Meet Nellie — A Gentle Little Soul Learning What Love Feels Like When we took Nellie in from another rescue, she had been surrendered with several other doodles from a breeder with no socialization, and we made her a promise — that her future would be soft, kind, and full of love. Now we’re searching for the special home that will keep that promise with us. Nellie is a 7-month-old poodle mix with the sweetest heart. She’s still very timid and shy, but behind those quiet eyes is a girl who truly wants to trust and belong. She may take time to blossom, but when she does, it will be beautiful. What Nellie Loves: Other dogs — they make her feel safe and confident Her crate — it’s her cozy little comfort zone Calm voices, gentle hands, and peaceful routines She is still working on potty training , so she will need a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to move at her pace and celebrate the small wins.Because she hasn't learned how to walk on a leash yet, a fenced in yard is needed  Nellie would do best in a foster-to-adopt or adoptive home with someone who understands shy dogs and is committed to helping her learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. Abigail has had a whirlwind week and is ready for a new life. This sweet crusty matted old lady was discarded locally unable to see past her hair, tightly matted over her whole body. She was never spayed and had multiple mammary tumors that we had removed plus a spay and dental, and she’s healing nicely. The masses were a low grade cancer with no sign of spread right now, so she should just be monitored going forward for new lumps or metastasis down the road. But overall a good prognosis and we are hopeful she will have some quality years ahead of her. She’s very sweet, loves to eat, sleeps well cuddled in soft blankets, and howls like a wolf with excitement at feeding time. She’s 13lbs and some type of poodle/maltese type with long tall legs, and probably at least 10-12 years old. She doesn’t mind other small gentle dogs and settles into a home picking up a routine very quickly and not making waves. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Dottie is with our rescue partner in Louisiana and will be landing in a NJ foster home on 1/10. Dottie is a true velcro dog who loves staying close to her people. She does not wander far when outside and is happiest curled up as a lap dog or quietly following you from room to room. Her kennel is her safe space and she settles there comfortably when her foster leaves the house or when it is time for bed. She would benefit from having another dog in the home to help show her the ropes and build confidence. Dottie can be vocal when she sees strangers or kids running by, but this comes from uncertainty, not aggression. She does not have an aggressive bone in her body and is simply a bit skittish as she experiences many new things for the first time. Dottie appears to be a Schnauzer Poodle mix. She is about six years old and recently had a dental, so she is feeling great and ready to start her next chapter. If you are looking for a loyal, gentle companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Dottie may be the perfect fit. Dottie is up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm.  Dottie has been spayed/neutered and has a microchip. Her adoption fee is $450.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. Snowflake is a sweet little mini poodle with a gentle soul and a happy heart. She’s about a year old, weighs around 11 pounds, and is fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Snowflake was found as a stray and sadly went unclaimed, but she’s safe now and ready for a fresh start. She’s very friendly with people and does well with other dogs. Snowflake loves companionship and wants to be near her people. She does have some separation anxiety, which her foster home is actively working on, and she’s already making progress. Because of this, she’d do best in a home where someone is around most of the time and can continue helping her build confidence. She was shaved down when she came in so she could be cleaned up comfortably, but her fluffy poodle coat will grow back beautifully. Snowflake is a loving little dog who just wants stability, patience, and someone to be her safe place. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. You must begin our adoption process by applying to adopt on clawsadopt.org.
