Story
Ok so the story of Walter….
Walter came to me at the hospital very sick with Parvo when he was 8 months old, his owners at the time couldn’t afford treatment and were going to euthanize so I asked if I could take him, he fought a hard fight and came thru like a champ! He’s grown in to such a fun and playful little guy, he loves his ball more than anything else and will play fetch for as long as you will let him! He also loves to go on long walks and loves to swim! If he drops his ball near you and you tell him you can’t reach it he will use his nose to scoot it closer to you! It’s adorable! He also loves to carry one of my shoes around, and will even take it to bed with him, he never chews it up, just likes to carry it around. Walter also loves to sing along with the radio, he has a number of songs now that he loves and will run to wherever the music is coming from and howl along with the song! Walter is very praise motivated, while he likes food he’ll do just about anything for praise! He will come to the command of ‘front’, when you say front he will come to you and sit at your feet! He also knows to sit and wait for his food. He is completely crate trained but does sleep in bed with me at night. Walter will bond completely with his person and is very protective of me and our home. He does get anxious over things like thunder and lightening and fireworks! I have had to medicate him for times like the 4th of July. Walter lives with two other dogs and goes to my sisters frequently and plays well with her dogs. I’m not sure what’s triggered him but over the last six months or so he’s been going after my older, more fragile dog to the point I’m fearful for her! Walter deserves the best life and so much more than I am able to give him right now. Please just love on him, I will miss him dearly!
If interested please fill out and submit an application online at Softpawsrescue.org and send in home and yard photos for consideration to adopt. We like to do 2 week Foster to Adopts so the dogs don't have to move around as much and they can bond and make sure they fit into your home before completion of adoption.
Dogs adoption fee's will include vet visit/exam, spay/neuter, microchip, blood work up/dental if vet says it is needed, dewormed, up to date on shots (DHPP and Rabies, Bordetella can be done if requested we don't do it normally as we don't have the dogs in boarding, dog parks or high risk locations), current on 1 dose of flea treatment in case they brought any with them from CA. If anything isn't mentioned that you don't see but is normally done
