Story
Ribbit is a young maltese/yorkie mix who is currently not available for adoption, as she is undergoing medical treatment. She is a tripod- meaning she had one of her back legs ampuated (before she came to Lowell Humane Society). She is currently under medical watch, as she appears to have a SI Luxation and needs further testing to determine if surgery will be an option to help save this poor girl. Her medical bills are already nearly $400- and climbing. Please consider making a donation to help with her care and others like her. https://www.lowellhumanesociety.org/donate/

NEW ENGLAND ADOPTER/FOSTER-TO-ADOPT/FOSTER NEEDED! Meet Emma. She weighs approx 11 lbs. Her dob is 12/17/22.   Emma is good with other dogs of all sizes.  She would love a family who will let her sit in their lap, take her for walks and sleep in their bed. Note: Emma is currently in Texas and will be transproted to New England when and adopter for foster home is secured. If you are interested in adopting any of our dogs, please complete our online adoption application:  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/31747/generic For more info, please email skylyrspassion@att.net OR visit our website: http://www.lifesaverssp.org/ We will conduct a phone interview, check references and then a home check. This helps us to match a dog with their potential adopter. The adoption fee is $500.00 for adults and $600.00 for puppies under one year which includes spay/neutering, up-to-date age-appropriate vaccinations, flea/tick & heartworm preventative, and a health certificate. We foster our dogs in homes, not in shelters. This allows us to get to know the dogs’ temperaments to match them to a home. This also allows us to get the dogs ready to live in their forever homes! All dogs coming from the south have been quarantined for two weeks and fully vetted before traveling to New England!

Story
Sweet P is exactly what her name promises… a gentle, quiet little soul who just needs a bit of time to feel safe—and when she does, her sweetness will shine.Sweet Pea’s journey has been a long one, but every step has brought her closer to the dog she was always meant to be. Rescued from a hoarding situation in Virginia Beach, this gentle girl spent the last four years in a dedicated foster home learning how to trust, how to feel safe, and simply how to be a dog. And today? Mission accomplished.Sweet Pea may never be the kind of dog who climbs into your lap demanding cuddles, but she has her own quiet, beautiful way of loving. She enjoys being near her people, happily sharing space and companionship while observing the world around her. Human touch can still make her nervous at times, so she needs someone who understands that trust is something earned gently and patiently. Every little step forward with Sweet Pea feels incredibly rewarding. What truly brings out her confidence is other dogs. She absolutely needs a calm, confident canine companion in her forever home — another dog helps her feel secure and shows her that the world is okay. She takes her cues from her dog friends and thrives when she has them by her side.Sweet Pea loves her daily walks and is wonderful on leash. Exploring the neighborhood gives her joy and helps build her confidence even more. She is crate trained and feels safest in a wire crate where she can see both her humans and her dog companions nearby. She is also potty trained, though occasional accidents can happen if she becomes startled or nervous. A steady routine and patient guidance will help her continue to succeed. While car rides are still unfamiliar territory, Sweet Pea continues to surprise everyone with how much she grows and learns, so her future is full of possibility. And with that adorable face and a little brushing here and there, she’s truly a tiny beauty.Sweet Pea would do best in a calm, quiet home without young children — a home filled with patience, stability, and kindness. She asks for very little: a safe place, understanding humans, and a confident dog friend to help guide her. In return, you’ll get the privilege of watching a once-frightened soul continue to blossom. And who knows? Maybe someday Sweet Pea will decide snuggles are nice after all. But if she does, it will be on her terms — and that will make it all the more special.Name: Sweet PBreed: Maltese/Bichon? Story
Meet Maeve! This sweet girl didn't have a great start to life. She came to us incredibly matted - so matted that it was painful, she couldn't see, and every touch was terrifying because she couldn't see it coming and didn't know what was happening. She's only about 18mo old. With how matted and overgrown she was, she had probably NEVER been groomed. Considering she is a maltese/yorkie mix, you can imagine how that must have looked/felt for her.Maeve is, understandably, wary of the world. She's only about 12lbs and the world is ENROMOUS and there is a lot that she doesn't understand. It's not her fault. She's just a baby and there are so many things she's never been exposed to and so many experiences she's never had. Getting her used to walking on a leash was a process but one of our dedicated staff members has taken it upon herself to make Maeve her "project" and Maeve has come a long way!Maeve will need a family that has the time and patience to invest into her. They will need to understand that she can and will snap/nip out of fear so going slow with her is a MUST. She does well with other dogs (bouncy, high-energy dogs do spook her so calmer, low-key dogs would be best) and she does well with cats. We are looking for an adult only home but older teenagers should be fine.Once Maeve trusts you, she's a velcro pup. She just wants to be inside of your skin with you. She'll snuggle up in your lap, you can pick her up, touch her all over, etc. You just need to put in the work to get to that point with her.To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.
