Story
Bluto is a confident, playful and affectionate boy with a heart as big as his 70-pound, all-muscle frame! He’s house trained and knows how to sit, and while he walks pretty well on leash, his fabulous foster is working with him on not pulling when something exciting grabs his attention. Bluto is a total lovebug adores being around people. He would happily cuddle up with you on the couch any chance he gets. He’s gentle when taking treats and doesn’t mind having his paws handled—making grooming and vet visits a breeze. He loves meeting new people and greets guests in the home with full body wiggles. So far in foster, he has done great with other large dogs who have calm demeanors. When playful dogs approach, he's eager to get involved but he's not quite sure exactly what to do. He takes human or dog direction well though, and will be a playful companion in no time! As he's a large boy who's still learning how to keep all four paws on the ground when he's excited, he would be best in a home with adults only or older kids. He means absolutely no harm, but could easily knock over small kids or anyone unsteady on their feet while he's working on this. If you’re looking for a strong, confident, and affectionate companion who just needs a little polishing, Bluto might be your perfect match, apply today to find out!

Story
Theo was found as a stray. I got him as an emergency foster and he’s been such an easy to train, loving, timid boy. Shy at first and will hide until he knows the coast is clear, once ready to say hello he is goofy. He moves very slowly and hardly makes a sound around the house. If he sees or hears something suspicious he gives a deep, gentle bark to let you know. When it’s dinner time you get to see how he bucks like a bronco before he sits politely and waits for the, ok, to eat. At 2 years old and 116lbs he still has a bit of growing to do. He has had absolutely no issues in the last year I’ve had him. He gets along with all the dogs and lets you bath him and clip his nails with no fuss. Large breeds like him take longer to mature so even though he is technically an adult, he’s still a big baby that needs guidance to build confidence. Looking for a perfect home should be easy. He loves cuddles, treats, and going out for ‘sniffaris’

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:3Raver is a 2-year-old, 56-pound mastiff-pittie mix with a big heart and a playful spirit. His coat is like midnight—deep black with a quiet kind of beauty that catches the light just right. After a tough past marked by neglect, he's learning what it means to feel safe, cared for, and loved—and he's ready to find a home that will help him continue that journey. This strong, sweet boy has a goofy side that's impossible not to love. Toys? He'll entertain himself for ages. Treats? He's highly food motivated, which makes training and bonding all the more rewarding. He is eager to connect, to trust, and to be part of something stable and kind. Raver seems inexperienced with other dogs, so a solo-pet home is best unless his future family includes a confident, well-matched dog who can help show him the ropes through carefully managed introductions. He's looking for adopters who will see past where he came from and focus on where he's going—people who understand that healing takes time, and that love, structure, and treats go a long way. Raver is ready for a home that's as committed to him as he will be to them. He is a dog who's walked through darkness and is now ready to step into the warmth of a new beginning. If you're looking to give a dog a true second chance Raver is your guy! View this post on Instagram A post shared by Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (@oaklandanimalservices) May 10, 2025, 12:03 pm

Story
We got Dutch from a foster home a few years ago and our family has grown, and moved, and grown, and moved. We love Dutch but he’s not getting the care and attention he deserves, we leave all day for work and then immediately have sports in the evenings which means Dutch is outside alone all day by himself. he’s very social and sweet and loves walks. His hips have been achy lately but he still loves to play and walk. He’s a big guy but doesn’t jump up or act overly rambunctious! Great teeth and coat! He hardly barks, unless someone unfamiliar is approaching the house so he’s great as a guard dog, but he might just lick them to death if they get too close! He’s very friendly with people and knows how to be gentle with food and toys. He does like to power chew so he needs heavy duty toys!
