially very velcro with her foster mom and still supervises bathroom trips from outside the door because privacy is apparently unnecessary now.   Twinkie is also hilariously expressive with her body language. When she wants you to follow her, she stares directly into your soul, wags her tail furiously, spins in excited little circles, and waits for you to understand the assignment.   And yes, she is a bit of a drama queen. But in the most lovable way possible.   Queen of the Household Furniture   One thing to know about Twinkie: if you stand up, you lose your seat.   This tiny dog has somehow perfected the art of instantly stealing every warm chair, couch cushion, and bed in the house. Her foster family describes her as “Goldilocks” because she carefully samples everyone’s sleeping spots before deciding which one feels just right for the evening. One minute your chair is empty. The next minute Twinkie is sprawled across it like she pays the mortgage.   She also loves squeaky toys and becomes deeply invested in figuring out where sounds come from. If she hears noises from a laptop, she will walk behind it to investigate the mysterious tiny people living inside.   Social Life and Adventures   Twinkie has been friendly and curious around other dogs. She does not bark at dogs on walks, even if they bark at her, though she may pick up her pace a little to get a closer look. She seems interested in making friends and enjoys observing the world around her.   Cats, however, are another story. The neighborhood feral cat has officially become her greatest nemesis. Twinkie transforms from sweet pastry to tiny security alarm the moment she spots one in the yard. Because of this, she may do best in a cat-free home, though a calm and confident cat could potentially help her learn better manners over time.   She has done well with teenagers and enjoys being around kids who understand how to give her space while she warms up. If she feels unsure, she’ll simply move away or give a brief bark to communicate her boundaries.   Walks, Training, and Home Manners   Twinkie is fully housetrained and has not had a single accident in foster care. She sleeps through the night beautifully and settles well into household routines.   She walks nicely on leash overall, though she can pull a little when excited. She enjoys exploring and observing everything around her but does not react badly to other dogs while out and about.   She is not destructive, does not chew or dig, and generally prefers lounging near her humans over causing chaos. The biggest thing to know is that she truly does not enjoy being left home alone for long periods. She bonds deeply with her people and would love a home where someone is around often to keep her company.   The Home Twinkie Dreams About   Twinkie would thrive in a loving home filled with affection, cozy blankets, and humans who appreciate a dog with a big personality packed into a tiny body. She would especially love a family with kids or multiple people around because being included in daily life is basically her favorite hobby.   She wants to be part of the action, part of the cuddle pile, and preferably part of whatever snack you’re eating too.   Most of all, Twinkie is looking for people who will adore her sweet, expressive nature and laugh at her constant commentary, dramatic chair stealing, and heartfelt reunion serenades.   Because just like the dessert she’s named after, Twinkie is impossibly sweet, a little ridiculous, and guaranteed to make your day better. June 25, 2026, 3:22 pm

When DPS volunteers first met her at the shelter, she barely looked like a dog. Hidden beneath layers of severe matting, dreadlocks, and neglect was a tiny 12-pound Morkie who had clearly been through a lot. Once she was finally shaved down, groomers discovered painful wounds hidden underneath her coat, including a significant sore on her front leg that has taken time to heal.   Despite everything she's endured, Cupcake's personality shines through every day.   At 7 years old, Cupcake is equal parts playful, snuggly, bossy, funny, and determined. She absolutely loves playing fetch with her stuffed toys and is always ready for a spirited game of tug-of-war. She enjoys curling up next to her people, sleeping in bed (where she takes her role as a bed hog very seriously), and soaking up attention whenever it's available. Her adorable baby Yoda ears are impossible to resist, and she especially loves having them scratched. She's a great cuddler and always brings a smile to her foster's face.   Most of the time, Cupcake is a happy little dog who enjoys being part of the action. She has done well meeting visitors and gets along wonderfully with the three resident dogs in her foster home. She's perfectly content staying home alone and doesn't spend her time looking for trouble. She saves her barking mostly for important announcements, like reminding you dinner is late, requesting a spot on the couch, or letting you know that your food should probably be shared with her.   Cupcake does come with some important considerations.   Because of her painful wound and likely difficult past experiences, she can be defensive when she feels uncomfortable or vulnerable. While much of this behavior appears related to pain and wound guarding, Cupcake has also shown that she isn't afraid to express her opinions when things don't go her way. She is not a dog who will tolerate being pushed, restrained, or handled without respect for her boundaries.   For that reason, Cupcake needs an experienced adult-only home with people who understand dog body language and are comfortable working with a dog who has some emotional baggage.   The right adopter for Cupcake will see beyond her rough edges and recognize the resilient little dog underneath. She has likely spent years learning that the world wasn't always kind to her. Now she needs someone willing to show her that life can be different.   Cupcake isn't a perfect dog. She's a real dog— with quirks, opinions, scars, and a whole lot of personality. For the right person, that combination may make her all the more special. June 25, 2026, 3:22 pm

After spending time in two different foster homes, Monkey has proven herself to be remarkably adaptable, friendly, and easygoing. Whether she's lounging on the couch, playing with canine friends, or joining you on a neighborhood stroll, Monkey is simply happy to be part of the family.   The Definition of Easy   Monkey starts her day around 8 a.m. with a trip outside, followed by breakfast and a morning walk. During the day, you'll usually find her curled up near her people, supervising household activities from a comfy couch cushion, or quietly following her favorite humans from room to room.   She's affectionate without being demanding and loves being close to her people. In one foster home, she quickly became a little shadow who wanted to know where her humans were at all times. In another, she happily shared cuddle duty with the resident dog and was perfectly content relaxing independently when the mood struck. Her ability to adapt to different environments is one of her most endearing qualities.   Whether she's stretched out across your lap, curled up beside you during movie night, or snoozing nearby while you work, Monkey brings a calm, comforting presence wherever she goes.   Sweet, Playful, and Full of Charm   Monkey has a wonderful balance of playfulness and relaxation. She enjoys toys, games of fetch, and the occasional burst of zoomies, but she's equally happy settling in for a long afternoon nap.   One of the cutest things about Monkey is that she learned how to be a dog from the resident dogs in her foster homes. When she first arrived, toys and treats were unfamiliar to her. With a little encouragement, she discovered the joys of stuffed toys, chew toys, dog treats, fruits, vegetables, and playtime. Now she'll happily join in the fun and has even started learning fetch—although she still thinks collecting the toys is more fun than bringing them back.   A Social Butterfly   Monkey gets along beautifully with other dogs. While she initially needed a little time to figure out how to play, she quickly became an enthusiastic participant in games of chase, zoomies, and playful boxing matches with her canine friends.   She's comfortably lived with dogs ranging from 14 to 25 pounds and particularly enjoyed romping around with a resident Bichon. She has also met a cat and showed polite curiosity without chasing or bothering it.   One thing that consistently stands out is Monkey's confidence and resilience. Nothing seems to faze her. Even when faced with larger or nervous dogs, she simply takes it in stride and calmly moves on with her day.   Walking Companion   Monkey enjoys her daily walks and generally walks nicely on leash. She doesn't pull much, doesn't chase squirrels, birds, or cats, and is content exploring the world at a relaxed pace. She initially needed some help learning how to walk confidently on leash by herself, but once she understood the routine, she did great and could easily keep up with dogs much larger than herself.   Home Manners   Monkey is crate trained, sleeps quietly through the night, and is essentially housetrained. Aside from one accident when she first arrived in foster care, she's been very reliable about doing her business outside.   She's also a wonderfully low-maintenance houseguest. She isn't destructive, doesn't dig, and is generally very quiet. While one foster observed a few alert barks at unfamiliar people outside the house, the other rarely heard a peep from her. Most of the time, Monkey simply goes with the flow.   Her Perfect Home   The truth is, Monkey could probably thrive almost anywhere.   She would love a family who wants an affectionate companion to cuddle with. She'd enjoy having another friendly dog to play with, but she'd also be perfectly happy as the center of attention. Whether your home is bustling with activity or peaceful and quiet, Monkey has shown that she can adapt beautifully.   Most of all, she's looking for people who will love her as much as she'll love them.   Why You'll Love Monkey   She has an incredibly sweet nature, a gentle spirit, and a remarkable ability to fit into whatever life throws her way.   Her foster families all agreed on one thing: everyone who meets Monkey falls in love with her.   If you're searching for a friendly, affectionate, non-shedding companion who can be playful one moment and curled up beside you the next, Monkey may be the perfect addition to your family. June 25, 2026, 3:22 pm

These adorable 10-12 week old pups may be brothers, but each has his own unique charm—and both are guaranteed to bring joy wherever they go.   Puppy Life is the Best Life   Like any growing puppies, Gosling and Reynolds spend their days mastering the fine art of play, nap, eat, repeat. Their mornings begin around 8:00 a.m., followed by breakfast, wrestling matches, toy adventures, and plenty of puppy shenanigans before settling down for well-earned naps. Throughout the day they alternate between energetic play sessions and snooze breaks, finally calling it a night around 11:00 p.m.   Both puppies are currently using potty pads consistently and are off to a great start with their puppy manners. They're smart little guys who are already showing how quickly they learn.   Gosling: The Bouncy Charmer   Gosling is a happy-go-lucky puppy whose favorite hobbies include wrestling, playing with toys, and making every day feel like a party. He approaches life with enthusiasm and confidence, and he was comfortable in his foster home almost immediately.   While playtime is definitely his first love, Gosling has a sweet side too. Every now and then he'll wander over for a head scratch or ear rub before bouncing back off to whatever fun activity is happening nearby. When he runs, he practically springs through the air like he's on a tiny trampoline, making him endlessly entertaining to watch.   Gosling's adorable tuxedo markings, white socks, and super-soft non-shedding coat make him as handsome as he is lovable. His coat will likely require regular grooming as he grows, but it's well worth the effort for such a cuddly companion.   One of his foster family's favorite things? Watching him sleep flat on his back with all four paws sticking straight up in the air.   Reynolds: The Curious Explorer   Reynolds brings all the puppy energy of his brother, but with an extra dose of curiosity and brains. He's the observer of the duo—the puppy who pauses during playtime to carefully inspect his surroundings and figure out how everything works.   He's incredibly clever and learns quickly. In fact, both boys learned 'sit' after only a handful of repetitions, but Reynolds tends to be a little more consistent about showing off his new skills. He's also impressively athletic and agile. His foster family quickly learned that standard puppy pens were merely suggestions to Reynolds, who successfully climbed his way out more than once.   Despite his adventurous nature, Reynolds also enjoys checking in with his people. He likes knowing where his humans are and will happily hop into a lap for pets before heading back to his next adventure.   Social Butterflies   Both puppies are friendly, playful, and eager to engage with the world around them. They currently live with a small resident dog and would love a canine playmate of their own, though they don't require one. They have met a teenager and have shown typical puppy behavior, including playful nipping and lots of excitement.   Because they're still young puppies, they are teething and enjoy chewing on toys (and occasionally things that aren't toys if left unattended). As with any puppy, they'll thrive with positive training, structure, and plenty of appropriate outlets for their energy.   Looking for Their Forever Families   These boys are incredibly smart, affectionate, and full of personality. They are at the perfect age to continue learning and growing with their future families. Whether you're looking for a playful hiking buddy, a loyal companion, or simply a daily source of laughter, either Gosling or Reynolds could be the perfect fit.   While they've loved having each other as playmates, they are being adopted separately and are ready to form special bonds with families of their very own.   If you're ready to add a little extra fun, laughter, and puppy love to your life, come meet Gosling or Reynolds—you may just find your new best friend.   June 25, 2026, 3:22 pm
