Story
Dandy Dandelion may look like a tiny stuffed animal with her fluffy coat, sweet little face, and petite 9.5-pound frame, but she is even more precious once you get to know her. She is gentle, mellow, and adorably innocent, with a quiet way of working her way into your heart. Dandy might not hand out her love to everyone she meets, but once she chooses you as her person, she loves with her whole tiny heart.

Dandy is approximately 4 years old and believed to be a Miniature Poodle/Shih Tzu mix. As always with animal rescue, breed and age are our best guesses, and we can never guarantee either.
Dandy is dog friendly and currently fostered in a multi-dog home with both large dogs and a dog closer to her size. They enjoy hanging out together and have gotten along wonderfully. She is not the most playful girl with other dogs and tends to be pretty aloof around them. Dandy will politely say hello and then wander off to do her own thing. She would be perfectly happy sharing her home with an easygoing canine companion who respects her space, but she does not need another dog to keep her entertained.
She also met our house cat, Biggie, and handled the introduction beautifully. Dandy was respectful, did not attempt to chase him, and was completely unbothered by Biggie jumping around and doing all the unpredictable things cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her. We do not know whether Dandy has ever lived with a cat, and this was our first time observing her around one. If you have a cat in your home, we can arrange for Dandy to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know!
Dandy is very sweet, shy, gentle, innocent, and mellow. She enjoys affection and loves sitting with her foster family on the couch for movie night, but she is not clingy or constantly demanding attention. She simply needs a little time to adjust to new surroundings and learn that the people around her are safe. She is not the type to immediately love bomb a stranger, which makes earning her trust and watching her personality unfold feel even more meaningful.
She is crate trained, loves relaxing in her crate, and remains very quiet while inside. Dandy is also potty trained for the most part, though she may have an accident if she has been waiting for an extended amount of time.
With her mellow personality and quiet nature, Dandy has the potential to do well in either an apartment or a home with a backyard. Although she does not require a yard, she absolutely loves exploring her foster family’s backyard, sunbathing, and sitting on the patio with them while enjoying the fresh air.
Dandy would thrive with a patient family willing to let her settle in at her own pace. She may be tiny and a little reserved in the beginning, but underneath that shy exterior is a deeply loving little dog waiting to choose her person. Give her the time she needs, and you may find yourself with the sweetest little movie-night companion curled up beside you.
We are willing to test Dandy Dandelion with anything you need in order to ensure it’s a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!
We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
