Story
Meet Willy!
Willy is a 1-year-old, 35-lb male Standard Poodle who is sweet, gentle, and shy — the kind of boy who just wants to be near his people. His superpowers include following his foster around like a loyal shadow, getting along beautifully with other dogs, and being an absolute dream to care for and shower with affection. He's a little reserved at first but warms up at his own pace, and he's curious and friendly once he settles in.
In terms of personality, Willy is wonderfully mellow — he's content to nap the day away at your feet or hang out quietly while you go about your day. That said, he comes alive a bit in the yard, where he loves to sniff around and soak up the outdoors. He's a great eater, enjoys car rides, and is working on his house training with steady progress (he's a smart boy who just needs a little time and consistency). If you're looking for a gentle, soulful companion who will quietly become your best friend and your shadow, Willy is your guy.
Willy is currently being fostered in West New York, NJ and his adoption fee is $600.
Willy is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.
"To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal."
