Story
Rocky is a tiny guy at 8 pounds and 10 months.  Despite being a puppy this guy is surprisingly chill.  He gets excited on walks, loves to play, puppy nibbles your fingers but is easily re-directed, and settles nicely in the house when it is time to chill.  He has had a hard time recently being surrendered (with PAW dog Luna who is also available) and was scared being in the shelter.  He has quickly settled into his foster home and is doing well there. Rocky is underweight and needs some fattening up - this might contribute to him being more chill and only time will tell.  He is a very sweet and happy guy who loves to snuggle.  He currently sleeps in a crate with Luna, but would much prefer to be in your bed.  During the day when his foster is working he settles nicely in a bed and sleeps. Rocky gets along well with other dogs.  He met his foster's big dog and had excellent manners. We think he would like to be in a home with another dog as he was raised in a house with dogs.  As a puppy, Rocky will need some training.  He does not quite get "sit" yet but enjoys treats while he is learning!  He does seem to be housetrained but can be expected to have a few accidents when he moves homes. Rocky will be a wonderful dog for someone - are you that person? PAW adopts to the MD, DC, northern VA, and southern PA region. ##2821900##

Story
Luna is a petite princess who wants to be your best friend!  At about 1.5 years old this 7 pound girl is a bundle of happy energy.  She loves bouncing through the grass, playing with her friend Rocky (also available thru PAW), and snuggling her humans.   Luna has had a tough road - surrendered by her people because they were moving, stuck in a scary kennel, she now needs someone with patience to make her feel loved and secure.  She prefers to be with you and would like to sleep in your bed, although she has been sleeping in a crate with her foster.  She also knows "sit" and is working on "down." She is small and easy to walk.  She gets along with Rocky and has met her foster sibling - but she will need work integrating into a household with a dog as her excitement level can be offputting.  She seems to do better with small dogs.  She will also need work on barking - although we don't know if that is because she is a new environment or a habit.  We think once she feels secure she will settle in beautifully and give you more love than you could ever imagine. Luna is a beautiful girl with so much love to give!  Can you be the person she gets to share it with? PAW adopts to the MD, DC, northern VA, and southern PA regions. ##2821904##

This sweet little guy made his way to K-9 Lifesavers from Alabama, where adoptions can be few and far between — and he brought plenty of his Southern charm with him! Martin is sweet, affectionate, playful and full of love. He adores people (loves to be held) and is also wonderful with other dogs. With his friendly personality and loving nature, Martin will make an excellent companion and a wonderful addition to just about any home, although he does have a lot of say sometimes so an apartment might not be ideal.. This deserving boy is ready to leave his past behind and start his happily-ever-after. Could that be with you? Apply today and change Martin’s life forever! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Senior dog notice!!! Meet Lulu 🐾 Lulu is a sweet, gentle senior girl of 12 years, looking for a quiet, loving home to spend her golden years in. Lulu is very low-key and not an active dog, making her a wonderful match for someone looking for a calm companion — whether that's a retiree, a quieter household, or anyone who wants a mellow presence at home rather than a high-energy playmate. She thrives on gentle affection and simply being close to her people. As a senior dog, Lulu will need some extra patience and understanding. She needs to pee frequently and may have accidents if she isn't let out often, so she'd do best with someone who's home a lot or can accommodate regular potty breaks throughout the day. She'll also benefit from routine vet check-ins and a soft, comfortable place to rest.

Story
Taffy was found abandoned on a rural back road, painfully matted, with fur tangled over her eyes. She understandably does not want to be abandoned again, so she is looking for a home where people are around most of the time. Taffy walks reasonably well on the leash and enjoys time sniffing around the yard. She has been staying in a foster home with other small dogs and cats and gets along well with everyone. She rides well in a car if she is secure in a cat carrier, but riding loose makes her nervous. She needs help going up and down stairs but fortunately is easy to carry. She is a very sweet girl who loves treats and being with her humans. She also loves to push her big donut bed around trying to get it comfy. Taffy is blind and deaf. We are awaiting a determination of whether she will need to have her eyes removed, as they are quite painful for her. She is currently on eye drops, which does not make her happy. Taffy is also recovering from a fungal infection in her skin, but she is receiving treatment for that and is expected to recover. She has a grade 5 heart murmur which does not currently require any treatment but will require monitoring. Taffy came to us with separation anxiety, but she now feels secure enough in her foster home that it seems to have resiolved. She is a good communicator who rarely barks, except when shes done walking and pottying. She will occasionally bark if shes riding in car and needs to potty. She's also a great listener. Taffy is making good progress on her housetraining but will benefit from having potty pads available, at least initially. Taffy has had a hard life. She deserves all the good things. Can you give them to her? Apply today! Taffy is approx 12 yrs old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Berkeley Springs, WV Please apply at mirishaven.org
