Story
Meet Holly, the adorable one-year-old Maltese who is ready to leave her breeder days behind and start living the spoiled life she deserves! This tiny white fluff ball has a big personality, an even bigger heart, and enough charm to win over just about everyone she meets. Holly is incredibly affectionate, adventurous, and loves people—including the guys! She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats, making her an easy addition to most families. She has been doing great with pottying on a pad in the kitchen and will happily go outside when you take her. Now, there's one thing you should know about Miss Holly...she has very strong feelings about kennels. In Holly's opinion, being separated from her people is simply unacceptable, and she will enthusiastically share those opinions with you! Luckily, her foster family has discovered that she's perfectly trustworthy with free roam of the house alongside her furry siblings while they're away. No kennel? Holly approves! Or be willing to clean up the mess if you want to work on kennel training. Whether she's following you around the house, making new friends, or joining you on life's little adventures, Holly is happiest when she's part of the family. She's ready to trade her past for a lifetime of love, cuddles, and freedom. If you're looking for a sweet, happy little companion with a dash of sass and a whole lot of love, Holly just might be your perfect match! Adoption fee: $450 plus tax. Apply at www.campcompanion.org

Meet Oso! 🐾❤️ If you’re looking for a gentle soul with a heart full of love, Oso might just be your perfect match. Oso is the definition of a sweetheart. He may be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he knows he’s safe and loved, his affectionate personality shines. Before long, he’ll be curled up in your lap, soaking up every bit of attention he can get. One of Oso’s best qualities is how well he fits into a family. He absolutely adores cats and has been wonderful with my baby, showing just how gentle and patient he is. He currently lives with another dog and does well, though he would likely thrive in a home with a calmer, older, or smaller canine companion rather than a high-energy playmate. Oso is happiest when he’s close to his people. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch, reading a book, or watching TV, he’ll gladly be your loyal cuddle buddy. If you’re willing to give this sweet, loving boy a little time to settle in, you’ll be rewarded with a devoted best friend who will love you with his whole heart. Oso is ready to find the forever family he deserves. Apply at campcompanion.org. Adoption fee is $450 plus tax!

Story
Montee is a ~10 year old Maltese mix with a big personality. He does not shed so needs hair cuts. He’s a spunky, funny little guy who still enjoys short bursts of energy followed by long, cozy naps in the sun. He’s happiest right by your side, whether that’s laying at your feet while you work or supervising in the kitchen as your dedicated “sous chef.” Montee prefers women over men. He loves his little stuffed “babies,” enjoys car rides, and will always let you know when someone is at the door. No apartments please. Montee thrives on routine and prefers a quiet, predictable home. Dinner is at 5:00 PM sharp, and as an older gent he’ll need frequent potty breaks throughout the day. Montee has a few fatty lump, so he prefers to be gently cradled rather than picked up around his belly. He’s a true shadow dog who likes to keep tabs on his people at all times. He must go to a home with no young kids. He currently lives with a laid-back cat and a bunch of little dogs and does well, and has lived with a larger lab brother. He prefers women and may take a little time to warm up to men but he will eventually. Montee is a wonderful, loyal companion looking for a calm home to spend his golden years. Montee just got his teeth cleaned and is ready for adoption. Adoption fee is $450+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org Montee does qualify for the senior for senior program.

Story
Meet **Baxter** – proof that the biggest personalities sometimes come in the tiniest packages! Weighing in at just **5 pounds**, this little Maltese is convinced he's the king of the castle... and honestly, we're not here to argue. Baxter is equal parts cuddly lap dog and busy little explorer. One minute he's happily snuggled in your lap soaking up all the love, and the next he's off on an important mission, happily circling and investigating everything around him. After spending the first part of his life with a breeder, Baxter is officially ready to retire into the luxury lifestyle he's always deserved. Think soft blankets, cozy laps, tasty treats, and people who adore him—he's ready for all of it! Baxter was just neutered this week and is still working on his potty training and leash skills. He also hasn't quite figured out stairs yet, so he'll appreciate a family willing to help him build his confidence at his own pace. Until he is fully potty trained, he wears a belly band. Hopefully after all that testosterone is out of him, he will get it. This little guy gets along well with other dogs and would likely do just fine with cats and respectful children. He'd also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only. But is wonderful with other dogs. Now, let's talk about two very important Baxter facts: 📢 **First:** Baxter has opinions... and he isn't shy about sharing them! If you live in an apartment, condo, or anywhere with shared walls, keep in mind that this little man can be quite the barker, especially if you try to keep him away from you or blocked off. 🚫 **Second (and according to Baxter, the most important):** He absolutely refuses to be kenneled. If you try, he will file a very loud and lengthy complaint with management. Baxter is looking for a home that understands kennel life simply isn't for him and is comfortable managing him without one. If you're looking for a tiny companion with a huge personality, endless cuddles, and enough confidence for a dog ten times his size, Baxter just might be your perfect match. **Apply to adopt Baxter at CampCompanion.org.** His adoption fee is **$450 plus tax**.

Story
Some dogs are able to recover from neglect or abuse faster than others…..if only they could tell us about those early years of their life. Cody is a 3.5 yr old. 13# male Shih Tzu/maltese former breeder dog that is still in the process of his recovery, and is hoping someone with patience and previous dog experience is able to take him and continue working with him. Another small, playful dog and a secure fenced yard are also requirements to help him be successful. Cody would not be suited to a family with children of any age because of his fears of new people, loud noises, and fast movements. He has been in his foster home for quite a while – he trusts his foster mom, and is relaxed and seeks attention from her, but transitioning into a new home could be like starting all over again. Let me tell you more about him. His foster mom is retired, and home with him most of the time. Cody prefers to approach her for cuddle time when she is sitting or laying down, instead of towering over him. He comes to her when she calls him inside the house, but doesn’t have recall when he is out in the yard, so he is either contained in a kennel area when out, or drags a long leash around in his fenced area so you can use that instead of grabbing at him when he’s out. If someone scares or forces him, or raises their voice, it takes quite a while for him to forgive you. He tolerates meeting new people, but is more fearful of men and might try to hide from them. His foster home has a doggie door that he has learned to use, but his new home might not; Cody is willing to go out into the cold for a short time, so you will need to establish a schedule that works for him, and have a potty pad down for emergencies. His meals are dry food soaked in water for 5 minutes – he can be reluctant to eat, and acts like he is watching for new people to approach. Cody is most comfortable around the resident dogs, and loves to run and play with them. The other dog/dogs in the home should be tolerant, playful, be good pack leaders and “show him the ropes”. Cody rides OK in the car, in a crate. In warmer weather, he has been taken on short walks – doesn’t understand the purpose of a walk when there is a perfectly wonderful fenced yard to run around in. Cody has a loud bark, so best suited to single-family home instead of a building that shares a wall with another family. Cody is neutered, and current on vaccinations. The heartworm test and tick profile are all negative. He requires grooming about every 3 months. If you have questions, or would like to adopt Cody, call 651-771-5662. His adoption fee is $300 .

Story
*This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Meet Coco, a little senior sweetheart with a big love for attention. Coco is the smaller half of this adorable bonded pair, and he wants nothing more than to be right by your side — or better yet, in your lap giving kisses. He is affectionate, snuggly, and happiest when he’s close to his people. Coco has a relaxed daily routine and enjoys several short walks a day. After a potty break, breakfast, and a walk, he’s usually ready to curl up in a soft bed or relax in his kennel with Cooper nearby. He’s not too interested in toys, but he does have the cutest habit of “digging” himself the perfect little spot before collapsing into a deep, cozy nap. Coco is crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, and knows simple commands. He does bark at other dogs at first, but he’s been improving with treats and just needs a little time to sniff and settle. Coco is wonderful with people and loves being touched, petted, and included. Coco and Cooper are truly bonded and must be adopted together. These sweet senior boys are low-key, loving companions who still enjoy getting outside for walks and fresh air. They are ready to bring double the snuggles, double the smiles, and double the love to their forever home. ---- Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your Senior dog in top shape.
