Story

Little Cocoa Puff is full grown at about 6 pounds. She’s a teeny weenie little bundle of joy – a real pocket puppy who would make anyone a happy little buddy. Cocoa was raised in a loving home with a woman who had severe diabetes. This lovely woman cleaned my vet’s office at night and always took Cocoa Puff with her – of course, since the woman worked in a vet office, Coco Puff got the best vet care, so she’s definitely a healthy, happy, social little monkey. But then the saddest thing happened – her human mama died suddenly of diabetes which left Cocoa Puff and two other little darlings, Jax and Henry homeless. Poor Coco is still in a bit of shock over losing her home, but she warms up beautifully after even only two days. She’s a quiet little girl – not at all barky or hyper. She never wanders beyond my front yard and would love nothing better than to sit on your lap while you’re watching a good movie or reading a good book. Coco is wonderful with all other dogs – big ones and small ones. She’s delightful with children and with cats – in fact, one of my rescue kitties weighs four times as much as a little Coco and Coco’s not sure what to make of that! Of course, Coco is spayed and up to date on all her shots, She’s also house trained and crate trained. To brighten your holidays, come meet little Coco Puff and take her home for a few days – she’s looking for a loving and calm forever home. I am a firm believer in having potential adopters take a pup home for a “sleepover” to see how your family, your other pets, and your new best buddy all get along. Kindle was found as a stray and taken to the San Humane Society. Sadly, she wasn't claimed, so on December 2nd, we welcomed her as a Frosted Face. Kindle is estimated to be 8 years old and weighs 19 lbs. She is super sweet, gentle, and good with children and other dogs! A volunteer and her children took Kindle on a special outing and shared this glowing review afterwards: "My kids helped plan the best day for Kindle, and we absolutely fell in love with her. Kindle was a perfect passenger, laying down and falling right asleep in the seat next to me. After school, we attempted a walk to the park. While Kindle is great on the leash, she was kind of uninterested in actually going anywhere and preferred smelling and exploring. Kindle is so sweet. Truly not an aggressive bone in her body. She let me wipe near her eyes, tolerated multiple kids and even sat inches away while there was human food and had no reaction or aggression whatsoever. Kindle LOVES scratches! At the end of the day, I think she enjoyed being lazy and getting scratches the most today! She makes the cutest “happy howl” when she’s getting good pets. We couldn’t handle how cute it was! (See video.) I encourage anyone looking for a very easy, and loving dog to come and meet Kindle soon!" We welcomed Marley as a Frosted Face on December 2nd. He is 12 years old, weighs 20 lbs., and is so very sweet. Marley was surrendered to the San Diego Humane Society by his owners, who cited not having for him as the reason. They described Marley as a good boy that does well with kids and other dogs, and we can attest that's true - along with many other great qualities. Marley joined volunteers and other Frosted Faces at a community event and was a superstar! He was great in the car, perfect on a leash, friendly with everyone he met (even toddlers!) and pranced around all afternoon with the biggest smile! Marley is a cuddle bug for sure, and he barely made a peep the entire afternoon. Marley is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we can learn what he's like in a home setting. His Fling Mom shares: "Marley is one great little guy! On the first night, he went directly to a dog bed and spent the night there. He is house-trained and sleeps through the night quietly. He has not chewed on anything or been destructive at all. Marley walks well on a leash. He loves getting pets and snuggles but is also cool laying alone at the end of the couch or on a dog bed. I haven’t heard him bark at anything at all so far. We have not seen any resource guarding even when my large dog has approached Marley while he’s eating. When I left them home together for the first time, I had a friend stop by and peak in to check on things, she reported they were laying quietly next to each other on the floor. Marley has great recall, isn’t a door dasher, and is an all around great little guy! Whoever adopts him is going to be very lucky and be very loved." BoBo is ready for adoption! BoBo, a 1 1/2 year old, 10 lb male malti-poo is ready for his forever home. BoBo is a sweet, mellow boy that loves snuggling on a lap and follows his foster mom around the house. He hangs out while foster dad works, goes outside for potty breaks, and is staring to enjoy walks (we think it's the first time he's ever been on a walk). He doesn't play with toys yet, he's not sure what they are, but that will come (he has a fun, silly side that is just starting to show). BoBo seems like he was pretty neglected before ending up in a local shelter matted and dirty. BoBo is doing great on his house training, sleeps in his foster parent's bed all night with out a peep, and will make a lucky family a great loving companion.
