Meet Juliette!This may actually be a lamb or perhaps some sort of strange bunny or maybe a tiny llama. On paper, she's a maltese mix...but your eyeballs may beg to differ. Juliette is about eight years old and she's a little bit under 11lbs. When she came to us, she definitely did not look like this. She, unfortunately, looked more like a firework of fluff or maybe a dryer lint trap that hadn't been cleaned out in a reeeeeally long time. Sadly, her previous owner has dementia and just could not keep up with her grooming needs and daily care the way that they used to.Juliette is a very, very sweet, shy girl that's just looking for love. She's a little nervous when she first meets someone new, but that's to be expected. She's used to a quiet, calm household so the chaos of the shelter can be overwhelming. She was a very, VERY good girl for her grooming though! She also does well with other dogs, though we wouldn't want to place her with dogs that are much larger or high-energy. We haven't officially tested her with cats yet but we don't anticipate there being a problem - she's more likely to skedaddle away than try and square up. Older kids preferred because littles might be too much noise and chaos for her.She does like her walks and will never say no to a leisurely stroll. She's in good health for her age and it's clear that her owner loved her more than anything. She will require regular grooming and daily coat maintenance (once it grows back). Please visit us on Facebook: Rebecca's Paws and Claws in Remlap and our website: www.rpacirescue.org. All dogs from this rescue are transported from Alabama to the New England area and delivered in RI. Each dog will come fully vetted. Price also includes transportation and a Health Certificate as required by law. There is a 150.00 deposit required at the time of adoption to secure the transport crate. The remainder of the fee will be paid once you pick up the dog. Naturally the 150.00 comes off the total owed at pick up. It will be refunded if for any reason you decide you do not want to adopt, unless the transport has already left.with the dog. Meet Puffin!Many of you have probably seen Puffin in the local news as a cruelty case out of New Bedford. His name was Ace. Since we're giving him a new start, we gave him a new name as well. A fresh start, a fresh slate, and here's to new beginnings for this guy!Puffin is about eight months old and is a small poodle mix at around 15lbs. He probably won't get much bigger but we can't guarantee that he'll stay under 20lbs. We also can't guarantee that he's hypoallergenic because we have no way of knowing what he's mixed with.Despite his past, Puffin is VERY MUCH a typical puppy. He's rambunctious and high-energy, still needs help with his leash manners, and is just discovering his voice and how to use it...and he uses it OFTEN. He would not be ideal for shared walls/apartment complexes or for people with a sedentary lifestyle because this guy is a three ring circus all on his own and NEEDS an outlet for that energy. He's also a poodle mix and poodles are wildly intelligent so he'll need that mental stimulation as well.You would think that Puffin would be afraid of people but nope. He's been nothing but a social butterfly here, ready and willing to make friends with anything and everything. This includes cats who want absolutely nothing to do with him whic he doesn't understand...so dog-savvy/dog-tolerant cats only, please. He's very excited to meet other dogs but tends to lose interest when that energy isn't reciprocated.While Puffin has been nothing but playful and gentle here, we are asking for older kids (10+) only. He has been through some brutal trauma and, while he hasn't shown any lasting effects of that here, there is ALWAYS the potential that something could trigger him. We're hoping that he's young enough that it will just be a bump in the road for him but we NEED to set him up for success.Please, PLEASE make sure that, if you apply for Puffin, you are a match for what he needs to thrive. We understand that his story will tug on a lot of heartstrings and a lot of people will want to adopt him but we cannot stress enough that he is a high-energy puppy with minimal training and he will need constant mental stimulation and exercise to keep him happy and healthy.
