If you are interested in adopting or fostering this dog. Please visit our website - www.cockeradoptions.org   There, you will find the current status of the dog, the links to our adoption and foster applications, and detailed information about our adopting and fostering procedures.   ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Chico, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I am a little timid because I have not been around a lot of people or lived in a home as a pet. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. Even though I am a little cautious, I warm up quickly and love to cuddle. I was not well cared for. I only weigh 8 pounds and my nails were so long that they were curling under. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. I will need time to trust people who want what is best for me and are not going to hurt me. That is something I have not experienced so far in my life. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. Story
Meet Brandy!  She is a 9 year old, 10 lb Apricot miniature poodle.  She and her sister Becky have spent their lives in the care of a breeder.  Their working days are now over and they are in a wonderful foster home where they are learning to be pets.  Brandy is reserved but not scared.  You can see her sweetness in her little face and eyes.  She is adjusting well to life in a home and gets along well with everyone.  Brandy loves to be outside taking in all the smells and relaxing in the sun.  She quickly learned the doggie door and can go in and out when she needs to.  This is definitely helping with her house manners.  Brandy cuddles with her sister and is starting to enjoy life.  She has a soft bed to lay in and lots of love coming her way.  She just needs a person or couple that will be patient and help her to adjust to all the new things she will be experiencing.  She is learning that riding in the car is not a bad thing and working on walking on a leash.  (That might take a bit.)  With lots of love and attention Brandy will turn into a loyal and loving companion.  Will that be with you.  Brandy has been spayed and is current on all shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  To be considered for her forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Brandy is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)July 26, 2024, 2:09 pm

Story
Meet Waldo! Waldo is a miniature poodle and appx 15 lbs. we were told he is 1-2, but based on his teeth, we *think* he is 3-4, but could be younger and just not proper care. Waldo is VERY sweet and affectionate. He seems to love everyone he meets. He gets along well with other dogs but doesn’t really care for cats. Waldo’s love language is barking. He likes his voice, a lot. He is content by your side, but he lovessss to bark at everything that moves outside off leash. Waldo will be neutered before adoption, but right now he is not and he does mark. Once he is neutered, we hope it will decrease or even eliminate this behavior, but it’s something to be aware of. He is completely crate trained. He absolutely adores children and gets so excited to get attention. He did well for the groomer too. (He currently has some red staining on his fur from chewing/licking from being infested with fleas when we got him. His fur is coming in white behind it now that he has had treatment and will be a pure white poodle as it grows.) Waldo will be neutered, vaccinated, flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention (one year ProHeart vaccine), dewormed, and microchipped with free lifetime registration.

Story
Sarge was surrendered to the shelter with his brother Barkley when their owners could no longer care for them. They are around a year and a half. According to their previous owners they are a mix of Poodle, Lab, Havanese, and shih tzu. Barkley and Sarge do not have to go to a home together as they do well on their own. Sarge loves to just be with you! Sarge does not do well with cats and will need a home without them. Sarge has never been around children so he will need to meet all family members that reside in the home. Sarge is an active playful guy that will need someone that can exercise him regularly and is able to keep him groomed as he will need grooming. Sarge did test positive for lyme and anaplasmosis which are tick related diseases and is currently on an antibiotic for them. He would love to find his loving forever home soon! Sarge has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/lyme tested, and microchipped. Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter5051 Letterkenny Road WestChambersburg, PA 17201Kennel License#2090
