Story
Meet Aven – The Adorable Maltese with a Big Personality! Aven may be tiny in size, but she’s packed with personality! This sweet little Maltese loves treats and thrives on being close to her person. Though she was a bit anxious at first, she’s come a long way since joining her foster home and is now a loving and affectionate companion. She loves being picked up and will happily join you on the couch for some cuddles—showing off her big heart in a small package. Aven is a breeder release dog, so she started off a little unsure of her new world. The first few days, she was pretty evasive, but with the help of her doggy friends in the foster home, she’s learned to trust humans and is now much more comfortable. She follows the cues of the other dogs and does best in a home with other canine companions. She’s afraid of men and can be fearful in public spaces, but at home, she’s a happy, affectionate little girl. Aven has been doing wonderfully with her potty training and is fully kennel trained. She knows how to navigate stairs and use a doggie door like a pro! Aven is also doing well on leash walks with the other dogs in the foster home and has made great strides in leash training. The Ideal Home for Aven: Aven would thrive in a home with another dog, as she loves their company and feels more secure with their support. She’d do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can feel safe. Aven is still learning to navigate the world outside of her home, but she’s made incredible progress and is ready for a family who will continue to help her grow and feel loved. If you’re looking for a sweet, loving little dog who’s come a long way and is ready to keep learning, Aven might be the perfect match for you! Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $350 plus tax.

Story
Meet Edwin 💙 — a tiny 7-lb Maltese breeder release with a huge personality and a talent for making people laugh. Edwin is a funny little guy who brings big, joyful energy… especially when other dogs are around. Edwin is still getting used to living in a home with people. He will snuggle his foster mom on his own and is slowly becoming more comfortable with being picked up and petted. What he lacks in confidence with people, he more than makes up for in his love of dogs — they make him very happy and help him feel safe. Edwin is under-socialized, but with patience, gentle handling, and consistent, kind routines, he is beginning to feel more secure and learn what it means to be loved. He’ll do best in a calm home that lets him move at his own pace and celebrates small wins. He walks well on a leash if he’s accompanied by another dog. Edwin is doing well going potty outside on a schedule with the help of his foster family’s dogs as role models. REQUIREMENTS: • Edwin must have another social dog in the home (all sizes are fine!) Adoption fee: $350.00 + tax Apply to adopt: www.campcompanion.org Edwin is looking for a patient, dog-savvy home where he can feel safe, follow a confident canine friend, and let his big personality shine. 🐾

Story
Meet this sweet 7-year-old Maltese Poodle mix with a heart full of love 💛 This gentle girl came to rescue as an owner surrender, and while we don’t know all of her past, it’s clear she was deeply loved and included in daily life. She absolutely adores people and forms a quick, strong bond with her person—she just wants to be close and part of whatever you’re doing. She is kennel trained and keeps her space clean, never having accidents in her crate. She does best when her kennel is in view of her people, as she finds comfort in knowing you’re nearby. If she sees you getting ready to leave, she may get a little anxious and vocal at first, but she does settle down with time. This girl LOVES her walks and does wonderfully on a leash. She happily goes potty while out on walks and seems to truly enjoy that one-on-one time. She also appears to be a big fan of car rides—she gets excited when she thinks she might be coming along, which makes us believe she was a frequent travel buddy in her previous home. She gets along well with other dogs and peacefully coexists with the cat in her foster home, mostly choosing to ignore them. Her calm, affectionate nature would make her a wonderful companion in a variety of homes. She will need regular hair cuts. Her ideal home would be one where she isn’t left alone for long periods and where she can join her person for walks, errands, and maybe even car rides. She is a loving, loyal companion who just wants to be by your side. If you’re looking for a sweet, devoted little shadow to share your days with, she might just be your perfect match 🐶💕 Adoption fee: $350 plus tax; approximately $378.46 Apply at: www.campcompanion.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Tallahassee is a 9.5-pound Maltese senior with a soft spirit, a shy heart, and the sweetest presence you could ever hope for in a companion. She’s around 9–10 years old and has some medical needs, but she is full of love, calm energy, and quiet companionship. She is incredibly gentle and wonderfully quiet — truly a dream dog for anyone with shared walls or a peaceful home. She never barks for attention, food, or visitors. Instead, she prefers to quietly observe the world around her, taking her time to warm up before offering her trust. Once she feels safe, she loves being in the same room as her person, napping nearby, and soaking up the comfort of simply being close.  Because of this, she would thrive in a home where someone is around much of the time to keep her company. Tallahassee is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being petted and spending time outside. She has a soft curiosity about the world and enjoys taking in her surroundings at her own pace. She’s doing well on walks and continues to grow more confident with each outing. She has been doing very well with her potty routine when kept on a consistent schedule. Tally does best with regular potty breaks every 3–4 hours and will reliably go outside when given the opportunity. During freezing or very rainy weather, she has also used potty pads on an enclosed porch. She keeps her kennel clean and settles in beautifully when crated. Like many dogs who are still learning house habits, she may occasionally mistake rugs or previously marked areas for potty spots if not kept on a routine, but she continues to make great progress. She now sleeps with her foster mom and loves the comfort and security of being close at night. Indoors, she enjoys cozy spots to rest, while outside she’s happy to explore, people watch, or simply enjoy the fresh air. Tallahassee is wonderful with other dogs and has a very calm, respectful presence. She may feel nervous if another dog rushes up too quickly or in unfamiliar situations, and may try to quietly slip away until she feels safe again. She has made nice progress in the car and is gaining confidence with each ride. She has also learned commands like “come,” “down,” and “go potty.” She has several medical needs, including a heart murmur requiring twice-daily medication, as well as a hernia and significant dental disease. Due to her heart condition, she is not a candidate for anesthesia, so her dental and surgical needs will be managed conservatively. She will need a home committed to her comfort, routine care, and gentle handling. Tallahassee doesn’t have much interest in toys, but she loves soft treats, warm naps, and being near her person. She is the sweetest little companion who will sit with you for hours, offering quiet affection and a peaceful, steady presence. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving senior who wants nothing more than a calm home, a soft bed, and someone to adore—Tallahassee is ready to be your devoted little shadow. Some souls are quiet, but they love the deepest—Tallahassee is one of them Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!         Hi! My name is Stetson, and I’m a sweet, sensitive little guy with a big heart and lots of love to give. I might seem a little shy when we first meet. New people, loud noises, and busy environments can make me nervous, so I like to take a moment to watch and make sure everything feels safe. But once I get comfortable and learn the routine, I truly blossom into the happiest, most loving companion you could ask for. My favorite place in the world? Right on your lap. I’m a total cuddle bug and love being close to my people. I’ll happily curl up with you for snuggles, but I’m also a playful little guy who enjoys toys and having fun with the people I trust. I’m a bit goofy too, which means I can make you laugh while we play together. I’m very eager to please and already know some helpful words like “come,” “outside,” “quiet,” and “go potty.” I’m potty trained and will use both potty pads and go outside like a good boy. I do best in a calm home where things aren’t too loud or chaotic. Little kids and lots of commotion can feel overwhelming to me, but gentle adults or older, considerate kids are much more my speed. Once I feel safe, I’ll love you with my whole heart and want to be by your side as much as possible. Leashes are still pretty confusing for me—I tend to freeze up when I’m on one—so I’ll need a secure fenced yard where I can safely go outside and explore. I can also get a little vocal in my crate at first, but with patience and a consistent routine, I settle down. Even though I can be timid with new things, I’m truly a happy little boy at heart. I love to play, cuddle, and spend time with my people. When I feel safe and loved, my sweet personality shines through. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion who will adore you, cuddle with you, and be your loyal little shadow, I might just be the perfect match. I promise that once I trust you, I’ll love you with my whole heart. **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This fee must be paid within 24 hours, or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is to place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.
