Story
Slushy, AKA Brandy, along with three other sweet girls (Cindy, Faith and Quiznos ) came from a home that had 60 dogs in it. The local shelter contacted one of our southern recuse partners for help. Now, these four little ladies are part of the PAWSNE family. All these girls are hoarder survivors, so they did not get the attention they needed until now. They are making significant progress with their socialization, though they are still quite shy. Slushy is now in New England, learning to be a loved dog.Being a hoarding survivor, she will need an experienced adopter with a quiet household. She loves personal attention but is still initially overwhelmed by it and can be fearful when touched. However, once she lets you, she enjoys it. She is head shy, but loving. She is also initially spooked when you attempt to pick her up, but again, she will eventually relax and take it all in.Slushy is still scared of loud noises and people walking about when she is outside on her leash. She attempts to run away or lies flat. Therefore, she will do best with a secure fenced in yard. Once this girl gets the courage to sit near her human, she becomes very cuddly, relaxes, and loves to be petted. She is slowly understanding slowly that her person can be trusted to give her love and positive attention. Foster mom says she is just precious. Slushy plays with her toys, and has an overall calm demeanor. She is protective of her food, so is fed separately from her foster siblings. She is making great progress in housebreaking, will use a pee pad if there is one, and actually has been trusted to roam if foster mom is not in the house. As with most fearful dogs, she would benefit greatly from exercise and mental stimulation. Having another confident and playful dog in the household would be best for her. She can follow their cues and learn what it is truly like to be a beloved family member. So, to wrap up, this sweetheart needs:✅ Experienced 1 or 2 people household✅ Another confident, playful dog✅ Fenced in yard✅Understanding of her fears and a commitment to training and exercise✅ Patience and loveHelping a scared dog like Slushy come into their own is truly such an amazing and rewarding experience!!Name: SlushyBreed: Maltese/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 3 years (estimated)Weight: 8 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: Most likely not, they would be too overwhelming for her.
