Ty has absolutely blossomed during his time in the shelter. He came in very shy, after living in an apartment without much exposure to anything or anyone. In his time with us, he has become outgoing and is now a volunteer favorite. When he sees his friends in the hallway, he will give play bows and grab his squeaky toys, sometimes carrying them with him on his whole walk. He is very comfortable with other dogs and is a playgroup star. He is a loyal dog with the sweetest puppy dog eyes. He is housetrained.

Notes from Nelly`s foster: I definitely fell in love with Nelly - and of course I did because she made it so easy. It took her a second to open up, which I was expecting. Parts of her life were not so great and so I assumed that I would have to earn her trust. She also made that part quite easy as all she needed were some yummy treats and some love. And the love she gives back to you is quite endless. She`ll greet you with a big hug the moment you get home. She`ll rest her head on you once you both start to get tired. You might occasionally have to coax her to play, but she commits to the game once you do. Nelly loves tug of war, and in our small apartment she would still somehow make a game of fetch. Shortly after, she`ll get the zoomies, and it`s almost as if she doesn`t realize how fast she is actually going. She may be quite timid and shy at first but once she gets a sense of their smell and that they are a person that you trust, she begins to open up too. Nelly gives cute little kisses and provides you with a comfortable presence. And, she will listen when you tell her to leave it. I will say this girl has some sass in terms of where she wants to go when walking… she might sit and toss her head saying `no I want to go this way.` It`s pretty cute. And again, with patience and some coaxing she listens. She is house trained and will communicate when she needs to go outside. I will say that Nelly is very food motivated and learns quite fast. In terms of training, she needs a bit of repetition, like any other dog, but she catches on quickly. Nelly is a wonderful dog. It might take a second for her to open up, but that is only because she has had to guard herself for quite some time. If you give her a chance, she will become your adventure buddy, your cuddle buddy, and your genuine and loyal friend for life.

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:12 Introducing Zydeco, a beautiful brindle boy who has so far been mellow and a little shy at the shelter. As Zydeco has been opening up, he's been seeking attention and petting from his human-friends, sitting by our feet and requesting petting on his ears. He also seems to enjoy gentle chin scritches and rewards us with a sweet smile and soft, deep, brown eyes. Zydeco is only about 9 months old so he's got plenty to learn about the world. His leash walking skills are good right now and he's been social with other polite, mellow dogs. She has a docile and goofy personality. She is shy with new people but once she warms up she won't stop wiggling. If you come to meet her you may notice that her back legs move a little different, and that's because she has a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia, caused from an inadequate development of the cerebellum. This hereditary disease doesn't seem to cause her any pain nor affect anything else but the unsteadiness of her back legs. The perfect home for her would have no stairs, and a nice big yard for her to run around and sunbathe in.
