Story
Cromwell- Poodle mix male, ~ 6-8 yr. (March 2024) Please email rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application _______________________________________ Meet Cromwell! Cromwell’s backstory: We were contacted by an animal control facility we partner with, asking us to help this dear boy get out of the facility safely. He had been neglected for quite some time, and he arrived underweight and heavily matted. He had an eye infection that needed immediate attention. He needed to be neutered as well as have a dental. He has spent several weeks recuperating, and we were able to get him all of the attention and procedures he needed. He is ready for his second chance at life! Breed and Hair Notes: Cromwell has hair that grows and not fur. He is a stunning blend of Poodle... and we are not certain what else! He is one-of-a-kind and very special. He is agreeable to baths at home, and he is very well-behaved at the professional groomer. They love him there! He is grateful to be taken care of after years of neglect. PLEASE NOTE: his hair will grow indefinitely, and he will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Get to Know Cromwell: Cromwell is approximately 6-8 years old and about 17-18 pounds. This is an estimate from two veterinarians who have examined him, though his age is a guesstimate. He is currently being taught to go potty outside on walks by his foster family, and he's catching on very well. Cromwell's previous life did not consist of much exercise or movement, and he is making up for it! Despite years of neglect, he now LOVES going outside and going for walks! He is exuberant about it daily. He has bone spurs on his spine due to something happening to him in his previous life. The X-rays show where they are located. With daily exercise and glucosamine supplements, he's doing very well and ready to gain some more strength! Cromwell is currently taking Vetmedin and Furosemide for congestive heart failure. He has a grade 2 heart murmur, according to the doctor who did his dental and got to know him well. He will need to be on this medication for the rest of his life. Thankfully, Vetmedin is a miracle drug, and it gives quality of life and time in dogs with a murmur. Cromwell also has dry eye and needs daily drops for it. He has trouble hearing quiet sounds, but he can hear louder noises. Cromwell is described as a very happy and loving boy. He attaches quickly to people who show him love and respect. The foster family has a granddaughter who visits often, and they love each other very much. He would fit well in a family where the children are very experienced around animals and understand how to respect them. Cromwell loves to follow the sun every morning and take his post breakfast naps in the sunlight streaming through the windows. Cromwell loves to be cuddled and fall asleep in someone's arms. Ideal Home: Cromwell is a pretty laid-back guy, though he has an excitement for life! A quiet and calm home is ideal, not one that has a lot of people coming and going in it. If you expect to put Cromwell in a crate at all during the day or night, please do not apply. He will flourish in a home where he can hang out with his people during the day and sleep near them at night. He's been neglected for many years. We want him to have a family that will be there for him as much as possible. Ideally, his people should work from home or be retired. Cromwell can successfully be in a home where he is the only dog, though he lives in a foster home with two cats. We all believe he'd love a dog brother or sister, though! He had a foster sister dog for a while, and they got along well. He tends to prefer quieter, calmer dogs. Large and high energy dogs are not a good idea for him as they make him a bit nervous. Cromwell is an "old soul" who has seen and been through an awful lot in his short time so far here on this earth. We look forward to meeting the family who will make up for the time he spent being neglected. We want nothing more than to see him in a home where he is loved for who he is and doted upon 24/7! Will it be you? Let's find out! Cromwell is fostering in MD. His adoption fee is $500 to help cover the medical expenses of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Include your location and a phone number for future communication. The first step in our process is to submit an application for review. Once approved, we will contact you to arrange a meeting at our next Meet and Greet event. Our pets are fostered in private homes and will be brought to Frederick, MD to meet approved adopters. PLEASE ALLOW 24-48 HOURS FOR A RESPONSE.

ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Rocky, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I have spent my life in a barn or shed in a cage. As you can see in my picture, I do NOT like crates or cages, I have spent my life biting at the cage and rubbing my nose against the cage to try to get out. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. The vet is not sure if my nose hair will grow back. It will take time to tell. I do have a mild heart murmur - a 2 out of 6. I have mild luxating patellas and mild hip dysplasia or arthritis in my hips also indicating I spent my life in a cage with little to no exercise. The CSAC tranporter said that I am sweet and gave kisses. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Paws Crossed Dog Rescue serves the Eastern Panhandle of WV and nearby areas.  Please read Adoption Info on the left side of our website to learn about the adoption application process.   Millie comes to us from southern WV.  She's an active girl, loves to play and run.  She must absolutely have a physical fence in her yard.  She's good with other dogs her size, loves to follow her human around the house.  she loves to sit on your lap . House training is a work in progress, but she's doing well.  She is crate/kennel trained. She will need work on a leash!  We don't know how she would be around cats. She's up-to-date on all of her vaccinations, has been spayed, and is ready for her forever home.  We do not adopt into homes that use electronic, underground, or wireless fencing.   Email inquiries can be made to PawsCrossedDogRescue@yahoo.com Please read ADOPTION INFO on the left side of the website before submitting an adoption application.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 15, 2024, 11:34 am

Story
Hello my name is Ridge and I am a puppy mill survivor. At age 9 the mill released me to a rescue. I am learning to adjust to things in this world but it is not easy. I like a lot of the new people I have met but you need to be slow with me. I also like a few of the dogs here, but I need doggie friends that are calm because i get frighten easily. I am learning to walk on a leash. I am looking for a home that is calm and a caregiver that can be patient with me as I learn the world. Could that be you?
