Meet Lavender! Lavender and her sister, Zinnia, were found wandering around on their own in a very unsavory neighborhood. These poor girls were emaciated and matted beyond recognition, but still as sweet and loving as can be! While we cannot know if Zinnia and Lavender are true sisters (we actually think they might be mother/daughter), it is obvious how very much they love each other so we are looking to place them in a home together. Zinnia is about a year old and only about 6.5 lbs and Lavender is about 2 yrs old and only 8 lbs. So even adopted together, their combined weight is still less than a lot of small dogs! These girls are great with other dogs but being that they need to stay together, it doesn't matter if their new home has any existing pets or not - they're perfectly happy with new friends or just each other. Hi, my name is Sybil. I am a very special girl, but have had a rough start in life. See I was a breeder dog for a puppy mill. For pretty much by entire life! After I got to old, I was dumped at a rural animal control. Luckily, I was saved by some very nice humans who have given me pretty much anything I could want. I am an almost nine year old lady now, and I am very thankful to be done with puppy mill life! However, because of my rough life, I am not going to be your average dog. I do not like to be picked up or touched. I take a few weeks to settle into a new home as well. After that, I am happy to sit on the other end of the couch from you, but I will jump up when you come too close to me. I am crate and potty trained, but do not like being on a leash. I love meal times and treats! I need a quiet home with another small dog as my companion. I have trouble bonding with humans, but will stay close and keep an eye on you if you will let me. I will follow you everywhere! I may not want to be touched, but I do want to keep an eye on you and the home! I will need a home without children and I will need a home with a secure fenced in yard. Oh and did I mention that I am a small Maltese mix? I only weigh about 8 pounds! Are you the right FUREVER home for me? I certainly was looking rough when my owner surrendered me to the county shelter. Once we realized how bad I was I was rushed to the vet and learned I was eaten up with arthritis. I’ve been to a holistic vet and we’re trying all modes of care. I’m such an angel my foster mom says. I do have trouble getting around so I would love to be at your side on the sofa whiling away the time. I get along with all the other dogs at rescue also. I'm doing well with conventional medication and holistic medication. I've recently started treatment with an electromagnetic pulse device and it is helping. I'm a healthy girl except for the arthritis. I'll need a person that will use all these modes to keep me moving and I will reward you with lots of love and loyalty.
