Story
Sweet P is exactly what her name promises… a gentle, quiet little soul who just needs a bit of time to feel safe—and when she does, her sweetness will shine.Sweet Pea’s journey has been a long one, but every step has brought her closer to the dog she was always meant to be. Rescued from a hoarding situation in Virginia Beach, this gentle girl spent the last four years in a dedicated foster home learning how to trust, how to feel safe, and simply how to be a dog. And today? Mission accomplished.Sweet Pea may never be the kind of dog who climbs into your lap demanding cuddles, but she has her own quiet, beautiful way of loving. She enjoys being near her people, happily sharing space and companionship while observing the world around her. Human touch can still make her nervous at times, so she needs someone who understands that trust is something earned gently and patiently. Every little step forward with Sweet Pea feels incredibly rewarding. What truly brings out her confidence is other dogs. She absolutely needs a calm, confident canine companion in her forever home — another dog helps her feel secure and shows her that the world is okay. She takes her cues from her dog friends and thrives when she has them by her side.Sweet Pea loves her daily walks and is wonderful on leash. Exploring the neighborhood gives her joy and helps build her confidence even more. She is crate trained and feels safest in a wire crate where she can see both her humans and her dog companions nearby. She is also potty trained, though occasional accidents can happen if she becomes startled or nervous. A steady routine and patient guidance will help her continue to succeed. While car rides are still unfamiliar territory, Sweet Pea continues to surprise everyone with how much she grows and learns, so her future is full of possibility. And with that adorable face and a little brushing here and there, she’s truly a tiny beauty.Sweet Pea would do best in a calm, quiet home without young children — a home filled with patience, stability, and kindness. She asks for very little: a safe place, understanding humans, and a confident dog friend to help guide her. In return, you’ll get the privilege of watching a once-frightened soul continue to blossom. And who knows? Maybe someday Sweet Pea will decide snuggles are nice after all. But if she does, it will be on her terms — and that will make it all the more special.Name: Sweet PBreed: Maltese/Bichon? Story
Rory is a sweet and peppy 17-pound Havanese/Maltese mix. He's 11, but he's a little dog and still has many years of fun in him! Rory came to Save a Dog with MayBelle, surrendered by their adoring owner when she developed a terminal illness. He is a friendly boy who loves belly rubs. His mom called him her "furry four-legged water bottle" because he is so snuggly. He was raised with holistic care and supplements so should live a long and healthy life. Rory knows basic commands like sit, stay, and leave it. He is housetrained and crate trained. Won't you give him a second chance at a loving home? Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp, and someone will get right back to you.

Story
Special Adopter Needed – Gentle, Sweet Soul with a Hard Past Fozzie is a 1 y/o, 18 lb. ShihTzu-Maltese mix who was abandoned in a rural area. He was rescued and sent to a foster home where we learned that he may have endured some abuse in his short life. This beautiful boy desperately wants to be near his human companions and will follow you around, eager to snuggle up next to you on the couch. Very affectionate and playful, he greets everyone he meets with joy (even the vet and groomer!), and loves his belly rubs and chew toys. He is fully house-trained and walks well on a leash. As a result of his prior likely mistreatment, his nervous system is a bit overwhelmed. This shows up in the way he protects himself and his things (toys/treats), and he has the ability to snap/bite if pushed past his comfort zone. *** He needs an experienced adopter who will give him time to settle in, read his body language, and teach him not to fear, but for that right person, he will be the sweetest, most loving little fellow. *** Fozzie will be best set up to succeed in a • A calm, adult-only home  • An experienced, patient adopter who understands fearful dogs • Someone who is home most of the time as he has separation anxiety when left alone • A house, not an apartment (ideally with a fenced-in yard for him to run!) because he howls when left alone With structure, boundaries, and respect, he will be a loyal, loving companion. For the right person, he will be incredibly rewarding. For the wrong situation, he will be overwhelmed and we do not want to set him - or you - up for failure. If you think you may be the right home for Fozzie, please text/call Aly at 732-604-0625. We also have additional photos/videos to share. Thank you for caring about a pet in need! Please NOTE: Fozzie is currently located in the Boston, MA area. The adoption fee listed is in order for the rescue to recoup actual expenses from his vetting, transport, and care.
