Story
Mia is a tiny, loving pup who’s been hanging out in foster care while recovering from surgery to remove bladder stones—and she’s doing great! Because of her medical history, Mia will need to stay on a lifetime prescription urinary diet to help keep her healthy and feeling her best. We also require a vet reference for her adoption, just to make sure she continues getting the care and food she needs. In foster, Mia has shown what a total cuddle bug she is. Her foster mom says she’s pee pad trained, crate trained at night, and happiest when she’s glued to her person’s side. Seriously—if you’re looking for a little shadow who will follow you from room to room and keep you company all day, Mia is your girl. Her activity level is pretty low; she’s perfectly content to lounging around, napping, and soaking up affection most of the day. Mia can be a bit barky and nervous when meeting new people, but don’t let that fool you—she warms up quickly. Mia prefers to be the only dog in the home and this way she can be a single spoiled child. If you’re looking for a calm, cuddly, devoted little companion who just wants to be near her person and live the cozy life, Mia might be your perfect match Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. Story
Name: Xuegao Gender: Male Date of Birth: August 16, 2019 Breed: Maltese Neutered: No Xuegao is an adult Maltese who has been with me since he was young. He is very bonded to his owner and does best in familiar, calm environments. With people he knows well, he can be affectionate and attached. Due to my current situation involving frequent travel between locations, unstable work circumstances, and financial hardship, I am no longer able to provide the consistent environment or ongoing care (including boarding and management costs) that he needs. Because of this, I am seeking a stable and experienced home that would be a better long-term fit for him. Xuegao can be reactive and anxious around strangers or in unfamiliar environments. When stressed or startled, he may bark excessively and show defensive behavior. For this reason, he would be best suited for: • An experienced dog owner • A quiet, stable household • No young children • Someone patient and willing to give him

Story
Meet Scrunchie.  Tiny. Petite. Fully out of the land shark phase. Scrunchie is that perfect in-between girl. Not a wild puppy. Not a couch potato. Just a sweet little 11-pound best friend who wants to go on walks, run errands, and then lean into you like you personally invented love. She was fully potty trained in Texas. The extreme cold up here has offended her deeply, so she sometimes waits until she’s back inside to handle business. Honestly relatable. Warmer weather will likely solve this tiny diva moment. She’s dog friendly and has been exposed to other dogs. Curious at first, a little vocal, but interested and appropriate. She’s also cat friendly. She may want a proper introduction, but she’s shown no concerning behaviors. She walks nicely on leash, rides great in the car, adapts quickly to new environments, and settles in fast. Independent enough to entertain herself with puzzle toys and self-moving balls, but affectionate enough to follow you from room to room, lean into your legs, and give kisses like it’s her part-time job. She’s not a big barker and she’s not underfoot. She likes attention, but she’s not clingy in an overwhelming way. Crate life? She’ll protest with some whining. She would definitely prefer to sleep in a soft bed near her person. Respectfully. Her hobbies include: • Finding hidden treats in cardboard rolls • Hide and seek with blankets • Puzzle toys • Fetch • Music appreciation • Licking your face Ideal home? Doting parents. Quiet environment. People who enjoy walks, engagement, and a dog who will both cuddle and do her own thing. A house with a small yard would be lovely, but mostly she wants companionship. She learns quickly. She knows “come.” She adapts fast. She bonds even faster. If you’ve been waiting for a small, past-the-puppy-stage girl who’s sweet, curious, affectionate, dog friendly, cat friendly, and ready to be someone’s Valentine… Scrunchie is waiting.   This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.   ##2636769##
