Story
Nugget is an 8 year old mini goldendoodle. He is sweet and mellow but playful too and he loves a good game of fetch. Nugget thrives on routine and has unfortunately been surrendered by an owner who has fallen on hard times. He is doing well in his foster home but would love to settle in to a calm, stable adult home that will continue to support his routine. He would do best in a home without cats or young children. Although Nugget gets along with other dogs, he tends to guard his food and would probably benefit from being the only pet in the home. If you are looking for a companion to go on walks, play fetch and snuggle up for belly rubs, please consider making Nugget a part of your family. If you are interested in adopting from Castle-of-Dreams Animal Rescue, please complete an Adoption Application We are a 100% volunteer organization and have several opportunities available in fundraising, fostering, dog care, events and lots more!  To join our winning team, please complete a Volunteer Application A healthy pet is a happy pet! Story
Red the gorgeous puppy is quite the mix - German shepherd + red poodle + xolo, + bully = uniquely handsome! Red is 6 months old and weighs 25 lbs. With his puppy curiosity, he is super friendly with people and other dogs. He is friendly with kids too, but older kids (10+) would be best as Red is just an energetic kid himself, wanting to jump and play, play, play! This adorable puppy is in urgent need of a loving foster home. His elderly owner, who has cherished and cared for him deeply, can no longer meet physically take care of him due to her declining health. Red has not been cat tested. We’re looking for a compassionate foster who can give him stability, attention, and structure. We just need someone to open their heart and home to help this sweet boy. Just like all puppies, he needs some guidance to learn how to be a dog, but the love & devotion he has to give is worth it! Red is currently in the NYC area and can be transported to approved fosters/adopters. If you can open your heart & home to dear Red, please contact Ishrat by call/text at 718-524-2156 or by email at info@amsterdog.org. Apply to adopt Red at AmsterDog.org. Thanks for caring about a pet in need!

Story
Trixie - 12 years young, 8lbs, Poodle/Maltese Mix, Spayed - BLIND Trixie is Blind!!  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: Trixie is the kind of dog that makes your heart ache — with joy, with curiosity, with empathy. This 12-year-old maltese mix is mostly blind and was shaved to the skin when we took her in because she’d been matted gnarly when she ended up at the city shelter. But as soon as she got to our office, her naked little body wandered around while her nose led a gentle search for treats. When we handed her one, she cheerfully chomped it up and waved her wee snoot around in search of more. She transitioned into her foster home seamlessly, where she’s been since the first week of February. It didn’t take long for her to start feeling comfy and getting used to life as a cherished companion, and her fur is growing out now. She’ll need a family ready for senior medical care and to help a blind dog around — watch for things she might bump into or stumble off of. She’ll also need some grass, real or fake — in case you can’t tell from this reel, she’s clearly got a favorite activity. She’s happy with a quiet lifestyle and lots of love and will do best in a low key neighborhood or the suburbs. Her smitten foster dad says she’s a couch potato and: “Trixie is not a big cuddler, she’s very independent and is not huge on snuggles unless you place her next to you. She’s potty trained to a degree. She has to be taken out every 2-3 hours or she will pee on the floor, simply because she doesn’t know exactly where she is! If you take her out consistently, there are no issues though. She’s not afraid of strangers, she is extremely comfy with large groups and being the star of the show. She’s extremely gentle, low energy, tolerant, not mouthy. I haven’t seen her interact with too many dogs, but the groomer mentioned she got along great with the other dogs there. She’s not afraid in the city but has a hard time on walks and would do better with a big patio or a yard. She is very low maintenance, no separation anxiety.” Level of dog ownership experience needed:FLEXIBLE: We predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale with regard to exercise and mental stimulation requirements, but seniors tend to need a lot of help and understanding when it comes to lifestyle and veterinary issues. Seniors usually need quiet, calm environments and routines and do not do well with a lot of bustle, change, and rambunctious movement (kids and young playful dogs, for instance). This dog’s adopter will need to be prepared for senior health challenges, which usually come with expensive veterinary bills and time in vet offices. Senior care can also take an emotional toll on their humans. Adopting a mature pup is a wonderful thing to do, but it can also be difficult.  Energy levelLOWER: Pretty chill indoors and won’t demand endless amounts of stimulation and exercise but still needs a few short walks a day (10-30 min each) for potty breaks and to stretch their legs Cuddle Bug LevelLow, very independent and is not huge on snuggles unless you place hernext to you. Potty Trained: Yes, to a degree. She has to be taken out every 2-3hours or she will pee on the floor, simply because she doesn’t knowexactly where she is! If you take her out consistently, there are noissues though! Comfy with strangers:Yes, she is extremely comfy with large groups and being the star of the show. Comfy For childrenYes, extremely gentle, low energy, tolerant, not mouthy. She is GREAT for kids. Social with other dogs?Mostly– haven’t had too much experience but the groomers mentioned shegot along great with the other dogs. Leash Manners:Old pro. Respectful of other animals?Yes! Doesn’t really concern herself with other animals. Mouthy behavior:None whatsoever based on description Okay in the city?I think it's better in an apartment with a big balcony for her toroam, or in suburbs. Hard for her to take walks in general, but she isOK in the city! Jumping on people to say hi?Low, always 4 on the floor. Separation Anxiety:She is great and very low maintenance. No separation anxiety. Crate trained?Yes, totally fine in the crate. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. Adopters will need to be ready for senior care – at a minimum, that will be annual checkups including senior bloodwork and a dental post adoption (most senior rescues need one). How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
