Story
Hello my name is Ridge and I am a puppy mill survivor. At age 9 the mill released me to a rescue. I am learning to adjust to things in this world but it is not easy. I like a lot of the new people I have met but you need to be slow with me. I also like a few of the dogs here, but I need doggie friends that are calm because i get frighten easily. I am learning to walk on a leash. I am looking for a home that is calm and a caregiver that can be patient with me as I learn the world. Could that be you?

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Max is 9mos old, weighs 16lbs, is up to date on his vaccines, is neither neutered nor microchipped.  He knows the following commands:  'Cage - goes into cage, sit, quiet.'  He fears and/or dislikes 'everything; he has anxiety'.  Max roams the home when someone is home; he is in his 'cage when gone; living in his cage w/night light; not good in car again he is fearful, needs reassurance or cage'.  Max loves being outdoors but is scared of noises and sounds. Max's guardian explains why she has made the decision to rehome him: "Behavioral issues/fearful/social anxiety.  Unfortunately he gets along with our other dog but he is not a good fit for our home.  He requires a lot of attention that we do not have the time to do.  We have trained with trainer and purchased calming meds but nothing works.  He is not aggressive at all he needs love and patience.  We just can't do it with our schedules.". Max's guardian states the following regarding children:  Max hasn't lived with children, but his guardian recommends his living with children, stating "He's been around kids, and he'd be great with them". Max's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Max lives with a dog, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "Shy and bashful until he is comfortable". Max's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Max hasn't live with or otherwise been around cats, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats. Max's guardian describes him as: Barks alot Playful Friendly Shy Likes to be touched Affectionate Fearful Always at your side Indoor dog Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Separation anxiety Max's guardian describes his ideal future home:  "He needs a good home with a patient loving person that can provide the attention he requires."   Rehoming Fee:  $250 Location:  Baltimore, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. Story
Cromwell- Poodle mix male, ~ 6-8 yr. (March 2024) Please email rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application _______________________________________ Meet Cromwell! Cromwell’s backstory: We were contacted by an animal control facility we partner with, asking us to help this dear boy get out of the facility safely. He had been neglected for quite some time, and he arrived underweight and heavily matted. He had an eye infection that needed immediate attention. He needed to be neutered as well as have a dental. He has spent several weeks recuperating, and we were able to get him all of the attention and procedures he needed. He is ready for his second chance at life! Breed and Hair Notes: Cromwell has hair that grows and not fur. He is a stunning blend of Poodle... and we are not certain what else! He is one-of-a-kind and very special. He is agreeable to baths at home, and he is very well-behaved at the professional groomer. They love him there! He is grateful to be taken care of after years of neglect. PLEASE NOTE: his hair will grow indefinitely, and he will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Get to Know Cromwell: Cromwell is approximately 6-8 years old and about 17-18 pounds. This is an estimate from two veterinarians who have examined him, though his age is a guesstimate. He is currently being taught to go potty outside on walks by his foster family, and he's catching on very well. Cromwell's previous life did not consist of much exercise or movement, and he is making up for it! Despite years of neglect, he now LOVES going outside and going for walks! He is exuberant about it daily. He has bone spurs on his spine due to something happening to him in his previous life. The X-rays show where they are located. With daily exercise and glucosamine supplements, he's doing very well and ready to gain some more strength! Cromwell is currently taking Vetmedin and Furosemide for congestive heart failure. He has a grade 2 heart murmur, according to the doctor who did his dental and got to know him well. He will need to be on this medication for the rest of his life. Thankfully, Vetmedin is a miracle drug, and it gives quality of life and time in dogs with a murmur. Cromwell also has dry eye and needs daily drops for it. He has trouble hearing quiet sounds, but he can hear louder noises. Cromwell is described as a very happy and loving boy. He attaches quickly to people who show him love and respect. The foster family has a granddaughter who visits often, and they love each other very much. He would fit well in a family where the children are very experienced around animals and understand how to respect them. Cromwell loves to follow the sun every morning and take his post breakfast naps in the sunlight streaming through the windows. Cromwell loves to be cuddled and fall asleep in someone's arms. Ideal Home: Cromwell is a pretty laid-back guy, though he has an excitement for life! A quiet and calm home is ideal, not one that has a lot of people coming and going in it. If you expect to put Cromwell in a crate at all during the day or night, please do not apply. He will flourish in a home where he can hang out with his people during the day and sleep near them at night. He's been neglected for many years. We want him to have a family that will be there for him as much as possible. Ideally, his people should work from home or be retired. Cromwell can successfully be in a home where he is the only dog, though he lives in a foster home with two cats. We all believe he'd love a dog brother or sister, though! He had a foster sister dog for a while, and they got along well. He tends to prefer quieter, calmer dogs. Large and high energy dogs are not a good idea for him as they make him a bit nervous. Cromwell is an "old soul" who has seen and been through an awful lot in his short time so far here on this earth. We look forward to meeting the family who will make up for the time he spent being neglected. We want nothing more than to see him in a home where he is loved for who he is and doted upon 24/7! Will it be you? Let's find out! Cromwell is fostering in MD. His adoption fee is $500 to help cover the medical expenses of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Include your location and a phone number for future communication. The first step in our process is to submit an application for review. Once approved, we will contact you to arrange a meeting at our next Meet and Greet event. Our pets are fostered in private homes and will be brought to Frederick, MD to meet approved adopters. PLEASE ALLOW 24-48 HOURS FOR A RESPONSE.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!*Diva and her BEST friend Iggy lived in a VERY filthy home.  When they were found during a 'well check' they were immediately picked up and taken away from the crappy existence they had lived in all their life :(  These 2 little girls are the SWEETEST girls EVER and they do not leave each others sight!  We will not separate them they deserve to keep their best friend FUR LIFE!!!If you are looking for a bonded pair you couldn't get a sweeter set!MUST BE ADOPTED AS A BONDED PAIRMUST HAVE FENCEMUST HAVE PATIENCE AS THEY ARE SCARED OF EVERYTHINGVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!May 2, 2024, 12:27 pm
