Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie seeking fresh start and love! TWIN STAR NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Twin Star         Best Guess for Breed: Poodle mix Best Guess for Age:   10 years as of April 2024        SEX: Female   Approximate Weight:  18.4lbs   Gets Along With:   Twin Star does well with other dogs. We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested once she has arrived in the DC area  Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Special adoption considerations:  Twin Star is from a hoarding/cruelty situation, and was very scared at rescue. She was placed in a short term foster home then hopped on a flight to the DC area on 4/13 and has been making great strides! We think she will benefit from being in a home with a welcoming resident dog or having numerous opportunities to be around other dogs in various environments - they will show her how to dog in new places! Extra patient and loving humans are definitely needed.    Twin Star is Looking For:  For a loving home that delivers all the sweet things her rescuers whispered in her ear.... 'You're safe now, sweet girl. The life you deserve starts now. You get lots of love, quality kibble, a cushy dog bed - and a warm lap if you'd like too. You're safe now, sweet girl.'   Twin Star was rescued from a hoarding/cruelty case and landed in a massive south Texas shelter that routinely has 1200-1500 animals in their care; her chances of being adopted in that area are, well, low to nil. She likely will be nervous in new environments and is eager to get her own humans - ones who get that she might need extra support during her adjustment and give her all the love and patience she needs. And what do they get in return? An incredibly sweet and loving dog with an enormous stockpile of adoring gazes and loyal companionship to offer. Sure, Twin Star may be 10 but small dogs tend to live longer and she's looking forward to all those days in her new chapter.    What do you say? Will you help her write it? What My Foster Says About Me:  Great dog. Loves the people for care for her. Cuddle bug with lots of energy. Does well on leash and loves to explore the fenced in yard. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and her spay, and transport from the shelter If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. This little guy ended up in the shelter at around ten years of age. That's sad - but happier days are ahead for him. He's eager to once again have his humans to love. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on his wish list as well - and definitely daily brushing and regular grooming. Story
Cromwell- Poodle mix male, ~ 6-8 yr. (March 2024) Please email rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application _______________________________________ Meet Cromwell! Cromwell’s backstory: We were contacted by an animal control facility we partner with, asking us to help this dear boy get out of the facility safely. He had been neglected for quite some time, and he arrived underweight and heavily matted. He had an eye infection that needed immediate attention. He needed to be neutered as well as have a dental. He has spent several weeks recuperating, and we were able to get him all of the attention and procedures he needed. He is ready for his second chance at life! Breed and Hair Notes: Cromwell has hair that grows and not fur. He is a stunning blend of Poodle... and we are not certain what else! He is one-of-a-kind and very special. He is agreeable to baths at home, and he is very well-behaved at the professional groomer. They love him there! He is grateful to be taken care of after years of neglect. PLEASE NOTE: his hair will grow indefinitely, and he will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Get to Know Cromwell: Cromwell is approximately 6-8 years old and about 17-18 pounds. This is an estimate from two veterinarians who have examined him, though his age is a guesstimate. He is currently being taught to go potty outside on walks by his foster family, and he's catching on very well. Cromwell's previous life did not consist of much exercise or movement, and he is making up for it! Despite years of neglect, he now LOVES going outside and going for walks! He is exuberant about it daily. He has bone spurs on his spine due to something happening to him in his previous life. The X-rays show where they are located. With daily exercise and glucosamine supplements, he's doing very well and ready to gain some more strength! Cromwell is currently taking Vetmedin and Furosemide for congestive heart failure. He has a grade 2 heart murmur, according to the doctor who did his dental and got to know him well. He will need to be on this medication for the rest of his life. Thankfully, Vetmedin is a miracle drug, and it gives quality of life and time in dogs with a murmur. Cromwell also has dry eye and needs daily drops for it. He has trouble hearing quiet sounds, but he can hear louder noises. Cromwell is described as a very happy and loving boy. He attaches quickly to people who show him love and respect. The foster family has a granddaughter who visits often, and they love each other very much. He would fit well in a family where the children are very experienced around animals and understand how to respect them. Cromwell loves to follow the sun every morning and take his post breakfast naps in the sunlight streaming through the windows. Cromwell loves to be cuddled and fall asleep in someone's arms. Ideal Home: Cromwell is a pretty laid-back guy, though he has an excitement for life! A quiet and calm home is ideal, not one that has a lot of people coming and going in it. If you expect to put Cromwell in a crate at all during the day or night, please do not apply. He will flourish in a home where he can hang out with his people during the day and sleep near them at night. He's been neglected for many years. We want him to have a family that will be there for him as much as possible. Ideally, his people should work from home or be retired. Cromwell can successfully be in a home where he is the only dog, though he lives in a foster home with two cats. We all believe he'd love a dog brother or sister, though! He had a foster sister dog for a while, and they got along well. He tends to prefer quieter, calmer dogs. Large and high energy dogs are not a good idea for him as they make him a bit nervous. Cromwell is an "old soul" who has seen and been through an awful lot in his short time so far here on this earth. We look forward to meeting the family who will make up for the time he spent being neglected. We want nothing more than to see him in a home where he is loved for who he is and doted upon 24/7! Will it be you? Let's find out! Cromwell is fostering in MD. His adoption fee is $500 to help cover the medical expenses of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Include your location and a phone number for future communication. The first step in our process is to submit an application for review. Once approved, we will contact you to arrange a meeting at our next Meet and Greet event. Our pets are fostered in private homes and will be brought to Frederick, MD to meet approved adopters. PLEASE ALLOW 24-48 HOURS FOR A RESPONSE.

Story
Hi! My name is Janie. I am a really adorable, sweet girl, and I am just looking for my furever home! I was surrendered by my owner after he could no longer adequately care for me. I am all ready to be adopted :) My adoption fee is $450, and covers all of my vetting, and includes transport within the next two weeks, if my new family lives in the northeast USA. ***PLEASE DO NOT FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO ADOPT WITHIN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS**** Please visit https://www.apply.daybeforetherainbow.com/ to fill out an adoption application form or email my rescue at taryn@daybeforetherainbow.com! If you are interested in adopting or fostering this dog. Please visit our website - www.cockeradoptions.org   There, you will find the current status of the dog, the links to our adoption and foster applications, and detailed information about our adopting and fostering procedures.   ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Rocky, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I have spent my life in a barn or shed in a cage. As you can see in my picture, I do NOT like crates or cages, I have spent my life biting at the cage and rubbing my nose against the cage to try to get out. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. The vet is not sure if my nose hair will grow back. It will take time to tell. I do have a mild heart murmur - a 2 out of 6. I have mild luxating patellas and mild hip dysplasia or arthritis in my hips also indicating I spent my life in a cage with little to no exercise. The CSAC tranporter said that I am sweet and gave kisses. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen.
