Meet Hayes! He is an adorable Maltese mix who weighs 10 pounds. He is estimated to be around 3 years old. Hayes has a playful spirit and an incredibly sweet soul! He loves spending his days tossing around his favorite stuffed animals (especially his Lamb Chop!) and his evenings snuggled inside a blanket fort of his own making. When he's tired, you'll often find him burrowed under a cozy blanket, soaking up all the comfort and affection he can get. Although he can be cautious around new people initially, Hayes is very quick to welcome new members into his circle once he realizes they are safe. Once he has warmed up, Hayes is wonderful with people and has proven to be remarkably patient and even gentle with children! Hayes lives with a three year old in his foster home. He handles the excitement and energy of kids with impressive tolerance and grace. He is also an excellent passenger on car rides and can comfortably stay home alone for a few hours in his crate. When it comes to walks, Hayes enjoys peaceful outings where he has plenty of space to relax and explore. He can be leash-reactive toward unfamiliar dogs and strangers, particularly people who approach him suddenly or move quickly, such as runners. He also is happy to stick to a fenced in backyard for playtime if you have one! Hayes is reliably potty trained in his foster home, and will do well in his forever home with a consistent routine. He could do well as the center of attention as the only dog, or with a confident similar in size dog sibling that matches his energy! He is a perfect angel at the vet and at the groomer. Hazel came to us from a loving home who realized they just did not have the time required for a young puppy like her. Hazel may be small but don’t let her petite size fool you! This girl has PERSONALITY and energy for days. Her foster mom has lovingly nicknamed her the “Energizer Bunny” because she is always on the go and ready for her next adventure! Oliver is an 8 year old, 11 lb Maltese with a sweet, gentle personality. After spending his early years in a puppy mill, he’s shy with new people and situations, but once he feels safe, he’s a loving little companion who enjoys being close to his people. Oliver would do best in a quiet, adult-only home. He’s is warming up to men, although he tends to trust women more quickly. While Oliver is fostered with other animals, he doesn’t love sharing his humans’ attention with them, so he would be happiest as an only pet. He isn’t destructive and doesn’t need to be crated, as crates can make him feel protective. Oliver does wear a belly band indoors. Meet Elle Woods! Elle is a 2–3-year-old, 4 lb mixed-breed girl who we suspect may be a Maltese/Chihuahua mix. She came to us with a limp, and X-rays revealed an old fracture that had healed incorrectly. Unfortunately, amputation was the only option, but Elle has recovered beautifully and hasn't let it slow her down one bit! Elle is dog and cat friendly and especially enjoys playing with smaller dogs. She walks nicely on a leash and is also happy to ride along in a backpack carrier, making her a great little hiking companion! She's good in the car and is doing well with both crate and house-training, although her tiny bladder means she can't hold it for very long periods. Her ideal home would have another small, friendly dog to keep her company and give her a playmate. Elle may be tiny, but she's ready to take on the world with her forever family! Matty Mat came to us as a stray. CCAC advised the person who picked him to bring Matty Mat to us. He was severely matted . He has only been with us a few weeks . We are still working with him and getting to know his personality . So far he is very sweet but shy. Once we have more information we will update. Adoptions are generally limited to an approximately 150-mile radius of Jonesboro, Georgia. Exceptions may be considered under certain circumstances. Artie is a little guy with a big personality. We rescued him from the Cobb County shelter, and he’s been learning ever since he joined our Best Chance Program. He’s smart, picks up new skills quickly, and can be a sweetheart when he comes to you for affection. He generally does well with people, currently lives with other dogs in his foster home, and attends training day camps with our partners at Mirror Image K9. Artie is a great dog who has made real progress. He has a bite history and needs an adult-only home. He can be cuddly on his own terms, and he needs people who will respect his space, learn to read his body language, and follow the guidance his trainers provide. Training is at the heart of our Best Chance Program. At the Ozzie Albies Foundation, we want families to understand their dogs and feel equipped to support them at home. Artie goes home with a training package that the Foundation pays for, including required sessions with Mirror Image K9. His adopters will work directly with the trainers to learn what Artie already knows, how to handle him safely, and how to keep building on his progress in everyday life.
