Story
PLEASE NOTE: This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to Massachusetts shortly with no additional travel costs. Roughly 90% of our dogs are adopted prior to their transport up to MA and 10% are adopted locally.Meet Blackjack! Blackjack is approximately 10 years old, 17 lbs and he may have some Maltese in his mix. He was living the good life until the grandma had to take grandchildren in to live. He did not do well with them, hid 24/7, and it was just not good for everyone. In his foster home, he is doing great with house training, crate training, and leash walking. He could join households with teens, cats, and other dogs. His foster says, `What a beautiful boy. Blackjack may not want to live with little children, but he has no issue with other little dogs. He is not a lively player, but he does like the company of other pups and will explore all day long with them. He even followed one down the slide for the first time. He LOVES squeaky toys and will entertain himself all day long. Little Blackjack arrived in rescue because he wasn’t doing well with his growing and changing family. After many years of enjoying his adult retirement life, it all changed when the grandchildren moved in. He was well taken care of. He accepted love and affection right away. His little crooked tooth just adds to his charm. It came in crooked when his baby tooth got knocked out.Dog/cat friendly. No children, please. He would like a more quiet place to retire.`He is available for adoption in N Dartmouth on August 14 or possibly earlier. Please fill out an application on our website at https://www.browndogcoalition.com/adoptable as a first step.-Dogs may not be given as gifts or surprises.-Please thoughtfully discuss with your entire household the physical, safety, financial and emotional responsibilities of a dog BEFORE applying to adopt.- More information about our adoption process, application and adoption fees can be found at browndogcoalition.com

Story
Meet Simba – A Little Dog with a Big Heart! Simba is currently thriving in a loving foster home, where we`ve had the chance to truly get to know what a wonderful companion he is. His foster family has learned that this sweet senior boy is full of love, personality, and plenty of youthful energy!Don`t let his age fool you—Simba still loves to run, jump, explore, and soak up the sunshine. One of his favorite things is finding a warm patch of grass to stretch out and relax after a nice walk. Here`s what his foster family has discovered about Simba:• He absolutely LOVES to cuddle and be petted.• He`s wonderful on a leash and enjoys daily walks.• He`s very friendly with other dogs and currently lives happily with an older foster brother. The two enjoy going on walks together, and Simba is incredibly gentle—even if his foster brother tries to sneak bites from his food, Simba remains calm and passive.• He`s housebroken and lets you know when he needs to go outside by going to the sliding door.• He`s great with older children.• He takes his daily kidney medication with easeLike many dogs, Simba prefers being with his people. Apartment living wouldn`t be ideal for him as he can be vocal for a period of time when left alone.Simba does have a heart murmur that currently doesn`t slow him down or require medication, though it may need treatment in the future. He also takes lifelong medication to help protect his kidneys.Simba has settled beautifully into foster care, and now he`s ready for the next chapter—a forever home of his own. If you`re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys both outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle sessions, Simba could be the perfect addition to your family. For more information or to set up a meet & greet with Simba, please call 508-867-5525 or email fostering@secondchanceanimals.org

Story
Ribbit is a young maltese/yorkie mix who is currently not available for adoption, as she is undergoing medical treatment. She is a tripod- meaning she had one of her back legs ampuated (before she came to Lowell Humane Society). She is currently under medical watch, as she appears to have a SI Luxation and needs further testing to determine if surgery will be an option to help save this poor girl. Her medical bills are already nearly $400- and climbing. Please consider making a donation to help with her care and others like her. https://www.lowellhumanesociety.org/donate/

Story
Meet Maeve! This sweet girl didn't have a great start to life. She came to us incredibly matted - so matted that it was painful, she couldn't see, and every touch was terrifying because she couldn't see it coming and didn't know what was happening. She's only about 18mo old. With how matted and overgrown she was, she had probably NEVER been groomed. Considering she is a maltese/yorkie mix, you can imagine how that must have looked/felt for her.Maeve is, understandably, wary of the world. She's only about 12lbs and the world is ENROMOUS and there is a lot that she doesn't understand. It's not her fault. She's just a baby and there are so many things she's never been exposed to and so many experiences she's never had. Getting her used to walking on a leash was a process but one of our dedicated staff members has taken it upon herself to make Maeve her "project" and Maeve has come a long way!Maeve will need a family that has the time and patience to invest into her. They will need to understand that she can and will snap/nip out of fear so going slow with her is a MUST. She does well with other dogs (bouncy, high-energy dogs do spook her so calmer, low-key dogs would be best) and she does well with cats. We are looking for an adult only home but older teenagers should be fine.Once Maeve trusts you, she's a velcro pup. She just wants to be inside of your skin with you. She'll snuggle up in your lap, you can pick her up, touch her all over, etc. You just need to put in the work to get to that point with her.To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.
