Story
(7 years old, 11lbs) Personality: snuggler, affectionate, gentle, loyal, and eager-to-please. Couscous is an affectionate snuggler with a gentle, loyal, and eager-to-please personality that makes him an instant heart stealer. He loves leisurely walks so he can sniff and explore, and he happily entertains himself with his Kong. Once you sit down, expect him to curl up close and rest his head on your lap like the ultimate cuddle companion. He is mostly housetrained and continues to improve, and he is fully crate trained, settling quietly within about 15 minutes or less. Couscous is crated whenever his people leave the house, where he typically relaxes or naps peacefully until they return. He can be a little vocal when people first leave and may startle at loud noises, but with patience and consistency he continues to build confidence and independence. Couscous is friendly with guests and other dogs, does well on leash, and knows “sit,” “come,” and “good boy.” He is playful, travel friendly, and remarkably sweet, making him a wonderful fit for a loving home. If you are looking for a loyal, all-around sweetheart, apply today to meet Couscous. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. **Important Adoption Information All of our dogs are currently living in private shelters or foster homes in South Korea. Once an adoption is approved, dogs will travel to the United States through legal and approved international transport procedures. Video calls are available prior to adoption, and adopters can communicate with our rescue team in real time through our official organization and app-based messaging channels throughout the process. ----------- • Rescue Story: Meet Tonki👋 In April 2025, a group of small dogs—believed to be victims of an illegal breeding operation—were found abandoned together on the streets of South Korea. Tonki was one of them. Now, he’s ready to leave his difficult past behind and begin a new chapter as a beloved member of a loving family. Having learned how to live happily with humans in his foster home, Tonki is patiently waiting for his forever home—where he’ll be cherished, protected, and loved the way he truly deserves. • Personality: Sweet, Friendly, Bright Tonki is a lovable, easygoing pup with a bright, happy energy. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves showing his humans just how much love he has to give! While he may need a little extra time to warm up to adult men, once he does, he becomes a loyal and devoted furry companion. • Affinity with - Dogs: Wonderful with other dogs! He’d do great as an only dog or as a second dog. - Cats: Not tested - Adults/Kids: Good with people, including kids / Needs a bit more time to warm up to adult men. • House Training: Fully housebroken - using pee pads indoors and going potty outside. • Walking Manners: Super gentle on leash and loves going for walks! • Bathing/Brushing: Tolerates both well. • Separation Anxiety: May howl briefly when first left alone, but once he settled, he relaxes and rests peacefully by himself. • Barks/Howls: Occasional barking when a male family member approaches suddenly. • Car Rides: Comfortable and calm • Appetite/Food Allergies: Big eater! / No food allergies found so far. • Likes/Dislikes: Likes to play with toys that make noise. / Not a fan of being lifted suddenly by a male family member • Shedding level (1~10): 1-2 • Health: Currently a healthy pup! He tested positive for heartworm when rescued, completed treatment successfully, and tested negative in Dec 2025. ----------- **Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: International transportation, Customs and export documentation, Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Your support directly helps us continue rescuing and caring for dogs in need, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding.

Story
Meet Harlee! Harlee has somehow managed to age into a tiny, distinguished gentleman instead of a cranky old man. He is exceedingly polite, emotionally stable, and he comes with a glowing reference list: housebroken, great with kids, respectful of cats, and currently living peacefully among other dogs like a tiny HOA president who just wants everyone to get along. Harlee is easygoing, affectionate, and adaptable in that magical senior-dog way that makes you forget what chaos feels like. He’s the kind of dog who fits into your life instead of rearranging it. He enjoys squeaky toys, though occasionally he loves them a little too much and must be supervised like a toddler with a kazoo. He loves a good walk, a committed couch partnership, a reliable mealtime, and his emotional support stuffy. He is happiest curled directly into a lap, pressed close like he’s trying to memorize your heartbeat. And then, occasionally, he remembers he has legs and releases a set of joyful zoomies ~ flying around with the kind of infectious happiness that turns your day around. Despite being a senior, Harlee did not get the memo about slowing down. He rides great in the car, walks nicely on leash, handles stairs without dramatics, and happily joins in on walks like this is simply part of his daily obligations as a dog. A recent dental and full vet workup confirmed he’s an overall healthy guy. He does have some mild arthritis starting in his hind end, which is being responsibly managed with a joint supplement - because self-care matters. Harlee loves riding in the car, which to him is decidedly not a passive activity. He rises onto his two back legs like a concerned citizen harassing a children’s lemonade standing asking to see their business license. Completely upright in the passenger seat, keeping watch over traffic, pedestrians, and any suspicious landscaping choices. He doesn’t bark or panic. He simply supervises. Like a small, elderly neighborhood watch captain in a wiry fur coat. And then he comes home and melts into any hooman willing or unwilling. Harlee is going to make someone extraordinarily happy. Hallmark happy ~ quiet evenings, warm laps, and a dog who checks on you as often as he checks on the road. Harlee is proof that senior dogs are not “past their prime.” They are the prime. Calm, loving, grateful, and still very much here for the good stuff. Apply today to meet him! Harlee is approximately 13 years old and 15 lbs of extremely good boy. Story
Meet Aspyn! This sweet girl is small enough to fit in the bend of your arm and quiet enough to disappear into a blanket to send you into a panic that she’s vanished. Aspyn was surrendered because the person who loves her could not provide the medical care she may need long term. Her records talk of chronic ear infections, and the luxating patellas we see so often. The slow, manageable things that become more weighty with time. Aspyn is a good pup whose family was struggling with the quiet maintenance of a small aging body. Aspyn is gentle and has lived peacefully with young children, cats, and other dogs. She has been left home alone for a few hours at a time and simply sleeps in her bed like a polite little loaf of bread waiting for her person to return. She’s not use to a crate, and she’s not fully housebroken, but she is potty pad savvy. Aspyn LOVES going outside and practically levitates at the sight of a leash. She toddles along like the world has personally invited her for a stroll and it has instantly become her best day ever. She also adores snuggling, preferring to be in your lap or your arms at all times - the best kind of Stage 5 clinger. Aspyn does not need chaos. She does not need perfection. What she needs is steadiness. A home where a small dog with delicate knees and tender ears can be carried when she’s tired and celebrated when she’s brave. A place where she can finish the second half of her life with dignity and grace, and we intend to find it. Aspyn is approximately 9 years old and 6 lbs. More details to come as we get to know her better. Fostered in Alexandria, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org
